------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch before/after the raglan-stitch in each transition between body and sleeves. Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On the next round work the yarn overs as follows: BEFORE the marker-stitch: Slip the yarn over knit-wise onto the right needle, insert the left needle and replace it on the left needle (i.e., twisted), knit the front loop. AFTER the marker-stitch: Knit the yarn over twisted. Work the stripes as follows: 12-12-14-14-16-16 rounds with 4 strands color off white 2 rounds with 3 strands color off white + 1 strand color marzipan 4 rounds with 3 strands color marzipan + 1 strand color off white 2 rounds with 2 strands color off white + 2 strands color marzipan 2 rounds with 1 strand color off white + 2 strands color marzipan + 1 strand color almond 2 rounds with 4 strands color marzipan 2 rounds with 1 strand color bright sand + 2 strands color marzipan + 1 strand color off white 4 rounds with 2 strands color marzipan + 2 strands color bright sand 2 rounds with 3 strands color bright sand + 1 strand color marzipan 2 rounds with 4 strands color bright sand 2 rounds with 2 strands color off white + 2 strands color bright sand 4 rounds with 3 strands color bright sand + 1 strand color almond 2 rounds with 1 strand color almond + 1 strand color off white + 1 strand color marzipan + 1 strand color bright sand 4 rounds with 3 strands color off white + 1 strand color almond 2 rounds with 2 strands color almond + 1 strand color off white + 1 strand color marzipan 4 rounds with 1 strand color almond + 1 strand color off white + 1 strand color marzipan + 1 strand bright sand 2 rounds with 2 strand color almond + 1 strand color off white + 1 strand color bright sand 4 rounds with 2 strands color almond + 2 strands color bright sand 2 rounds with 3 strands color almond + 1 strand color bright sand Finish with 4 strands color almond DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked in the round top down. NECK: Cast on 64-68-68-76-76-80 stitches with circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9 and 4 strands color off-white DROPS Kid-Silk. Knit 1 round, then work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm = 1½". Change to circular needle size 7 MM = US 10.75. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (= mid-back), the yoke is measured from here. YOKE: Work STRIPES – read description above and work the first round as follows: 10-10-10-12-12-14 stockinette stitches (approx. half back piece), make 1 yarn over, 1 stockinette stitch (raglan-stitch), make 1 yarn over, work 11-11-11-11-11-11 stockinette stitches (sleeve), make 1 yarn over, 1 stockinette stitch (raglan-stitch), make 1 yarn over, 19-21-21-25-25-27 stockinette stitches (front piece), make 1 yarn over, 1 stockinette stitch (raglan-stitch), make 1 yarn over, work 11-11-11-11-11-11 stockinette stitches (sleeve), make 1 yarn over, 1 stockinette stitch (raglan-stitch), make 1 yarn over, work 9-11-11-13-13-13 stockinette stitches (approx. half back piece). The first increase for RAGLAN is finished – read description above = 72-76-76-84-84-88 stitches. Raglan-stitches match knitted stitches on the rib. Continue with stockinette stitch and increase for raglan in each transition between the body and sleeves. Increase every 2nd round a total of 14-14-18-18-16-17 times (including the increase on the first round) = 176-180-212-220-204-216 stitches – REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Continue increasing for raglan every 2nd round, but every other increase is only on the front and back pieces, i.e. increase on the front and back pieces every 2nd round and on the sleeves every 4th round, alternately 4 and 8 increased stitches. Increase like this 2-4-2-2-8-8 times on the body (1-2-1-1-4-4 times on the sleeves). You have increased a total of 16-18-20-20-24-25 times on the body and 15-16-19-19-20-21 times on the sleeves. There are 188-204-224-232-252-264 stitches. Continue working without further increases until the yoke measures 20-23-25-26-30-31 cm = 8"-9"-9¾"-10¼"-11¾"-12¼" from the neck. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Work 27-29-31-33-37-40 stockinette stitches (half back piece), place the next 41-43-49-49-51-53 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-10 stitches (in side under sleeve), work 53-59-63-67-75-79 stockinette stitches (front piece), place the next 41-43-49-49-51-53 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-10 stitches (in side under sleeve), work 26-30-32-34-38-39 stockinette stitches (half back piece). The piece is now measured from here! BODY: = 118-130-138-150-166-178 stitches. Continue in the round with stockinette stitch and stripes. When the body measures 20-19-19-20-18-19 cm = 8"-7½"-7½"-8"-7"-7½", knit 1 round and increase 18-22-26-30-26-28 stitches evenly spaced = 136-152-164-180-192-206 stitches. Change to circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 6 cm = 2⅜". Bind off. The sweater measures approx. 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 41-43-49-49-51-53 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles size 7 MM = US 10.75 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-8-8-10 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 47-49-55-57-59-63 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 6-6-6-8-8-10 stitches under the sleeve. Start at the marker-thread and work stockinette stitch and stripes in the round. When the sleeve measures 4 cm = 1½", decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 7-5-3½-3-2½-2 cm = 2¾"-2"-1¼"-1⅛"-1"-¾" a total of 6-7-9-10-10-12 times = 35-35-37-37-39-39 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 41-39-38-36-33-32 cm = 16⅛"-15¼"-15"-14¼"-13"-12½" from the division. Knit 1 round and increase 5-5-5-5-7-7 stitches evenly spaced = 40-40-42-42-46-46 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 5.5 MM = US 9. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm = 1½". Bind off. The sleeve measures approx. 45-43-42-40-37-36 cm = 17¾"-17"-16½"-15¾"-14½"-14¼". |
