Dag Veerle,

Hi Drops am stuck her. THE SAME TIME after 5 cm / 2'' in seed st on next row from RS bind off middle 2 sts for neck and complete each shoulder separately. Now bind off by knitting first 2 sts towards neck tog. Please explain this to so I understand and can proceed. Am now ripping back. Not enough sts to decrease for armhole an neck. Hope for a quick response so I complete as this is a birthday gift. Thank you.
02.01.2024 - 21:38DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Hunt-Edwards, you will cast off the 2 middle stitches (divide the number of stitches in 2 minus 2 sts and from RSwork this number of stitches for left shoulder, cast off the next 2 sts and work the same number of stitches for right shoulder) now finish each shoulder separately starting with right shoulder. Decrease now at the beg of every row starting from neck by working the first 2 sts together (at the beg of row from RS for right shoulder then at the beg of row from WS for left shoulder). Happy knitting!

Hi Drops😂🤣 not sure why am not understanding armhole shaping. Anyways am doing the body. working on back and have decreased 3 sts on the knit side and 3 purl side. Instruks says dec 2 sts 6t. If i dec 2sts 1,2,3,4.5,6t on right side then on wrong side that is 12 sts if i dec 2 sts 2,4,6 then 5 sts 5t i don’t end up with 84 sts per pattern and i cannot figure out what am doing wrong. Hoping for a quick reply as this is a birthday gift and i need to complete this asap. S

Dear Sharon, there must be some misunderstanding: you not dec 6 times, but dec 1 st on each side of marker every 3 a total of 15 times = 90 sts for size XXL. After that (piece measures 56 cm) you work the sleeve cap (work in double moss st): 3 sts on each side of marker 1 time and now in rows: at the beg. of each row (ie both sides of piece) 2 sts 4 times, 1 st 5 times. After that 2 sts on each side till 66 cms, 3 sts 1 time on each side and cast off. Happy knitting!

Hi! Working on the body. Pattern says to decrease 78 sts. Knitting XXL. It then says to decrease place marked to distinguish the sides. Here increase 2 sts both sides on markers after 15 cm then after 25 cm. Seem to me the numbers don’t add up if am supposed to have to have 248 sts after increases. Am I missing something? Thanks for your help.
27.12.2023 - 02:12DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sharon, after the decrease, simply place 2 markers to distinguish the sides. Then increase 1 st on each side of each marker when the piece measures 15 cm and 25 cm. So, from 240 sts, you have 4 increases at 15 cm and 4 increases at 25cm = 248 stitches. Happy knitting!

Continue back and forth on circular needle and continue to bind off for sleeve cap at beg of each row each side as follows: 2 sts 3-3-4-4-4-3 times and then 1 st 3-4-4-5-8-13 times. Making large. Is it 2 stitches on each side or 4 stiches each side? Is there a problem with the double seed stitch pattern comes out like a messed up 2x2 rib when i follow the pattern.😢 ripped out too many times already
23.12.2023 - 22:11DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sharon, cast off 2 sts at the beginning of 4 rows from the right side and 4 rows from the wrong side (4 times on each side). Now repeat but casting off 1 stitch instead of 2, (so 1 st at the beginning of 4 rows from the right side and 4 rows from the wrong side). Finally, continue casting off 2 sts at the beginning of the rows from each side until the piece measures 65 cm. Happy knitting!

Hi There, For the neckband the instructions in one part say 1 garter st, *K1, P2*, repeat *-* until 2 sts remain, ending with K1 and 1 garter st. I thought a garter stitch was a knit stitch, so why is it worded differently at the beginning and end of these instructions? Much appreciated...Kim
07.07.2023 - 13:56DROPS Design answered:
Dear Kim, a garter stitch is worked in a specific way: when work back and forth you always knit the stitch in garter stitch; when working in the round you will knit it on one round and purl it in the next one. So, we call it a stitch in garter stitch so that we know how it's worked, regardless of the rest of the stitches of the row/ round and the side you are working on. Happy knitting!

Row 4 (= from WS): P over P and K over K. -------------------------------------------------------- BODY: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 213-234-255-288-318-351 sts on circular needle 3.5 mm with Lima. Work rib K1 /P2. When piece measures 4 cm / 1½" work 1 round stockinette st, AT THE SAME TIME dec 53-58-63-72-78-87 sts evenly (dec by K tog approx every 3rd and 4th st) = 160-176-192-216-240-264 sts. Insert two markers in piece, at the beg of round and after 80-88-96-108-120-132 sts (to mark the sides). Change to circular needle 4 mm. Continue in the round in stockinette st. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When piece measures 15 cm / 6" inc 1 st on each side of both markers with YO. On next row knit yo twisted (i.e. knit in the back of the loop instead of in the front, to avoid a hole). Repeat the inc when piece measures 25 cm / 9¾" = 168-184-200-224-248-272 sts. When piece measures 47-48-49-50-51-52 cm / 18½"-19"-19¼"-19¾"-20"-20½" work DOUBLE SEED ST - see explanation above - AT THE SAME TIME bind off 6 sts at each side for armholes (i.e. Bind off 3 sts each side of each marker). Now complete each piece separately. BACK PIECE: = 78-86-94-106-118-130 sts (1st row = WS). Continue in double seed st AT THE SAME TIME bind off for armhole at beg of each row each side as follows: 2 sts 0-1-2-4-6-8 times and 1 st 1-2-3-4-5-6 times = 76-78-80-82-84-86 sts. When piece measures 64-66-68-70-72-74 cm / 25¼"-26"-26¾"-27½"-28⅜"-29⅛" bind off center 24-26-28-30-32-34 sts for neck and work each shoulder separately. Dec 1 st from neck on next row (i.e K2 tog) = 25 sts left on shoulder in all sizes. Bind off when piece measures 66-68-70-72-74-76 cm / 26"-26¾"-27½"-28⅜"-29⅛"-30". FRONT PIECE: = 78-86-94-106-118-130 sts (1st row = WS). Continue in double seed st and bind off for armholes as described on back piece, AT THE SAME TIME after 5 cm / 2" in seed st on next row from RS bind off middle 2 sts for neck and complete each shoulder separately. Now bind off by knitting first 2 sts towards neck tog (work them to fit seed st pattern) at beg on every row from the neck a total of 12-13-14-15-16-17 times. When all dec are complete there are 25 sts left on shoulder in all sizes. Bind off when piece measures 66-68-70-72-74-76 cm / 26"-26¾"-27½"-28⅜"-29⅛"-30". SLEEVE: Work in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 63-66-69-72-75-78 sts on double pointed needles 3.5 mm with Lima. Work rib K1/P2. When piece measures 4 cm / 1½" K 1 round AT THE SAME TIME dec 15-16-17-18-19-20 sts evenly (dec by K tog approx every 3rd and 4th sts) = 48-50-52-54-56-58 sts. Change to double pointed needles 4 mm. Insert a marker at beg of round. Continue in stockinette st. When piece measures 8 cm / 3⅛" inc 1 st on each side of marker. Repeat inc on every 5-4½-3½-3-2½-2½ cm / 2"-1¾"-1¼"-1⅛"-⅞"-⅞" a total of 10-11-13-15-17-18 times = 68-72-78-84-90-94 sts. When piece measures 57-57-56-56-54-53 cm / 22½"-22½"-22"-22"-21¼"-21" (less for the larger sizes because of longer sleeve cap and wider shoulder) continue in double seed st over all sts AT THE SAME TIME bind off 6 sts mid under sleeve (bind off 3 sts on each side of marker). Continue back and forth on circular needle and continue to bind off for sleeve cap at beg of each row each side as follows: 2 sts 3-3-4-4-4-3 times and then 1 st 3-4-4-5-8-13 times. Then bind off 2 sts each side until piece measures 64-65-65-66-66-67 cm / 25¼"-25½"-25½"-26"-26"-26⅜". Now bind off 3 sts 1 time each side. Bind off. Piece measures 65-66-66-67-67-68 cm / 25½"-26"-26"-26⅜"-26⅜"-26¾". ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams. Set in sleeves. NECKBAND: Work back and forth on circular needle from mid front in neck opening. Pick up 92-98-104-110-118-124 sts around neckline on circular needle 3.5 mm starting from mid front. K 1 row on WS and AT THE SAME TIME inc 37-37-40-43-47-50 sts evenly (inc with 1 YO between approx every 3rd and 4th st and a few more times). On next row from RS work yo twisted at the same time work rib as follows: 1 garter st, * K1, P2 *, repeat *-* until 2 sts remain, ending with K1 and 1 garter st. Continue like this and bind off loosely with K over K and P over P when rib measures 3.5 cm / 1¼". Place right piece of neckband over left and fasten both edges with a couple of small stitches to the edge. |
