What does "increase every 4th row mean?" Do I increase on a row and then increase on the fourth row AFTER that first row? i.e. knit row with increase, knit three rows, and then increase on the next row? Thanks for your help!
04.01.2023 - 04:40DROPS Design answered:
Hi Kathie, This means you work 3 rows after each increase, then increase on the next row, as you say. Happy knitting!

Hej, beim Rock klappt sich bei mir die Kante immer nach oben. Was kann ich dagegen tun? Liebe grüße!
27.10.2019 - 18:15DROPS Design answered:

CARDIGAN Gauge: 20 sts x 26 rows on larger needles in pattern = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Pattern: See chart. (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette stitch. Border: Knit 3 cm [1.25"] stockinette stitch, purl 1 row (for the folding edge - measure the work from here), 3 cm [1.25"] stockinette stitch. Long model: If a long model is desired increase the measurements at armhole, neck and binding off by 18 (20-20) cm [7" (7-⅞" - 7-⅞")]. Finished dimensions = 70 (74-77) cm [27-⅝" (29-⅛" - 30.25")]. Pick up approx. 40-42 more sts on the buttonband and knit 1-2 extra buttonholes. Increase the yarn amount by 100 g of each color. Body: Knit the cardigan in the round after the Border and cut steeks for armholes and at the center front. Cast on 219 (243-267) sts (including 1 edge st at each side at the center front) on smaller circular needles with black and knit Border back and forth on the needles. Change to larger circular needles and increase 3 sts at the center front - these sts + edge sts = 5 sts are for the steek and are not knit into the pattern. Join and knit Pattern 1 once After Pattern 1 knit Pattern 2. At the same time, when the work measures 25 (27-29) cm [9-⅞" (10-⅝" - 11-⅜")], inc 5 sts at each side for armholes (these sts are for the steeks and are not knit into the pattern) - 109 (121-133) sts = back and 108 (120-132) sts + 5 steek sts = front. When the work measures 45 (47-50) cm [17.75" (18.5" - 19.75")], bind off the center front 18 (20-20) sts + 5 steek sts for the neck. Bind off at each neck edge every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 3 times. At the same time, when the work measures 50 (52-55) cm [19.75" (20.5" - 21-⅝")], knit Pattern 1 and at the same time bind off the center back 35 (37-37) sts for the neck. Bind off 2 sts at each back neck edge on the next row. Bind off after Pattern 1; the work measures approx. 52 (54-57) cm [20.5" (21.25" - 22.5")]. Sleeves: Cast on 52 (52-54) sts on smaller double pointed needles with black. Knit Border. Change to larger double pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit Pattern 1 once then repeat Pattern 2 to finished dimensions. After the Border, inc 1 st each side of marker 28 (28-29) times: Size S/M: every 4th row Sizes M/L + XL: alternately every 3rd and every 4th row = 108 (108-112) sts. When the work measures approx. 49 (47-45) cm [19.25" (18.5" - 17.75")], knit 2 cm [0.75"] reverse stockinette stitch for a seam allowance over the cut edge on the body, bind off. Assembly: Sew a marker thread down into the center of the steek sts each side and at the center front. Sew two machine seams around the marker threads, 1st seam = 1/2 st from the thread, 2nd seam = 1/2 st from the 1st seam. Cut up for armholes and at the center front. Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 100-110 sts along the left front on smaller needles with black and knit Border. Repeat along the right front, but after 1 cm [3/8"] make 5 buttonholes evenly distributed on the row (1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts on the next row). Make corresponding buttonholes on the facing. Pick up approx. 110-115 sts around the neck on smaller needles with black and knit 2.5 cm [1"] stockinette stitch, change to natural and knit 2 rows stockinette stitch and knit the next row as follows: * K 2 tog, yarn over * (= folding edge). Change back to black and knit 2.5 cm [1"] stockinette stitch, bind off. Fold over against the wrong side and sew. Sew the sleeves to the body from the right side as follows: Sew alternately a stitch in the last row of knitting on the sleeve before the seam allowance and a stitch on the body after the machine seam. Turn the sweater inside out and sew the seam allowance from the sleeve over the cut edge on the body by hand. Sew on the buttons.
