Decrease - SKP

Sometimes you want to make a piece smaller and this is made by knitting stitches together – it’s called to decrease (dec).
Most commonly the decreases are made on rows from right side (RS), but sometimes it’s also necessary to decrease on wrong side rows, e.g. when you are to decrease on every row.
In this video we decrease 1 stitch from RS: slip on stitch over on right needle, knit 1 stitch, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch.

The video above can be used in the following patterns

I would like to ask you to please recommend a quality yarn that will last, and have good stitch definition ? Please. Specify wool, cotton, or blend details including brand, weight, number of skeins. Are 100% cotton, or Merino wool with a small percentage of silk a for good option for stitch, definition , drape, and long-term wearability? Is knitting with Two strands better for stitch definition ? I would like your recommendations please be specific. searching for a raisedtrailing by leaves
