Un gilet manches courtes est toujours utile pour les demi-saisons. La simplicité du modèle et les torsades sur le raglan m'ont tout de suite plu. J'espère qu'il fera parti de la sélection.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PIECE: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): 1 ridge = Knit 2 rows. RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. The diagrams show all the rows in the pattern seen from the right side INCREASE TIP-1 (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 102 stitches) minus the bands (= 92 stitches) and divide these stitches by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 12) = 7.66. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after alternately each 7th and 8th stitch (approx.). On the next round, knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. INCREASE TIP-2 (for sides of body): All increases are made from the right side! Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker, 1 yarn over, work 4 stitches in garter stitch (the marker sits in the middle of these 4 stitches), 1 yarn over. Increase like this at both marker threads (= a total of 4 stitches increased). On the next row knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in garter stitch. BUTTONHOLES: Work buttonholes on the right band (when the garment is worn). Work from the right side when there are 3 stitches left on the row as follows: Make 1 yarn over, purl the next 2 stitches together and purl the last stitch. On the next row purl the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked when the piece measures approx. 1½-2 cm. Then work the next 5-5-6-6-7-7 buttonholes with 8-8-7½-7½-7-7 cm between each one. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- VEST - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked top down. The yoke is worked back and forth and then divided for body and sleeves. The body is continued back and forth in garter stitch. The sleeve edges are worked in the round with double pointed needles. YOKE: Cast on 102-106-110-116-120-128 stitches (including 5 band stitches in each side of the piece) with circular needle size 3 mm / US 2.5 and Kid-Silk. Purl 5 band stitches, work GARTER STITCH - read description above, until there are 5 stitches left and finish with purl 5 band stitches. The bands are purled on all rows (i.e. reversed garter stitch) and the remaining stitches are knitted on all rows. Work a total of 2 ridges. Change to circular needle size 4 mm / US 6. Work BUTTONHOLE on the right band – read description above. Then work as follows from the right side: Purl 5 band stitches, knit and increase 12-8-8-14-10-10 stitches evenly over these stitches until there are 5 stitches left - read INCREASE TIP-1 above and finish with purl 5 band stitches = 114-114-118-130-130-138 stitches. Knit 1 row from the wrong side with purl 5 band stitches in each side. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: Purl 5 band stitches, 8-8-9-12-12-14 stitches in garter stitch, A.1 (= 16 stitches), 4 stitches in garter stitch, A.1 over the next 16 stitches, 16-16-18-24-24-28 stitches in garter stitch, A.1 over the next 16 stitches, 4 stitches in garter stitch, A.1 over the next 16 stitches, 8-8-9-12-12-14 stitches in garter stitch and finish with purl 5 band stitches. The bands are purled on all rows to finished length. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When A.1 has been worked 1 time in height there are 138-138-142-154-154-162 stitches on the needle. Now work A.2 (= 22 stitches) over A.1 AT THE SAME TIME as you increase to raglan on the first row in A.2 as follows: Increase with 1 yarn over on each side of each A.2 (= 8 stitches increased). The yarn overs are knitted twisted on the next row to avoid holes and then in garter stitch. Increase like this every 2nd row a total of 10-13-17-18-20-22 times, then every 4th row a total of 13-14-13-14-15-16 times (i.e. you have increased a total of 23-27-30-32-35-38 times) = 322-354-382-410-434-466 stitches. Continue with pattern and garter stitch until the piece measures 22-24-25-27-29-31 cm / 8⅝"-9⅜"-9 ¾"-10⅝"-11⅜"-12⅛" from the cast-on edge. On the next row from the right side decrease 3 stitches over each cable (i.e. 6 stitches in each A.2 = a total of 24 stitches decreased) = 298-330-358-386-410-442 stitches. Knit 1 row with purl 5 band stitches from the wrong side. Now divide the piece for body and sleeves as follows: Purl 5 band stitches, work 42-46-50-55-60-66 stitches in garter stitch, place the next 60-68-74-78-80-84 stitches on a thread for sleeve and cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches under the sleeve, work 84-92-100-110-120-132 stitches in garter stitch, place the next 60-68-74-78-80-84 stitches on a thread for sleeve and cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches under the sleeve, work 42-46-50-55-60-66 stitches in garter stitch and finish with purl 5 band stitches = 194-210-230-250-274-298 stitches. BODY: Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches under each sleeve (= 92-100-110-120-132-144 stitches on the back piece and 51-55-60-65-71-77 stitches on each front piece). Continue with garter stitch and purl over the bands as before. When the body measures 2 cm / ¾" from where it was divided from the sleeves, increase 1 stitch on each side of each marker - read INCREASE TIP-2 above. Increase like this every 2½ cm/7/8" a total of 10 times = 234-250-270-290-314-338 stitches. Continue with garter stitch until the body measures 31-31-32-32-32-32 cm / 12⅛"-12⅛"-12 ½"-12 ½"-12 ½"-12 ½" from where it was divided from the sleeves. Bind off. Make sure the bind-off edge is not tight. You can use a needle size larger if this is a problem. The piece measures 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm / 22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26" from the shoulder. SLEEVE EDGE: Place the 60-68-74-78-80-84 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles size 4 mm / US 6 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 68-76-84-88-92-96 stitches. Work GARTER STITCH in the round – read description above - for 2 cm / ¾". Bind off with 2 strands and with knit. Work the other sleeve edge in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew buttons onto the left band. |
