Stripes crochet

When you crochet stripes, or want to change color, this his how you do it; when working the last stitch with the old color wait with the last pull through. Take new color and now pull trough. Tighten the old thread. Turn work with a ch and keep working with the new color. If there is a longer distance between the stripes make sure to twist the new color around the previous one when you reach the edge, so that the old color follow the side of your work until you will use it. If this is a sweater the threads will run along the inside of side seam, if it's a potholder, you can make a crochet edge around the potholder afterward to cover the treads along the edge.

Lemon peel - crochet texture

This is a nice crochet texture, similar to a knitted seed stitch look. Start with a row of chain sts, turn and in each chain alternate by working every other stitch as sc and dc. On next row work sc in the dc and dc in the sc. Repeat this row for lemon peel pattern.

Loop stitches crochet

Fun and decorative! Make a loop edge, a loop scarf, a loop hat... Work a row of chains to start. Row 1: Work a row with sc in each chain. Row 2: Work loops: work a sc in first sc. *In next sc make a loop by pulling the yarn a bit long on your left finger, stick hook through the stitch, pick up the yarn in the back loop, pull through stitch, now you have 2 sts on hook, get yarn and pull through both sts on hook*, repeat *-* until end of row, end with a sc in last st. Turn. Row 3: Work a sc in each stitch. Repeat row 2 and 3 for loops on one side of piece. If you want loops on both sides repeat row 2 on every row.

Double Crochet cross stitch

Work on an even number of sts. Work cross dc's as follows: ch 3, * skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st, then 1 dc in st that was skipped *, repeat from *-* across row, end with a dc in last st. For a nice pattern work every other row with sc, and every other with cross dc's as we are showing in the video.

Broomstick lace

...aka jiffy lace or peacock eye crochet, a historic crochet technique from the 19th century. Created by using a crochet hook and a thick knitting needle. Traditionally a broomstick was used, but a big lightweight needle as the one we use in our video works better. The larger needle the lacier effect. The fabric created is soft yet stable, and well-suited for scarfs and blankets where an interesting lacy effect may be desired. The base of the pattern is a chain stitch. The number of ch stitches are normally multiples of 3 through 6, in our video we used 5. We start with 15 ch which is 3 times 5. Row 1: Pick up a loop through each of the ch stitches and transfer loops onto the needle. Row 2: Work sts from the needle by sliding them off in groupings of 5 at a time and working the 5 single crochet stitches through the top of each group of loops at the same time. Row 3: Pick up a loop through each of the sc and transfer them onto the needle. Repeat row 2-3.

Rib - crochet horizontal

We show how to crochet an elastic rib edge, perfect as a hat edge or edge on socks. Ch a number of sts for desired width. Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, then work 1 sc in every ch across. Rib - crochet vertical

We show how to crochet an elastic rib pattern. Ch a number of sts for desired width, should be a multiple of 2. Row 1: Work a dc in 3rd ch from hook, then work 1 dc in every ch across. Row 2: ch 2, *dc in front post (dcfp), dc in back post (dcbp), repeat from * across, hdc in last st. Row 3: ch 2, *dc in back post, dc in front post, repeat from * across, hdc in last st. Repeat row 2 and 3 for rib pattern.

Crochet: Catherine Wheel stitch

When you work this pattern the way we do in this DROPS Video, you need to start with a multiple of 10 + 2 ch. In our smaller sample we started with 22 ch. Row 1: starting in 2nd ch from hook work 2 sc, *skip 3 ch, 7 dc in next ch, skip 3 ch, sc in next 3 ch, rep from *, end with sc in last 2 ch on row, and in last pull through change color. Turn. Row 2: ch 3 from 1st sc, work dc in next 3 sts and wait with last pull through on each dc, then pull through all, and then ch 1 to secure, ch 3, 3 sc, ch 3, *dc in next 7 sts and wait with last pull through on each dc, then pull through all 8 sts on hook, ch 1 to secure, ch 3, 3 sc, ch 3, rep from *, dc in last 4 sts and wait with last pull through on each dc, then pull through all 5 sts on hook, ch 1 to secure. Turn. Row 3: ch 3, 3 dc in ch-hole on prev row, sc in next 3 sc from prev row, *7 dc in next hole, sc in next 3 sc, rep from *, 4 dc in last hole and on last pull through change color. Turn. Row 4: ch 1, sc in 1st and 2nd st, *ch 3, dc in next 7 sts and wait with last pull through on each dc, then pull through all 8 sts on hook, ch 1 to secure, ch 3, 3 sc, rep from *, end with sc in last 2 sts. Turn. Row 5: ch 1, sc in 1st and 2nd st, * 7 dc in next hole, 3 sc, rep from *, end with sc in last 2 sts on row and in last pull through change color. Turn. Repeat row 2-5

Crocodile Stitch – crochet

Very popular and fun crochet pattern. In this DROPS Video we show how to make it. Chain a multiples of 6 + 4, on our sample we chained 16. Work all rows from RS, without turning work after each row. Row 1: 1 dc in 4th ch, *ch 2, skip 2 ch, 2 dc in next ch, repeat from * across. Row 2: ch 3, 4 dc down around post on 1st dc, ch 1, 5 dc up around post on next dc, *ch 1, skip next set of 2 dc's, 5 dc down around post on next dc, ch 1, 5 dc up around post on next dc, repeat from * across. Row 3: sl st into center of last scale, ch 3, 1 dc in the same sp, *ch 2, 2 dc in between next set of 2 dc's and work around both layers, ch 2, 2 dc into center of next scale, repeat from * across. Row 4: ch 1, skip 1 dc, *5 dc down around post on next dc, ch 1, 5 dc up around post on next dc, ch 1, skip next set of 2 dc's, repeat from * across, end with a sl st between last 2 dc's on row. Here we are sharing a decorative crochet texture, which can be applied to many crochet projects. In this Drops Video we show you how to: Start by working a chain row with an even number of chain stitches. Work a sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch1, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch, repeat from * across, turn. Row 1: ch 1, skip 1st sc, *sc in ch sp, ch1, skip 1 sc, repeat from * across, end row with sc in turning ch at beg of prev row, turn. Repeat row 1 for pattern. Royal ridge stitches

Here we are sharing a double sided decorative crochet texture, which can be applied to many crochet projects. Perfect for potholders, scarves and other pieces that need 2 interesting sides. In this Drops Video we show you how to: We have already worked a chain row with an odd number of stitches, turned and worked a hdc in 3nd ch from hook, and 1 hdc in each ch across. The video start when it is 2 hdc left, work then 1 hdc in the last 2 hdc. Turn. Row 1: ch 2, work hdc in each hdc, but instead of working as usual through the 2 top loops, you work through the loop under the 2 top loops, end row with a hdc in turning ch at beg of prev row. Repeat row 1 for royal ridge pattern.

How to crochet an easy lace pattern after chart

In this DROPS video we show how to crochet an easy lace pattern after chart. We have already worked 1 row with double crochet. We repeat the chart 6 times in width with 1 double crochet / 3 chain stitches in each side. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. Round yoke crochet: how to work body/sleeve under yoke

In this DROPS video we show you how to continue with the body and under sleeve after completing a round yoke. In the video we work as follows: work the dc on left front piece, 4 ch = under sleeve, dc on back piece, 4 ch = under sleeve and finishing with dc on right front piece. In the second row we show how to work dc around the ch under each sleeve. At the end we show how to start working around the armhole to start on a top down sleeve. Two colors crochet back and forth

Make small motifs, vertical lines, dots, letters.... When you work with 2 colors back and forth and you want to carry along the thread, then you just crochet around the thread you are not working with to carry it along. On the last stitch you make with one color, wait with last pull through and pull through with the new color of the following stitch. You can carry along a color by crocheting around it for as many stitches you want, then when it is time to change, you just use it in the last pull through and continue with that color. If it's not a single motif and you will use the 2nd color again later on the row, you can carry it along while working around that one until you need it again. Remember - when carrying along a color or more the fabric will become much thicker. An alternative to carry along the thread you can work with small balls/bobbins and we have a separate video for that.

Motif - crochet

The video is showing how you can crochet a motif by using multiple colors. Use one separate ball of yarn for each color field. In the last stitch of a color wait with last pull through and pull through with next color. When changing colors also make sure to twist the strands, and tighten, to avoid holes between colors.

Multiple colors - crochet

The principle when crocheting with multiple colors is to use a separate ball for each color field. In the last stitch of a color wait with last pull through and pull through with next color. It is important to plan the next row when you are working a row, so that you bring the thread to where it will be used on the next row. I.e in this video the pink will be used from the start of the next row, so when you are finished with the pink color on this row and you continue green, you crochet around the pink yarn so that you bring it to the edge. When changing colors also make sure to twist the strands, and tighten, to avoid holes between colors.

Crochet: Stripes with 2 colors

When working stripes in two colors back and forth we sometimes ask you to leave the loop hanging at the end of a row and then work next row from the side where you left the yarn on previous row. In this DROPS Video we show how to do so. This is a great technique you can use to avoid cutting the yarn and having too many loose ends to weave in at the end. Stripes when crochet in the round

Crochet color change when working in the round When making the sl st at the end of the round, pick up the new color and pull through. Continue with the new color. You can fasten the yarn end from the color change by letting the strand be worked into the piece a bit before cutting it off (work with the new color around the yarn end).

Start with a dc and new color

This is a way to start a new round on a granny square, or a new row, when starting with a dc. By doing like this you will have the tail on the top so that you on next round can crochet around it, and even if you change color on every round, there will be a minimum of tails to weave in at the end. Put a slip knot with new color on the hook, make a yo, go through st on previous round, get yarn, make a yo and pull through 2 sts, make yet one more yo and pull through the last two sts.

How to work double crochet with 2 colors and color change

In this DROPS video we show how to crochet with 2 colors. When working with 2 colors lay the strand of the color not being used OVER the stitches from the previous round (not behind) and work around the strand so that it is hidden and carried forward. When changing color work as follows: Work the last double crochet with the first color, but wait with the last pull-through, change to the next color and work the last pull-through with the new color, then work the next double crochet. When you are crocheting sc's in the round you begin each round with 1 ch that replaces the first sc on this next round. To mark the beginning it is a good idea to use a scrap yarn to mark the 1st stitch on the round. Finish each round with 1 sl st in the chain from beg of round. Make sure to not work the sc that the ch was made in! Keep moving the marking thread for each round.
