Hello. I have completed the leaf pattern and am ready to start m2. I decreased to the 343sts in the garter ridge and trying to work the section with the yos that create the circle. A total of 4 sts are given to edge sts, this takes the row count for the chart to 339. The chart is 8 sts per repeat. 339 is not divisible by 8. There are 3 sts remaining. What am I missing? Thank you in advance for your help.
26.09.2015 - 03:50DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sharon, repeat M.2 on the sts inside edge sts, and work the remaining sts (3) following M.2 = the last 3 sts from RS are worked as the first 3 sts in M.2. Happy knitting!

I just noticed that BabyDrops Pattern 18-12 has a similar M1 pattern, however, it's presented very differently (e.g., P2 tog goes across two boxes in the set of 17 stitches. It seems like this pattern diagram should be similar to the one in Patter 18-12? Thank you!
07.05.2015 - 00:56DROPS Design answered:
Dear Kathleen, you are correct, that's the same kind of pattern, remember to check your number of sts in each repetition (= 17 sts) with the help of markers eg. Happy knitting!

I'm having trouble with the M1 pattern and the bonnet. When I get to the 5th row (then 9th and 13th) written out, I am doing the following: knit 2 tog, knit 2 tog, knit 2 tog, YO, Knit, YO, Knit, YO, Knit, YO, Knit, YO, Knit, YO,knit 2 tog, knit 2 tog, knit 2 tog By the time I'm at row 13 of the pattern, I'm down to 86 stitches (and I should still have 104). This is lovely - please help!
06.05.2015 - 19:49DROPS Design answered:
Dear Kathleen, in the wave pattern in M.1 your number of sts should be constant: dec are compensated by yos: (P2 tog) x 3 times, then (YO, K1) 5 times, YO, (P2 tog) x 3 times. See eyelot row in the video below. Happy knitting!

I am a bit confused about the needle size - 2.5mm seems very fine, and the wool recommended for the pattern is 4ply, suggesting 3.5mm needles. How does this work?
05.05.2015 - 01:54DROPS Design answered:
Dear Karlie, this pattern is worked on the basis of 25 sts x 34 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm, knit a swatch and adjust your needle size if required to get this tension - you may need smaller/larger needle depening on how tight/loose you are working. Happy knitting!

Knitting gauge: 25 sts x 34 rows on needles size 2.5 mm / US 1 in stockinette sts = 10 x 10 cm / 4" x 4". Note! Working in pattern will make more rows per 10 cm / 4". Garter sts (back and forth on needle): Knit all rows. Pin tuck: P 1 row from the RS and then 4 rows stockinette sts. Knit next row as follows from the WS: *Pick up the upper part of st under the purled row, put loop on right needle, P1, lift the loop over P st to close the loop*, repeat from *-*. BONNET: To fit head circumference: approx 40/42 – 44/46 cm / 15¾"/16½" - 17¼"/18" Cast on 87-104 sts (incl 1 edge st each side, knitted in garter sts throughout) on pointed needles size 2.5 mm / US 1. Knit M.1 until piece measures 10-12 cm / 4"-4¾". Now knit a pin tuck – see explanation above – at the same for size 6/9 months dec 1 st on first row in pin tuck = 87 -103 sts. Now bind off 28-36 sts each side = 31 sts left (= middle piece on back). Measure piece from this point onwards! Continue as follows: 1 edge st, M.7A (= 9 sts), M.7B (= 8 sts), M.7C (=12 sts) and 1 edge st. Bind off when the middle piece measures 11-14 cm / 4⅜"-5½". Sew to side pieces. Pick up approx 86 to 98 sts (divisible by 4+2 to get an even number of holes for the silk ribbon) along the front edge on needle size 2.5 mm / US 1 and knit M.6 with 1 edge st each side. Bind off in P sts (seen from the RS). Cut a silk ribbon measuring approx 80 cm / 31½" and pull through row of holes. |
