When you are crocheting sc's in the round you begin each round with 1 ch that replaces the first sc on this next round.
To mark the beginning it is a good idea to use a scrap yarn to mark the 1st stitch on the round.
Finish each round with 1 sl st in the chain from beg of round. Make sure to not work the sc that the ch was made in! Keep moving the marking thread for each round.

Bonjour Mme Gerard, au time code 00:35, nous faisons la maille en l'air du début du tour qui va remplacer la 1ère maille serrée, à 00:45 nous crochetons 1 maille serrée dans la maille serrée suivante puis tout le tour; à la fin du tour: à 1:54, nous montrons la maille en l'air dans laquelle nous allons crocheter la maille coulée qui va fermer le tour. Lorsque vous comptez vos mailles, la maille en l'air comptera pour la 1ère maille serrée. Au début, il peut être sage de bien compter ses mailles si on n'est pas sûre. Bon crochet!

In this DROPS video we show how you can crochet round and round without finishing each round. We have already crocheted a chain stitches row and start the video how to form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Then work 2 chain stitches (replacing the first half-double crochet), 1 half-double crochet in each of the remaining chain stitches, 2 half-double crochets around the 2 chain stitches at the beginning of the round. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round to show where it begins and work round and round without finishing each round. On round 2 work the first double crochet in the 2nd chain stitch from the beginning of first round, then work 1 double crochet in each half-double crochet. This round is not finished in the usual way, the first double crochet in next round is worked in the first double crochet from previous round. Then continue round and round with 1 double crochet in each double crochet. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. In this DROPS video we show how to get a straight line running down the beginning/the end of the rounds. Work in the round alternately from the right and wrong side, turning the piece after each round. It you work round and round from the right side; the line at the beginning of the round is then slightly diagonal (see the sample patch on the right at the beginning of the video). We also work the piece in stripes and to get a neat transition when changing colours, we work the slip stitch at the end of the round in the new colour. Each round of double crochets begins with 3 chain stitches which do not replace the first double crochet. The rounds finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. You’ll find patterns where you can use this technique by clicking on the pictures below.

In this DROPS video we how to make 3 strands out of 1 single strand from a ball of yarn. 1. Make a simple loop (like the loop worked when you begin any crochet project) and pull it to approx. 2-3 cm = ¾"-1⅛" in length. 2. Thread the strand from the skein through this loop, creating a new loop of approx. 40-50 cm = 15¾"-19¾". 3. Lay this loop alongside the working strand, so 1 strand becomes 3 strands. 4. Knit or crochet using these 3 strands until there is approx. 2 cm = ¾" left. Repeat points 2 to 4.

In this DROPS video we show you how to join 2 pieces together (A and B), then binding off with an I-cord. Place all the stitches from A and B on the same needle, so that every second stitch on the needle belongs to A and B. We bind off with I-cord as follows: - Cast on 3 stitches onto the right needle. Slip the 3 stitches from the right needle onto the left needle with the working strand now situated 3 stitches in on the left needle. - ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 2, knit 3 twisted together (i.e., 1 stitch from the front piece and 1 stitch from the back piece is decreased). Slip 3 stitches from the right needle back onto the left needle. Do not turn (working like this tightens the working strand so the piece forms a small tube). - Repeat ROW 1 until there are 3 stitches left. Bind off and fasten all strands.
