Hola Maria, generalmente, trabajarás el diagrama cuando te lo indiquen y no antes; por ejemplo te dirán "trabajar A.1" en el patrón. En ese caso, comienzas trabajando la 1ª fila del diagrama. Es posible que algunos diagramas tienen un asterisco/estrella en la 1ª fila; esto indica que ya se ha trabajado previamente esta fila (por ejemplo la fila intermedia que indicas tú) y se trabaja el diagrama sobre los puntos altos de la fila/vuelta anterior.

Hola Mariana, la manta no lleva ningún borde. El borde puede quedar irregular si la tensión del tejido ha variado a lo largo de la labor. Para mejorar los bordes puedes hacer un remate con puntos bajos o punto cangrejo.
