How to work a central double decrease

In this DROPS video we show how to work a central double decrease, like the one we see in the raglan line to the «Clear Winter Sky» sweater in DROPS 236-24. Work until there is 1 stitch left before marker-stitch, slip 2 stitches as if to knit together, knit 1, pass the slipped stitches over the knitted stitch. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. Raglan dec from RS and WS

Here is an example of how you decrease for raglan on both the right side and the wrong side of your work. Dec as follows from right side: Start 4 sts before the marker: K 2 tog, K 4 (the marker is in the center of these 4 sts), slip 1 as if to knit, K 1, psso. Dec as follows from wrong side: Start 4 sts before the marker: P 2 tog twisted, P 4, P 2 tog.

Slip sleeves on the same needle as body piece where bind off for armholes. Insert a marker in all transitions between body piece and sleeves. Now dec for raglan. In our video we are dec each side of 2 sts at each transition on every other row, i.e. every row from RS, this gives 4 sts in stockinette at each transition. Start 3 sts before marker; K2 tog, K1, marker, K1, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso. (For 2 stockinette sts in each transition: Start 2 sts before marker; K2 tog, marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso)

How to work raglan from the bottom up

In this DROPS video we show how to work raglan on a sweater from the bottom up. There are several ways to work the decreases to raglan, but in this video, we show a simple basic way where it is decrease before and after the markers (4 marker threads are added in the piece between front piece, back piece and sleeves). Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2, marker thread is between these 2 stitches, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked. Repeat at each of the remaining marker threads (= 8 stitches decreased). On next round knit over all stitches, then work one round where you decrease to raglan again. How often it should decrease, read the pattern you are working after. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. Raglan with holes.

Dec at every marker as follows: K until 5 sts remain before marker, K the next 2 tog, make 1 YO, K the next 2 tog, K 2 (marker is between these 2 sts), * slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso *, make 1 YO, repeat from *-* 1 more time = 1 dec st and 1 YO on each side of marker. Put sleeve sts (which has been worked back and forth on needle) on the same circular needle as front and back pieces. When you work on a circular needle and should work raglan or round yoke, start to work front and back until armholes. On next round bind off 4 sts for armhole each side (or number of sts told in pattern). Now work the sleeves, then bind off 2 sts each side (or number of sts told in pattern) for sleeve cap. Then put sleeve sts on the same circular needle where sts where bound off for armhole each side. In the video we show a front and back piece where we have bound off for arm hole at the side, and then how to work the sleeve sts on to the same circular needle. How to end the raglan decreases on the front piece in DROPS Children 32-20

In this DROPS video we show the last two rows with raglan and neck decreases to the front piece in DROPS Children 32-20. The middle stitches are put on 1 thread for neck and each shoulder (5 stitches x 2) are worked separately. Left shoulder – start from the right side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, decrease for raglan as before (slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch), knit 2 stitches together (decrease for neck) = 3 stitches on needle, turn work. Purl from the wrong side, 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, turn work. 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, decrease for raglan = 2 stitches on needle. Turn and bind off stitches by purling. Work right shoulder from the right as follows: knit 2 stitches together (decrease for neck), decrease for raglan (knit 2 stitches together), 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (=3 stitches). Turn work and work 1 stitch in garter stitch, purl from the wrong side, turn work. Decrease for raglan, 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, turn work and bind off stitches by purling. We use the yarn DROPS Air in the video, the same yarn we use in the pattern. You must read the pattern to be able to follow this video properly.
