Verwirrend!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the right): Slip the yarn-over purl-wise from the left to the right needle, replace it onto the left needle the other way round (insert the left needle through the back when replacing it). Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the front of the needle (avoids a hole). AFTER RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the left): Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the back of the needle (avoids a hole). SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. NECK: Cast on 88-88-96-96-104-104-112 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7 and 1 strand DROPS Air, or 1 strand DROPS Alpaca and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (2 strands). Change to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 (casting on with a larger needle size makes the cast-on edge elastic). Knit 3 rounds (= rolled edge). Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 3-3-3-3-3½-3½-3½ cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1¼"-1¼"-1¼". The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 31-31-33-33-35-35-37 stitches (approx. mid-front). The piece is measured from here. Change to circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7. Insert 4 markers as follows, while working the stitches and inserting the markers between 2 knitted stitches (the raglan-stitches). You increase for raglan on each side of these 2 stitches. Knit 1 before the beginning of the round so the round begins between 2 knitted stitches. Insert marker-1 before the next stitch (beginning of round), knit 16 (= sleeve), insert marker-2 before the next stitch, knit 28-28-32-32-36-36-40 and increase 0-2-0-2-0-2-2 stitches evenly over these stitches (= 28-30-32-34-36-38-42 front piece stitches), insert marker-3 before the next stitch, knit 16 (= sleeve), insert marker-4 before the next stitch, knit 28-28-32-32-36-36-40 and increase 0-2-0-2-0-2-2 stitches evenly over these stitches (= 28-30-32-34-36-38-42 back piece stitches) = 88-92-96-100-104-108-116 stitches. Now increase for RAGLAN – read explanation above, as follows: ROUND 1: Knit and increase for raglan on each side of all the raglan-stitches (8 increased stitches). NOTE: At the beginning of the round increase after the first stitch and at the end of the round increase before the last stitch (increase on each side of 2 knitted stitches from the rib). ROUND 2: Knit. Remember to work the yarn overs as explained under RAGLAN. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 9-9-10-12-13-12-12 times (18-18-20-24-26-24-24 rounds worked) = 160-164-176-196-208-204-212 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting gauge. Now increase as follows: ROUND 1: Knit and increase for raglan on each side of all raglan-stitches (8 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Knit. ROUND 3: Knit and increase for raglan on the front and back pieces, i.e., after markers 2 and 4 and before markers 3 and 1. You do not increase across the sleeves (4 increased stitches). ROUND 4: Knit. Work ROUNDS 1 to 4 a total of 8-9-9-9-9-11-12 times (32-36-36-36-36-44-48 rounds worked with 17-18-19-21-22-23-24 increases in height on the sleeves and 16-18-18-18-18-22-24 increases in height on the front and back pieces) = 256-272-284-304-316-336-356 stitches. All increases for raglan are finished: A total of 25-27-28-30-31-34-36 increases in height on the front and back pieces and 17-18-19-21-22-23-24 increases in height on the sleeves. Continue with stockinette stitch, without further increases, until the yoke measures 21-22-24-25-26-28-30 cm = 8¼"-8¾"-9½"-9¾"-10¼"-11"-11¾" from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Place the first 50-52-54-58-60-62-64 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-18-20-22 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 78-84-88-94-98-106-114 (= front piece), place the next 50-52-54-58-60-62-64 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-18-20-22 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 78-84-88-94-98-106-114 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 172-188-200-216-232-252-272 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-18-20-22 cast-on stitches under one sleeve. Knit to this marker. The round begins here. Continue with stockinette stitch in the round until the piece measures 44-46-48-50-51-53-55 cm = 17¼"-18"-19"-19¾"-20"-21"-21⅝" from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 20-20-24-24-24-28-32 stitches evenly on the first round = 192-208-224-240-256-280-304 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2", bind off with rib. The sweater measures approx. 48-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from the marker mid-front and 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼" from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 50-52-54-58-60-62-64 sleeve-stitches from one stitch holder onto circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-10-12-14-18-20-22 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 58-62-66-72-78-82-86 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-18-20-22 stitches under the sleeve. The round starts by the marker-thread. Work stockinette stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 1 cm = ⅜" from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 4-5-6-8-10-11-12 times every 10-8-6-4½-3-3-2½ cm = 4"-3⅛"-2⅜"-1⅝"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1" = 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 37-38-36-36-34-33-31 cm = 14½"-15"-14¼"-14¼"-13⅜"-13"-12¼" from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 6-4-6-4-6-4-6 stitches evenly on the first round = 56-56-60-60-64-64-68 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2", bind off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 41-42-40-40-39-38-36 cm = 16⅛"-16½"-15¾"-15¾"-15¼"-15"-14¼" from the division. |
