Basket weave – knit

Nice dense texture, perfect use for baskets and interior items like pillows, place mats and Ipad covers, but also for windproof hats and mittens. Work back and forth on needle. Cast on an uneven number of stitches. Purl a row on WS. Row 1 (RS): K1, *K into back loop of 2nd st on left needle, then K into 1st st on left needle, then drop these 2 sts from left needle, repeat from * across until 2 sts rem on row, K2. Row 2 (WS): K1, *P into front loop of 2nd st on left needle, then P into 1st st on left needle, then drop these 2 sts from from left needle, repeat from * across until 2 sts rem on row, P1, K1. Repeat row 1-2.

Pattern: Herringbone stitch in the round

In this DROPS video we show you how to work the herringbone stitch in the round. This pretty herringbone texture is not as complicated as it may look. The classic texture is perfect for patterns like scarfs, neck warmers, hats and interior design. The fabric gets dense so you need to work on a larger needle than recommended for the yarn size. HERRINGBONE PATTERN (divisible with an even number): Make sure the stitches aren’t twisted around the needle, and join by slipping the last stitch you cast on from the right needle to the left needle (so that it is next to the first stitch you cast on). Place a stitch marker on the right needle. K2tog and slip only the first stitch off the left needle (leaving the second stitch on the needle). Round 1: K2tog and slip only the first stitch off the left needle, repeat until 1 stitch remains before the stitch marker. When you have 1 st left before the stitch marker, remove the stitch marker and place it on the right needle. K2tog, slipping the first stitch off the left needle. Remove the next stitch on the left needle, twist it the other way and put it back on the needle. Round 2: K2tog through the back loop and slip only the first stitch off the left needle, repeat until 1 st remains before the stitch marker. When you have 1 st left before the stitch marker, remove the stitch marker and place it on the right needle. K2tog through the back loop and slip only the first stitch off the left needle. Remove the next stitch on the left needle, twist it the other way and put it back on the needle. Repeat round 1 and 2.

Honeycomb with slip stitches

Cast on an even number of sts. Knit 1st and last stitch on every row and pattern over the rest of the sts like this: Row 1 (WS): K1,*slip 1 as if to purl with yarn behind work, K1*, repeat *-* across, end with K1. Row 2 (RS): Knit Row 3: K1, *K1, slip 1 as if to purl with yarn behind work*, repeat *-* across, end with K1. Row 4: Knit Repeat row 1-4.

Rice pattern

Rice pattern This is an easy and nice looking textured pattern, a 2 row repeat only. Cast on an even number of stitches. Row 1 RS: K1, *P1, K1 tbl (through back loop)*, repeat *-* end row with K1. Row 2 WS: K all sts on row. Repeat row 1-2 for pattern.

Waffle pattern – basic waffle with K and P sts

Cast on a number of sts that can be divided by 3 + 1. In this video we cast on 16 sts (15+1) and we already worked 4 pattern repeats to make the texture show: Row 1 (WS): K1, * P2, K1 *, repeat *-* across. Row 2 (RS): P1, * K2, P1 *, repeat *-* across. Row 3 (WS): K across. Row 4 (RS): same as Row.2 Repeat row 1-4 until desired length and bind off on row 3.

How to knit a waffle pattern

n this DROPS Video we show how to work a waffle pattern. This waffle pattern is use in the blanket in DROPS 157-21. In this video we have already worked some rows, so you can better see the pattern. Star pattern

In this DROPS Video we show how to work a star pattern. This star pattern is use the blanket in DROPS 157-21. We start the video with Row 1 (RS): Row 1 (= RS): K 1 row. Row 2 (= WS): K 1, * P 3 tog without lifting them off the needle, 1 YO, P 3 tog in same 3 sts and drop them off the needle, K 1 * repeat from *-* the entire row. Row 3 (= RS): K 1 row. Blackberry pattern worked in circular needle

When this pattern is worked in the round, RS will be on the inside of piece. I.e. that the piece is worked with WS outwards and then turned inside out when done. Blackberry stitches

The pattern is divisible by 4 sts. 1st and 3rd row (right side): Purl. 2nd row (wrong side): *K 1, P 1, K 1 in the same stitch, P 3 tog in next st*, repeat from *-* throughout the row. 4th row: *P 3 tog, in the next stitch K 1, P 1, K 1*, repeat from *-* throughout the row. Entrelac on straight needles

Entrelac is when you knit squares in multiple directions. First you make a row of triangles, then you pick up sts along the sides, work half squares at each side and full squares in the middle. If each square should be i.e 5 sts wide, then you cast on 5 sts for each triangle to start with. So for 3 triangles you cast on 15 sts.

Herringbone knitting stitch

This pretty herringbone texture is not as complicated as it may look. The classic texture is perfect for patterns like scarfs, neck warmers, bags and interior design. The fabric gets dense and you work on a larger needle than recommended for the yarn size. We use DROPS Merino Extra Fine, a DK weight in yarn group B, and we are using a size 13 (9 mm ) needle. HERRINGBONE PATTERN (divisible with an even number + edge sts): Row 1 (RS): K1 (edge st in garter st), K2tog through back loops but *don't move the worked sts over to the right needle, drop the first st from left needle, and K second st tog with next st, repeat *-* until 2 sts remain on row, K1, K1 (edge st in garter st). Row 2 (WS): K1, P2tog but *don't move the worked sts over to the right needle, drop the first st from left needle, and P second st tog with next st, repeat *-* until 2 sts remain on row, P1, K1 edge st. Repeat row 1 and 2.

Linen stitch knitted

This is an easy knitted dense texture that is great for scarfs, bags and maybe especially interior designs, like table runners, place mats, potholders, wash cloths etc. Also great used as edge sts on garments where you don't want the bottom edge or front edges to roll... Towards the end of video we also show how interesting the colorwork comes out working 2 rows alternately with 2 different colors. Cast on an even number of sts. Work 1 edge st each side in garter st (K on every row). 1st row (WS): K1 (edge st), *P1, slip 1 purl-wise with yarn in back (from you)*, repeat *-*, end with K1. 2nd row (RS): K1 (edge st), *K1, slip 1 purl-wise with yarn in front (towards you)*, repeat *-*, end with K1. Repeat row 1 and 2. When binding off, works still in pattern as you slip next to last st worked on right needle over last st worked.

Simple textured pattern - just K and P sts.

Pattern: Easy textured pattern

Textured pattern can be worked in many different ways with knit and purl stitches, and can be used in several garments to create an exciting effect. You can use it in cloths, jumpers, blankets, jackets and many other. In this DROPS video we show one way of working textured pattern. How to knit the flowerpattern - Daisy

In this DROPS video we show how to knit the flower pattern - Daisy. Cast on a number of stitches divided by 4 +1 (+optionally edge stitches). In the video we have already cast on 16 + 1 stitches and we start with row 1. First we show row 1 to 4 with green color, then we show row 1-2 in amethyst and row 3 -4 in green and in the end we show 6 reports of row 1 to 4. Row 1: (RS), knit all stitches. Row 2: (WS), knit 1 stitch, * put the thread in front of work, purl 3 stitches together, but do not take the stitches off the left needle, yarn over the right needle, put the right needle through the same 3 stitches, get the thread and pull it through the 3 stitches, take the stitches off the left needle, knit 1 stitch *, repeat from *-* the entire row. Row 3: (change color if desired): Knit all stitches. Row 4: knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch,* knit 1 stitch, put the thread in front of work, purl 3 stitches together, but do not take the stitches off the left needle, yarn over the right needle, put the right needle through the same 3 stitches, get the thread and pull it through the 3 stitches, take the stitches off the left needle, knit 1 stitch *, repeat from *-* the entire row and finish with knit 1, purl 1 and knit 1. How to work a mosaic pattern

In this DROPS video we show you how to work a mosaic pattern after chart. We work A.1, then 2 rapports of chart A.2 and end with chart A.1. We have already work 12 rows and show how to work row 13 to row 20. Remember to read the explanation about mosaic pattern in the pattern. There may be different charts and the explanation in different patterns, but the technique is the same. This shawl is worked in DROPS Alpaca, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. How to work the Pebble stitch

In this DROPS video we show how we work a simple texture pattern, also called the "Pebble" stitch. Cast on a number of stitches divisible by 2, we have cast on 16 stitches + 1 edge stitch in each side (knit on each row) = 18 stitches. 1. ROW (right side): Knit all stitches. 2. ROW (wrong side): Knit 1 edge stitch, purl all stitches, but knit the last stitch (edge stitch). 3. ROW: Knit 1 edge stitch, knit 2 and 2 together all row, knit 1 edge stitch. 4. How to work a Pepita pattern after charts.

In this DROPS video we show how to work a Pepita pattern after charts. This Pepita pattern is used in the “Back to School» vest in DROPS 218-22. This vest is worked in DROPS Alpaca, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. You must read the pattern and look at the charts to be able to follow this video properly. Square knitted in garter

We have several designs based on knitted squares. This is how you knit a square: Cast on 8 sts on double pointed needles. Distribute sts on 4 needles with 2 sts per needle. Knit a first round and at the same time insert a marker in the first stitch on every needle. Round 2: Knit the stitches with markers and purl remaining sts at the same time inc 1 st by making a yarn over on each side of each st with marker (= 8 inc per round). Round 3: Knit all sts, knit YO into back of loop to avoid holes. Repeat Round 2 and 3.
