How to knit the basket weave stitch

In this DROPS video we show how to knit the basket weave stitch.

Nice dense texture, perfect use for baskets and interior items like pillows, place mats and Ipad covers, but also for windproof hats and mittens.

Knit back and forth on needle. Cast on an uneven number of stitches. Purl a row on WS.
Row 1 (RS): K1, *K into back loop of 2nd st on left needle, then K into 1st st on left needle, then drop these 2 sts from left needle, repeat from * across until 2 sts rem on row, K2.
Row 2 (WS): K1, *P into front loop of 2nd st on left needle, then P into 1st st on left needle, then drop these 2 sts from from left needle, repeat from * across until 2 sts rem on row, P1, K1.

Repeat row 1-2.

Besten Dank für die schöne Erklärung! Unklar ist mir allerdings, wie ich das fertige Stück abketten sollte, damit es nett aussieht. Ich habe ein Stirnband gestrickt und würde am liebsten die Anschlags- mit der Endreihe gleichzeitig verbinden. Für einen kurzen Tipp bin ich dankbar!

Liebe Maria, Sie können die Maschen auf der Nadel zu der Anschlagskante zusammennähen - entweder ohne diese Maschen abzuketten (siehe Video oder nach Abketten (siehe Video). Viel Spaß beim fertigstellen!

Hallo, ich stricke dieses Muster, aber bei dieser Anleitung verstehe ich etwas nicht. Wenn ich bei der rechten Reihe mit 1 re beginne, dann wiederholt Muster stricke und mit 2 re Maschen die Reihe beende, wie kann ich dann bei der links Reihe am Ende nur eine Masche übrig haben? Can you show the basket weave using the traditional knitting style. When I follow the pattern,but knit traditional style it leaves big gaps between the stitches. I enter the second stitch TBL then come to the front and enter the first stitch, but every time after completing a couple of rows ther are gaps. Obviously not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Dear Mrs Zion, if you mean with "traditional knitting style" working with thread in the right hand, you will work the same way: K 2nd st into back of loop (insert needle into back loop of 2nd st on left needle leaving 1st st on needle), then K 1st st on needle - make sure to get an even tension, this may be the reason why you get gaps.
