Hem - folded

Keywords: kant,

Used on many of our designs is this very neat folded hem/edge.
This is the basic one, where we purl 1 row seen from RS, and this row is where we do the fold and from where all length measures in pattern are measured.
So knit a couple of cm/ an inch in stockinette st then P 1 right side row, then continue in stockinette or what patterns tells. Afterward fold the bottom edge to inside and sew with neat sts.

The video above can be used in the following patterns

I requested help with armhole shaping for pattern Drops Extra 0-229 on Page 39. What is meant by 4 stitches one time , 3 stitches 1 time , 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 4 times. You came back with the answer 5 stitches in 1st row 3rd Row dec 2 sts. 5th ,7th & 9th row Dec 1 sts. This doesn't make sense to be at all. Surely one decreases at each end of the row evenly for the armholes on back and front and for the sleeves.

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Libby (sorry for the typo of a lower case caracter in our previous answer). No, the armhole shapeing is not even, as it should form a kind of an arched line, not a straight one. Happy Crafting!

Dear libby, it means, to shape the armhole you decrease 5stitch in the 1st row, , in the 3d row, decrease 2 stitches, in the 5th, 7th and 9th row decrease 1 stitch. Happy Knitting!

Hi there! I was wondering how one would go about making a turning row in rib? Would it still be a row of purl?

14.02.2020 - 00:34

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Mrs Arthur, depending on your pattern you can work this row purl or in rib but with a larger needle (then change back to the smaller needles to work the 2nd part of hem). Please feel free to contact your DROPS store for any further advices and tipps. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!
