How to increase by working the 2 threads from 1 st separately

In some of our patterns we work with 2 strands of the yarn held together, and then we ask to increase by working the 2 strands from 1 stitch separately. I.e. 1 st with 2 strands becomes 2 sts of 1 strand each. In this DROPS video we show how to do so.
