How to crochet round and round without finishing each round

In this DROPS video we show how you can crochet round and round without finishing each round. We have already crocheted a chain stitches row and start the video how to form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Then work 2 chain stitches (replacing the first half-double crochet), 1 half-double crochet in each of the remaining chain stitches, 2 half-double crochets around the 2 chain stitches at the beginning of the round. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round to show where it begins and work round and round without finishing each round. On round 2 work the first double crochet in the 2nd chain stitch from the beginning of first round, then work 1 double crochet in each half-double crochet. This round is not finished in the usual way, the first double crochet in next round is worked in the first double crochet from previous round. Then continue round and round with 1 double crochet in each double crochet. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. In this DROPS video we show how to get a straight line running down the beginning/the end of the rounds. Work in the round alternately from the right and wrong side, turning the piece after each round. Start by chaining a band and then join to a ring by working a slip stitch in first ch. Now ch 1 and then continue working 1 sc in each ch st. After last sc on each round, work a sl st in first sc on round, ch 1, then continue in the round with 1 sc in every sc.

When you are crocheting sc's in the round you begin each round with 1 ch that replaces the first sc on this next round. To mark the beginning it is a good idea to use a scrap yarn to mark the 1st stitch on the round. Finish each round with 1 sl st in the chain from beg of round. Make sure to not work the sc that the ch was made in! Keep moving the marking thread for each round.

The stitches on top of the foot are placed on a thread, while the stitches at the back are kept on the needles and the heel is worked as follows (the heel extends under the foot): 1) The heel is worked back and forth across the heel-stitches to achieve the correct height. For this type of heel, the length reaches midway under the heel. 2) Next, the heel is knitted together beneath the foot. 3) The sock is then continued in the round, with stitches picked up along both sides of the heel length, working towards the toe. 4) This heel creates a square shape, which is why this type of heel is known as a square heel.
