How many needle do i need to buy and i cat seem to find the step by step guide. where is that? thanks! :)
15.03.2025 - 20:04DROPS Design answered:
Dear Michelle, the needle sizes are indicated in the Materials section: DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 5.5mm and 4mm: Length 40 cm and 80 cm. And double pointed needles of the same 2 sizes. However, you could work using the magic loop technique as indicated under the needle sizes. Then you'd only need a 5.5mm and 4mm circular needle of 80cm. The instructions on how to work the pattern are indicated down below, where it says: START THE PIECE HERE. Remeber to read the EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN, to understand how to decrease and how to work the raglan. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

Thank you for the answer. This means the marker has to be taken off the the stitch and refastened to the new stitch every round in order to keep place? Ir do you leave it on the original stitch. Sorry I’m not understanding actually fastening the marker to the stitch and having to refasten it each round. Seems like a lot of work.
02.03.2025 - 20:15DROPS Design answered:
Dear Julia, you keep the marker while working the other stitches then, when you reach the stitch with the marker you remove it, work the stitch and put the marker back, so that it remains on the same position but in the next round (you move it upwards as you work the piece). If you feel that it's too complicated, you can place the marker before the raglan-stitch (the one that should be the marker), but then you will need to remember that the next stitch is the raglan-stitch and make sure that the marker isn't moved while increasing on each side of this central stitch. Happy knitting!

Hello. I’m confused about the raglan increases. What does place the marker “in the stitch” mean. Usually the marker is not attached to a stitch. It’s on either side of a stitch so we know to add before and after yhe stitch that’s marked. I’ve never sees it written “in the stitch” Help!!!!
28.02.2025 - 23:47DROPS Design answered:
Dear Julia, when placing a marker in the stitch you insert it inside the stitch, so it's not between stitches. This is sometimes done depending on the raglan-line pattern. For example, when the raglan line is only this stitch in the first round. The increases can then be worked on either side of this stitch, instead of having two or more stitches in between the increases, as this stitch will allow the yarn overs to be close together without forming a big hole. Happy knitting!

Hi Tia, The yoke measurements are taken from the marker inserted after the neck. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase to raglan on each side of each marker-stitch as follows: Work to the marker-stitch, 1 yarn over, knit the marker-stitch, 1 yarn over (= 8 stitches increased). On the next round work the yarn overs as follows: BEFORE marker-stitch: Slip the yarn over onto the right needle as if to knit, place it back onto the left needle the other way round (twisted), knit the yarn over (twists away from the marker-stitch).. AFTER marker-stitch: Knit the yarn over twisted (twists away from the marker-stitch). DECREASE TIP (sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on either side of the marker as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles. DOUBLE NECK: Cast on 78-81-87-90-93-96 stitches with DROPS Air using 2 short circular needles, sizes 4 and 5.5 MM = US 6 and 9, held together. Pull out the needle size 5.5 MM = US 9 and work with short circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 (doing this gives you an elastic cast-on edge). Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 2) for 9 cm = 3½". Now fold the neck double to the inside and, on the next round and working stockinette stitch, knit every 2nd stitch together with every 2nd stitch from the cast-on edge. Change to circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (mid back); the yoke is measured from this marker! YOKE: Knit 1 round and increase 14-15-17-10-11-14 stitches evenly spaced = 92-96-104-100-104-110 stitches. Insert 4 markers (without working the stitches) as follows: Count 15-16-18-17-18-19 stitches (half back piece), insert 1 marker in the next stitch, count 14 stitches (sleeve), insert 1 marker in the next stitch, count 30-32-36-34-36-39 stitches (front piece), insert 1 marker in the next stitch, count 14 stitches (sleeve), insert 1 marker in the next stitch. There are 15-16-18-17-18-20 stitches left after the last marker-stitch (half back piece). Work stockinette stitch and increase to RAGLAN – read description above, every 2nd round 17-19-20-24-26-27 times = 228-248-264-292-312-326 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Work until the yoke measures 20-22-24-25-27-29 cm = 8"-8¾"-9½"-9¾"-10⅝"-11⅜". Now divide for the body and sleeves as follows: Knit 34-37-39-43-47-49, place the next 46-50-54-60-62-64 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches under the sleeve, knit 68-74-78-86-94-99, place the next 46-50-54-60-62-64 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches under the sleeve, knit the last 34-37-39-43-47-50 stitches. BODY: = 152-164-176-192-212-222 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch in the round for a further 24-24-24-25-25-25 cm = 9½"-9½"-9½"-9¾"-9¾"-9¾". Now increase 13-13-16-18-19-21 stitches evenly on the next round = 165-177-192-210-231-243 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and work rib (knit 1, purl 2) for 4 cm = 1½". Bind off. The sweater measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" from the shoulder down. SLEEVES: Place the 46-50-54-60-62-64 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 5.5 MM = US 9 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 54-58-64-70-74-76 stitches. Insert a marker in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve. Work stockinette stitch in the round for 2 cm = ¾". Now decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 4½-4-3-2-2-1½ cm = 1⅝"-1½"-1⅛"-¾"-¾"-½" a total of 7-8-10-13-14-14 times = 40-42-44-44-46-48 stitches. When the sleeve measures 34-33-31-31-29-28 cm = 13⅜"-13"-12¼"-12¼"-11⅜"-11" from the division, increase 5-6-7-7-5-6 stitches evenly spaced = 45-48-51-51-51-54 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6 and work rib (purl 2, knit 1) for 8 cm = 3⅛". Bind off. The sleeve measures approx. 42-41-39-39-37-36 cm = 16½"-16⅛"-15¼"-15¼"-14½"-14¼" from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
