------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- ELEVATION: To make the sweater higher at the back when working a round yoke, work as follows; skip this section if you do not want an elevation. Start from the right side and knit 9-10-11-12-13-14-15 stitches past the marker-thread at the beginning of the round (mid-back), turn, tighten the strand and purl 18-20-22-24-26-28-30 back. Turn, tighten the strand and knit 27-30-33-36-39-42-45, turn, tighten the strand and purl 36-40-44-48-52-56-60 back. Turn, tighten the strand and knit 45-50-55-60-65-70-75, turn, tighten the strand and purl 54-60-66-72-78-84-90 back. Turn, tighten the strand and knit to the marker-thread mid-back. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for your size. The whole pattern is worked in stockinette stitch. KNITTING TIP: To avoid the knitting gauge losing its elasticity when working pattern, it is important that the strands at the back are not tight. Use a size larger needle when working pattern if the piece becomes tight. INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. DECREASE TIP (sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles. DOUBLE NECK: Cast on 80-84-86-88-90-94-96 stitches with color light beige DROPS Karisma, using short circular needles size 3 and 4 MM = US 6 held together. Remove the needle size 4 MM = US 6 and work with size 3 MM = US 2.5 (in the smallest sizes, use double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 if circular needle is too long). This gives you an elastic cast-on edge. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 7 cm = 2¾". Fold the neck double to the inside and work 1 more round of rib, working AT THE SAME TIME every 2nd stitch together with its corresponding stitch on the cast-on edge. You now have a double neck. YOKE: Change to needle size 4 MM = US 6. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round and allow it to follow your work onwards. Knit 1 round and increase 24-26-28-30-32-32-34 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 104-110-114-118-122-126-130 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the round (mid-front). The yoke is measured from this marker. Work an ELEVATION at the back – read description above. If you do not want an elevation, continue below. Work stockinette stitch in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE. When there are 2 rounds left before the yoke measures 3-3-4-4-5-5-6 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2⅜" from the marker, increase 24-26-30-34-38-42-46 stitches evenly on the first round = 128-136-144-152-160-168-176 stitches. After the 2 rounds, work pattern and increase as follows – read KNITTING TIP and PATTERN in explanations above. Work A.1 16-17-18-19-20-21-22 times on the round. AT THE SAME TIME on each round marked with an arrow increase as follows: ARROW-1: Increase 32-32-32-40-40-40-48 stitches evenly spaced = 160-168-176-192-200-208-224 stitches. ARROW-2: Increase 32-32-32-32-40-40-40 stitches evenly spaced = 192-200-208-224-240-248-264 stitches. ARROW-3: Increase 16-16-16-16-16-16-16 stitches evenly spaced = 208-216-224-240-256-264-280 stitches. ARROW-4: Increase 0-4-8-4-0-4-0 stitches evenly spaced = 208-220-232-244-256-268-280 stitches. When A.1 is finished, continue with stockinette stitch and light beige. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Work until the yoke measures 13-14-15-16-17-18-19 cm = 5⅛"-5½"-6"-6¼"-6¾"-7"-7½" from the marker. Now work as follows: Knit 31-33-35-37-39-41-43 (half back piece), place the next 42-44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 8 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit 62-66-70-74-78-82-86 (front piece), place the next 42-44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 8 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit the last 31-33-35-37-39-41-43 stitches (half back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. The piece is now measured from here! BODY: = 140-148-156-164-172-180-188 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8 stitches cast on under each sleeve. Cut the strand and start the next round at 1 marker (or work to the marker). Continue with stockinette stitch in the round, with color light beige, for a further 15-18-21-24-25-26-27 cm = 6"-7"-8¼"-9½"-9¾"-10¼"-10⅝". Change to circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5. Knit 1 round and increase 12-14-14-16-16-18-20 stitches evenly spaced = 152-162-170-180-188-198-208 stitches. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm = 1½". Bind off a little loosely. The sweater measures approx. 36-40-44-48-50-52-54 cm = 14¼"-15¾"-17¼"-19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼" from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 42-44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the new stitches cast on under the sleeve, with color light beige = 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve and allow it to follow your work onwards. Start at the marker-thread and continue working stockinette stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 2-3-4-4-4-4-4 cm = ¾"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-1½", decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 4-4½-6-7-8-8½-9 cm = 1½"-1⅝"-2⅜"-2¾"-3⅛"-3¼"-3½" a total of 4 times = 42-44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 18-22-26-30-34-38-41 cm = 7"-8¾"-10¼"-11¾"-13⅜"-15"-16⅛" from the division (or to desired length. There is approx. 4 cm = 1½" left). Change to double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5. Knit 1 round and increase 4-4-4-4-6-6-6 stitches evenly spaced = 46-48-50-52-56-58-60 stitches. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 4 cm = 1½". Bind off a little loosely. The sleeve measures approx. 22-26-30-34-38-42-45 cm = 8¾"-10¼"-11¾"-13⅜"-15"-16½"-17¾" from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
