How to work garter stitch / ridges with knitted and purled stitches (round) – UK / US knitting style

In this DROPS video, we show you how to work garter stitch in the round with a circular needle, using the UK/US knitting style. The structure is called garter stitch/ridges and is one of many variations of garter stitch. This technique is worked with knitted and purled stitches.

BEFORE STARTING THE VIDEO:
This variety of garter stitch is worked with 1 knitted round and 1 purled round. Keep a marker-thread in the transition between each round to avoid displacing the beginning/end of the round. We have already worked a few cm of garter stitch.

THE VIDEO SHOWS:
ROUND 1:
Knit the whole round, inserting a marker-thread at the beginning of the round.
ROUND 2:
Purl the whole round.

Repeat ROUNDS 1 and 2.
