Hei.

04.10.2023 - 19:45DROPS Design answered:
Hei Zanna.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 74 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 25) = 3. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after each 3rd stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The pattern is worked in stockinette stitch. KNITTING TIP: To avoid the knitting gauge losing its elasticity when working pattern it is important that the strands at the back are not tight. Use a size larger needle when working pattern if the piece becomes tight. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on either side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. BINDING-OFF TIP: To avoid the bind-off edge being tight you can bind off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as binding off; the yarn overs are bind off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked with double pointed needles, top down. NECK: Cast on 72-72-76-76-80-80 stitches with circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 and brown DROPS Merino Extra Fine. Knit 1 round, then work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Knit 1 round where you increase 24-28-28-32-32-36 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 96-100-104-108-112-116 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round; the yoke is measured from this marker! YOKE: Read KNITTING TIP and work A.1 (= 24-25-26-27-28-29 repeats of 4 stitches).. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! AT THE SAME TIME on each round marked with an arrow in A.1, increase stitches as described below – remember INCREASE TIP: Arrow-1: Increase 30-32-34-36-38-40 stitches evenly spaced = 126-132-138-144-150-156 stitches (there is now room for 21-22-23-24-25-26 repeats of A.1 with 6 stitches). Arrow-2: Increase 42-36-46-40-50-44 stitches evenly spaced = 168-168-184-184-200-200 stitches (there is now room for 21-21-23-23-25-25 repeats of A.1 with 8 stitches). Arrow-3: Increase 28-36-32-36-32-40 stitches evenly spaced = 196-204-216-220-232-240 stitches (there is now room for 49-51-54-55-58-60 repeats of A.1 with 4 stitches). Arrow-4: Increase 16-20-20-20-20-24 stitches evenly spaced = 212-224-236-240-252-264 stitches (there is now room for 53-56-59-60-63-66 repeats of A.1 with 4 stitches). Complete A.1, then work with light greyish green until the piece measures 16-16-16-17-18-19 cm = 6¼"-6¼"-6¼"-6¾"-7"-7½" from the marker. Now divide for the body and sleeves on the next round as follows: Work 31-33-35-36-38-40 stitches (= half back piece), place the next 44-46-48-48-50-52 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches (= in side under sleeve), work 62-66-70-72-76-80 stitches (= front piece), place the next 44-46-48-48-50-52 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches (= in side under sleeve), work the remaining 31-33-35-36-38-40 stitches (= half back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 136-144-152-160-168-176 stitches. Continue in the round with stockinette stitch and light greyish green for 15-19-23-25-26-27 cm = 6"-7½"-9"-9¾"-10¼"-10⅝". Knit 1 round where you increase 36-36-36-40-40-40 stitches evenly spaced = 172-180-188-200-208-216 stitches. This is done to avoid the following rib being tight. Change to circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 and work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 3-3-3-4-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-1½". Work 1 round of rib with brown. Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl – read BINDING-OFF TIP! The sweater measures approx. 36-40-44-48-50-52 cm = 14¼"-15¾"-17¼"-19"-19¾"-20½" from the shoulder down. SLEEVES: Place the 44-46-48-48-50-52 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 50-52-54-56-58-60 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve. Allow the thread to follow your work onwards; it will be used when decreasing under the sleeve. Continue in the round with stockinette stitch and light greyish green for 3 cm = 1⅛". Now decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 2-2½-3-3½-4½-4½ cm = ¾"-1"-1⅛"-1¼"-1⅝"-1⅝" a total of 6-7-7-7-7-8 times = 38-38-40-42-44-44 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 14-20-24-27-31-35 cm = 5½"-8"-9½"-10⅝"-12¼"-13¾" from the division. Knit 1 round where you increase 6-6-8-6-8-8 stitches evenly spaced = 44-44-48-48-52-52 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 and work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 3-3-3-4-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-1½". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember BINDING-OFF TIP! The sleeve measures approx. 17-23-27-31-35-39 cm = 6¾"-9"-10⅝"-12¼"-13¾"-15¼" from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
