Half domino square (horizontal)

In this DROPS video we show you how to work a half domino square (horizontal). We already picked up stitches along the edges along one side of the dominos square and the vertical half square below. We also placed 1 marker in the middle st. We now work as follows: Row 1 (= WS): K all sts. Row 2 (= RS): K until 1 st remains before marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, K rest of row. Repeat 1st and 2nd row, i.e. dec 2 sts in the middle of the square on every RS row, at the same time slip last st at the end of every row on 1 thread or stitch holder. Continue until 3 or 4 st remain on needle (In this video we have 4 st). Work next row (= RS) as follows: Slip 1 st as if to K, K 2 tog, psso, slip last st on row on the stitch holder in the side (if you had 4 st remaining). We now have 5 sts on the thread on each side of the middle st. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining middle sts. In this video we slip the stitches back on the needle to show the result of the half square, but DON'T FORGET - you need to read the pattern to get the accurate result. Domino knit - Half domino square (vertical).

In this DROPS video we show you how to work a half domino square (vertical). Domino knit

This is how you knit a domino diamond. Make several for your starting row. Then pick up sts along sides of two diamonds and work another diamond. Always make sure to slip 1st st on each row, and knit the last one, then you will have a nice edge on the diamond to pick up sts in afterwards. WS rows: knit if you are working in garter, purl if stockinette. RS rows: knit all sts and work middle 3 sts together to 1 stitch by: slip 1, K2 tog, pass slipped st over. Pull yarn through last st on diamond.

How to work a domino square

In this DROPS video we show how we work a domino square. Cast on 5 stitches and insert 1 marker thread in the middle stitch. Work the domino square as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 2 (= right side): Knit as far as the stitch with the marker thread, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (stitch with marker thread), 1 yarn over, knit to end of row. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 4 (= right side): Knit as far as the stitch with the marker thread, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (stitch with marker thread), 1 yarn over, knit to end of row. Work ROWS 1-4 onwards until finish measurement. Bind off – but on the bind-off row increase as before in the corner; yarn overs are bind off as you go (this avoids the corners being tight). How to knit the bottom edge in DROPS 173-15

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit the bottom edge of the Tauriel Cardigan in DROPS 173-15. We knit stripes and short rows along the right front piece bottom edge, right and left back piece bottom edge and finishing off with the left front piece bottom edge. We knit one repeat of row 1-8 on each piece and hereafter jump to next piece. This cardigan is knitted in DROPS Fabel, but in the video we knit with a thicker yarn, DROPS Snow.
