I am making size 12-18 months and am ready to divide for the body and sleeves. I would like to confirm how many stitches between the 4x 5 raglan stitches I should have for each sleeve and front and body
23.04.2025 - 14:25DROPS Design answered:
Dear Gisele, the first 3 sts first A.1 belong to back piece, the last 2 sts first A.1 + the first 2 sts next A.1 to the sleeves - the last 3 sts next A.1 + the first 3 sts next A.1 belong to front piece and the last 3 sts next (last) A.1 belong to back piece. Happy knitting!

Not sure if you'll be able to answer this, but I am very new to knitting and I'm trying to do this sweater, however, the design that is supposed to be along the shoulders is not lining up, and on the back of the sweater there is two lines from the design, not sure if they're supposed to be there.... Sorry if this is confusing, let me know if I need to describe it better :) Thank you so much!
17.04.2025 - 19:06DROPS Design answered:
Dear Katrina, for the back and front pieces you should have a repeat of A.1 on each side of the shoulders. You can see how this line looks like in the zoomed photo of the sweater. A.1 is always knitted between the yarn overs, in the raglan line, and these lines will be more and more spaced between them as you continue working (the number of stitches in stocking stitch between them increases as you continue with the raglan increases). Happy knitting!

Ik heb 76 steken opgezet en ben na de voorsteek overgegaan met de pas. Na 1 naald recht, heb ik de volgende naald als volgt gedaan: 10 recht, 1 omslag, A.1, 1 omslag, 8 recht, 1 omslag, A.1, 1 omslag, 20 recht, 1 omslag, A.1, 1 omslag, 8 recht, 1 omslag, A.1, 1 omslag, 10 recht.
A.1 is 5 steken.

I am a bit confused about this direction - Where it says "continue the pattern " do I use the same pattern as the first row (as follows? Knit 5-6-7-8 (8-10), 1 yarn over, A.1, 1 yarn over, knit 6-6-6-6 (8-8), 1 yarn over, A.1, 1 yarn over, knit 11-13-15-17 (17-20), 1 yarn over, A.1, 1 yarn over, knit 6-6-6-6 (8-8), 1 yarn over, A.1, 1 yarn over, knit 6-7-8-9 (9-10). AND DO I ONLY INCREASE EVERY OTHER ROW? Continue the pattern and increase for raglan on each side of every A.1 every 2nd round
19.01.2025 - 18:55DROPS Design answered:
Dear Karen, yes, you continue this pattern but remember that you will have more knit stitches in-between the A.1 repeats (since the yarn overs will be knitted) So, for example, for the smallest size, instead of "knit 5, 1 yarn over, A.1", you will have "knit 6, 1 yarn over, A.1". You will increase every 2nd round; that is, you increase in 1 round, work normally while working the yarn overs twisted on the next round and increase again in the 3rd round. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. DECREASE TIP (sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on either side of the marker as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The yoke is worked in the round, top down, with double pointed needles/short circular needle. The yoke is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles. NECK: Cast on 54-58-62-66 (70-76) stitches with double pointed needles/short circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 and DROPS Merino Extra Fine. Knit 1 round, then work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 2 cm = ¾". Change to double pointed needles/short circular needle size 4 MM = US 6. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round; the yoke is measured from this marker! YOKE: Knit 1 round. The next round is worked as follows: Knit 5-6-7-8 (8-10), 1 yarn over, A.1, 1 yarn over, knit 6-6-6-6 (8-8), 1 yarn over, A.1, 1 yarn over, knit 11-13-15-17 (17-20), 1 yarn over, A.1, 1 yarn over, knit 6-6-6-6 (8-8), 1 yarn over, A.1, 1 yarn over, knit 6-7-8-9 (9-10). You have increased 8 stitches for raglan. The yarn overs are knitted twisted on the next round and then continued in stockinette stitch. Continue the pattern and increase for raglan on each side of every A.1 every 2nd round a total of 11-13-14-15 (17-18) times = 142-162-174-186 (206-220) stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 9-10-11-12 (13-14) cm = 3½"-4"-4⅜"-4¾" (5⅛"-5½") from the marker on the neck, divide for the body and sleeves as follows: Knit 19-22-24-26 (29-32), place the next 32-36-38-40 (44-46) stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8 (6-6) stitches, knit 39-45-49-53 (59-64), place the next 32-36-38-40 (44-46) stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8 (6-6) stitches, knit the last 20-23-25-27 (30-32) stitches. BODY: = 90-102-114-122 (130-140) stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch in the round until the piece measures 10-13-14-16 (18-21) cm = 4"-5⅛"-5½"-6¼" (7"-8¼") from the division. Increase 10-12-14-14 (16-16) stitches evenly spaced on the next round = 100-114-128-136 (146-156) stitches. Change to circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 and work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Bind off. The sweater measures approx. 24-28-30-33 (36-40) cm from the shoulder down. SLEEVES: Place the 32-36-38-40 (44-46) stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8 (6-6) stitches cast on under the sleeve = 38-42-46-48 (50-52) stitches. Insert a marker in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve. Start at the marker and work stockinette stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 2 cm = ¾" from the division, decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker - read DECREASE TIP! Decrease like this every 3-3-2-2½ (3-4) cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-¾"-1" (1⅛"-1½") a total of 2-3-5-5 (5-5) times = 34-36-36-38 (40-42) stitches. When the sleeve measures 8-11-12-15 (18-23) cm = 3⅛"-4⅜"-4¾"-6" (7"-9"), increase 4-4-4-4 (4-6) stitches evenly spaced = 38-40-40-42 (44-48) stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 and work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 2 cm = ¾". Bind off. The sleeve measures approx. 10-13-14-17 (20-25) cm = 4"-5⅛"-5½"-6¾" (8"-9¾"). Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
