I love your patterns as they are so easy. I have some left over wool from another company which is Double Knit. 22 stitches and 31 rows with 4 cms needles equals 10 cms. I would love to use it by knitting a simple sweater using one of your patterns. Can you suggest one? Failing that I am using your Fabel wool to knit the elcipse vest. Is it possible to knit sleeves onto it? If so, how?

Dear Oleva, DROPS Silke Tweed was yarn group A, just as Alpaca - use the yarn converter to find the best matching alternatives and maybe try another pattern same yarn group/tension; or try swatching if you get the correct width and like the matching texture, you might have to make some adjustments for the height. Happy knitting!

PULLOVER: Gauge: 21 sts x 27 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Pattern: See chart. The pattern is knit entirely in stockinette st. Increasing tips (for left front): All increases are made on right side rows. Inc 1 st by making a yo after the first 2 sts at the center front edge. Decreasing tips (for right front): All decs are made on right side rows. Dec inside of 5 sts at center front edge knit as follows: K 3 (edge sts knit in garter st), K 2 tog, yo. Dec 1 st after 5 edge sts as follows: Slip 1 st as if to knit, K 1, psso. Back: Cast on 89-100-112-123-133 sts on smaller needles with Alpaca and knit 4 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and stockinette st, following Pattern 1. After Pattern 1 knit with Silke-Tweed to finished measurements. When the piece measures 7 cm inc 1 st at each side every 4 rows a total of 9-9-8-8-8 times = 107-118-128-139-149 sts. When the piece measures 24-25-26-27-28 cm bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 3 sts 1-1-1-2-2 times, 2 sts 1-2-3-4-5 times and 1 st 2-4-5-4-5 times = 93-96-100-103-107 sts. When the piece measures 40-42-44-46-48 cm bind off the center 29-30-30-31-33 sts for the neck. Dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 2 times = 30-31-33-34-35 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 42-44-46-48-50 cm. NOTE: The photo in Drops No. 84 is reversed (mirror image) and so is the opposite of the instructions below for fronts. The diagram on page 23 of Drops No. 84 is correct for the instructions. If you wish to have the sweater appear as the photo, you must knit the left front as the right and vice versa. Left front: Read entire section before knitting: Cast on 38-42-47-52-56 sts on smaller needles with Alpaca and knit 4 rows garter st (row 1 = right side). Change to larger needles and stockinette st, following Pattern 1, and keeping the outermost st at the center front edge in garter st. After Pattern 1 knit with Silke-Tweed to finished measurements. After the garter st inc for sloping band at the end of the row at the center front edge – see increasing tips above. Inc 1 st every other row 53-56-58-61-64 times. Side inc: When the piece measures 7 cm inc at the side as on back. Armhole: When the piece measures 24-25-26-27-28 cm bind off for armhole as on back, and place a marker after binding off counted in from armhole (the marker = center front): Size S: in the 47th st Size M: between the 48th and 49th sts Size L: in the 50th st Size XL: in the 52nd st Size XXL: in the 54th st Neck: When the piece measures 34-36-38-39-41 cm bind off the center 19-20-19-21-23 sts for the neck (the markers mark the center front). Then bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 3 times. When the piece measures 40-42-44-46-48 cm (the incs for the sloping band should now be finished) 30-31-33-34-35 sts remain on each shoulder. Knit garter st over the sts on right shoulder (for left shoulder continue in stockinette st). Bind off both shoulders when the piece measures 42-44-46-48-50 cm. Right front: Read entire section before knitting: Cast on 58-65-71-78-84 sts on smaller needles with Alpaca and knit 4 rows garter st (row 1 = right side). Change to larger needles and stockinette st, following Pattern 1. After Pattern 1 continue with Silke-Tweed to finished measurements. On the 1st row after the garter st dec for sloping band at the start of the row at the center front edge – see decreasing tips above. Dec 1 st every other row 53-56-58-61-64 times. Side inc: When the piece measures 7 cm inc at the side as on left front. Armhole: When the piece measures 24-25-26-27-28 cm bind off for armhole at the side as on left front. When the piece measures 40-42-44-46-48 cm bind off the remaining 7 sts. Sleeve: Cast on 53-55-57-59-61 sts on smaller needles with Alpaca and knit 4 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and stockinette st, following Pattern 2. After Pattern 2 continue with Silke-Tweed to finished measurements. When the piece measures 13 cm inc 1 st at each side every 3.5-3-2.5-2-2 cm a total of 10-11-12-14-14 times = 73-77-81-87-89 sts. When sleeve measures 48-46-45-43-41 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-2-3-3-4 times and 1 st 1-1-2-3-5 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 52 cm, then bind off 3 sts at each side 1 time. Bind off the remaining sts, the piece measures approx. 53 cm. Assembly: Sew left shoulder. Neckband: Pick up approx. 92-104 sts around the neck on smaller needles with Silke-Tweed and knit 4 rows garter st (row 1 = wrong side), then bind off all sts. Sew right shoulder and up neckband. Lay the right front under the left so that the holes in the sloping band are on the outside. Sew the two fronts at top and along the sloping edge – sew from wrong side with small sts, being sure not to make too tight.
