Merci. Bon tricot!

I would like to make the gloves (XS/S), but cannot understand how the ‘points’ at bottom of wrist are created. If I start by casting on 80 sts and just work in the round from bottom up of M6 pattern, there are no points, just straight width around bottom.
05.11.2024 - 15:44DROPS Design answered:
Dear Karen, you first knit 1 round, purl 1 round, then work diagram M.6 (= 16 sts a total of 5 times in the round = 80 sts); at the same time work the stripes as shown in diagram M.4. You will decrease in M.6 just as shown in the diagram so that there are 10 sts when diagram is done (10x5 times= 50 sts). Now work M.7 and continue with M.8 after 11 cm. When working the yarn overs and decreases in M.6 (M.7) you will get the points - do not hesitate to test on a swatch to get it right. Happy knitting!

Is this a free pattern or not? It seems like teaser for a movie: some information but most of the plot left out. If the pattern is available for free where is the rest of it?
12.04.2016 - 04:44DROPS Design answered:
Dear Corina, you will find on this page the free pattern for hat, scarf and gloves. Diagrams M.1 to M.9 are at the very bottom of the pattern (read more here about diagrams) and you will find related videos to that pattern under thumb "videos". Happy knitting!

DROPS 7 mm [US K] crochet hook, or size needed to obtain correct gauge. Gauge: 28 sts x 30 rows in Pattern = 10x10 cm Pattern: See the charts for Model No. 12 on page 21 of Drops No. 93. The pattern is seen from the right side. Hat: Loosely cast on 140 sts on double-pointed needles with dark brown Alpaca; join and place a marker at the join. K 1 row, P 1 row, then knit Pattern 1, following stripes in Pattern 4. When Pattern 1 is complete (20 rows), continue with natural white and Pattern 2 until the piece measures approx. 12 cm from bottom points. Then knit Pattern 3, decreasing as shown in chart. After Pattern 3, 40 sts remain on needles, cut yarn, pull through the remaining sts and fasten neatly. Hat measures approx. 22 cm from bottom points. Crocheted blossoms: Ch 4 with light pink Snow and join into a ring with 1 sl st. Next row: * ch 6, 1 sc in ring *, repeat * - * a total of 5 times, cut yarn and fasten. Sew a small safety pin on back side of blossom. Crochet a second blossom in dark purple and fasten blossoms on hat. Scarf: Loosely cast on 87 sts on straight needles with dark brown Alpaca. K 2 rows garter st (row 1 = right side) and the next row as follows from right side: K 3 (edge sts knit in garter st), Pattern 5 over the following 80 sts, then knit the 1st st at start of Pattern 5 (so that the pattern starts and ends identically at each side) and finish with K 3 (edge sts knit in garter st). Continue the pattern as established in stripes following Pattern 4 – row 1 of Pattern 4 has already been knit. When Pattern 5 is complete there are 63 sts. Continue with natural white and Pattern 2, keeping 3 edge sts in garter st at each side. Make the pattern start and end identically at each side as before. When the piece measures approx. 80 cm knit Pattern 5 again, in stripes following Pattern 4, but start at the top of both charts so that the ends of the scarf will be the same. You will be increasing sts in Pattern 5 by knitting 2 sts in 1 st instead of decreasing. When Pattern 5 and Pattern 4 are complete there are 87 sts. K 1 row (from wrong side), then knit the 1st row of Pattern 5 at the same time as you bind off so that the bound-off edge «waves» in the pattern. When the piece measures (11) 12 cm – see Measuring tips – knit Pattern 8, decreasing 2 sts evenly distributed on last row of Pattern 8 for size M/L (do not dec for size XS/S) = (50) 58 sts. After Pattern 8 knit the next row as follows: (25) 29 sts stockinette st (= palm), place a marker (= side), (3) 5 sts stockinette st, Pattern 9 (= 19 sts/back of hand), (3) 5 sts stockinette st, place a marker (= side). Join and divide sts on 3 double-pointed needles and knit stockinette st until finger measures approx. (6.5) 8 cm. K 2 tog across row, cut yarn and pull through remaining sts. Middle finger: Put (6) 7 sts from each st holder back on needles, pick up (3) 4 sts toward ring finger and cast on 3 new sts toward index finger = (18) 21 sts. Join and divide sts on 3 double-pointed needles and knit stockinette st until finger measures approx. (7) 8.5 cm. K 2 tog across row, cut yarn and pull through remaining sts.Index finger: Put remaining (14) 16 sts on needles, pick up (3) 4 sts toward middle finger = (17) 20 sts. Join and divide sts on 3 double-pointed needles and knit stockinette st until finger measures approx. (5.5) 7 cm. K 2 tog across row, cut yarn and pull through remaining sts.Thumb: Put the (11) 13 sts on st holders onto needles and pick up (7) 8 sts in back of these sts = (18) 21 sts. Join and divide sts on 3 double-pointed needles and knit stockinette st for approx. (5) 6 cm, then K 2 tog around row, cut yarn and pull through the remaining sts.Left glove: Knit the same as the right but reverse shaping. After Pattern 8 knit the next row as follows: place a marker (= side), (3) 5 sts stockinette st, Pattern 9 (= 19 sts/back of hand), (3) 5 sts stockinette st, place a marker (= side), (25) 29 sts stockinette st (= palm) and inc for thumb at each side of next to last st on row. |
