Hi, just clarifying. In the body part of the pattern it states once at 222 stitches. Work stocking stitch in the round for 21 cm. Work 1 round where you increase 12 stitches evenly spaced = 234 stitches. Do I increase the stitches evenly after I work stocking stitch for 21 cm?Just before changing the needles to size 3.5mm? I appreciate your help.

Hi Nancy, you are supposed to increase 12 sts evenly after you work stocking stitch for 21 cm and just before changing the needles to size 3.5mm. Remember that at this point you can adjust the length of your sweater, so before increasing you can knit more/less cm than 21 cm. Happy knitting!

In the body. Do I increase 12 st at the beginning or the end?
27.12.2025 - 21:33DROPS Design answered:
Hi Nancy, neither at the beginning, not at the end. You have to increase them evenly - how to do it you will find HERE. Happy knitting!

Dag Miranda,

Size Medium says cast on 132 stitches; then you increase by 4 stitches = 136 stitches. But when you insert markers at intervals of 20, 26, 40, 26, 20 stitches it adds up to 132. Is this incorrect?
21.04.2025 - 12:51DROPS Design answered:
Hi Suzanne, You insert the markers into the next stitch after each stitch-count (stitches 21, 48, 89 and 116), with 20 stitches left on the row after the last marker = 136 stitches. Regards, Drops Team.

Bon tricot!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase to raglan every 2nd round as follows: Increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker-stitch by making 1 yarn over (= 8 stitches increased on the round). On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on either side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- TOP – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE The yoke and body are worked in the round, with circular needle, top down. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle, top down. YOKE: Cast on 126-132-135-138-147-150 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and DROPS Muskat. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 2) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Change to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6. Knit 1 round where you increase 4-4-1-4-5-2 stitches evenly spaced = 130-136-136-142-152-152 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread at the beginning of the round (mid-back) – the yoke is measured from this marker thread! Insert 4 markers without working the stitches as follows: Count 18-20-20-21-24-24 stitches, insert 1 marker in the next stitch, count 26 stitches, insert 1 marker thread in the next stitch, count 37-40-40-43-48-48 stitches, insert 1 marker thread in the next stitch, count 26 stitches, insert 1 marker thread in the next stitch, there are 19-20-20-22-24-24 stitches left after the last marker. Work stockinette stitch and increase to RAGLAN – read description above, every 2nd round 20-23-26-29-32-35 times = 290-320-344-374-408-432 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Continue working until the yoke measures 16-18-19-21-23-25 cm = 6¼"-7"-7½"-8¼"-9"-9¾". The next round is worked as follows: Work the first 39-43-47-51-59-64 stitches (half back piece), place the next 66-74-78-84-86-88 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches, work 79-86-94-103-118-128 stitches (front piece), place the next 66-74-78-84-86-88 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches, work the last 40-43-47-52-59-64 stitches (half back piece) = 170-184-200-222-252-272 stitches. The body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 170-184-200-222-252-272 stitches. Work stockinette stitch in the round for 20-20-21-21-21-21 cm = 8"-8"-8¼"-8¼"-8¼"-8¼". Work 1 round where you increase 7-11-10-12-12-13 stitches evenly spaced = 177-195-210-234-264-285 stitches. Change to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4. Work rib (knit 1, purl 2) for 4 cm = 1½". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. The top measures 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm = 18"-19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22" from the shoulder down. SLEEVES: Place the 66-74-78-84-86-88 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 72-80-84-92-94-96 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches under the sleeve. Work stockinette stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 3-3-2-2-2-1 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-¾"-¾"-¾"-⅜" from the division decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 1½-1-1½-1-1-1½ cm = ½"-⅜"-½"-⅜"-⅜"-½" a total of 6-8-6-7-5-3 times = 60-64-72-78-84-90 stitches. Work until the sleeve measures 13-12-11-10-8-6 cm = 5⅛"-4¾"-4⅜"-4"-3⅛"-2⅜". Knit 1 round where you decrease 0-1-0-0-0-0 stitches = 60-63-72-78-84-90 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4 and work rib (knit 1, purl 2) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
