Buon lavoro!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCH: Slip the yarn over off the left needle and replace it the other way round (insert the left needle through the back when replacing it). Knit the front loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stockinette stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCH: Knit through the back loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stockinette stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK Cast on 88-96-96-104-104-112 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4, 1 strand DROPS Alpaca and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (2 strands). Knit 4 rounds (= rolled edge). The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 33-35-35-37-37-39 stitches (approx. mid-front), the piece is measured from here. YOKE: Insert 4 markers, without working the stitches, (inserting each marker in a stitch, which is called a raglan-stitch, and is worked in stockinette stitch) as follows: Insert marker-1 in the first stitch, count 20 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-2 in the next stitch, count 22-26-26-30-30-34 stitches (= front piece), Insert marker-3 in the next stitch, count 20 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-4 in the next stitch, there are 22-26-26-30-30-34 stitches left after marker-4 (= back piece). Change to circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7. Work stockinette stitch and increase for RAGLAN – read description above, as follows: ROUND 1: Work stockinette stitch and increase on each side of all 4 raglan-stitches (= 8 increased stitches). ROUND 2. Work stockinette stitch, remembering to work the yarn-overs as described under raglan. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 4-10-10-11-7-6 times (8-20-20-22-14-12 rounds worked) = 120-176-176-192-160-160 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting gauge. Now increase for raglan as follows: ROUND 1: Work stockinette stitch and increase on each side of all 4 raglan-stitches (= 8 increased stitches). ROUND 2. Work stockinette stitch. ROUND 3: Work stockinette stitch and increase only on the front and back pieces, i.e., after markers 2 and 4, and before markers 1 and 3 – do not increase on the sleeves (= 4 increased stitches). ROUND 4: Knit. Work ROUNDS 1 to 4 a total of 11-9-10-11-15-17 times (44-36-40-44-60-68 rounds worked, and you have increased 11-9-10-11-15-17 times on the sleeves and 22-18-20-22-30-34 times on the front and back pieces) = 252-284-296-324-340-364 stitches. All increases for raglan are finished. You have increased a total of 26-28-30-33-37-40 times on the front and back pieces and 15-19-20-22-22-23 times on the sleeves. Continue working without further increases, until the yoke measures 22-23-25-28-31-34 cm = 8¾"-9"-9¾"-11"-12¼"-13⅜" from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Keep the first stitch on the needle (belongs to the back piece), place the next 50-58-60-64-64-66 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 10-10-12-12-14-16 stitches (under the sleeve), knit 76-84-88-98-106-116 (= front piece), place the next 50-58-60-64-64-66 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 10-10-12-12-14-16 stitches (under the sleeve), knit the last 75-83-87-97-105-115 stitches (a total of 76-84-88-98-106-116 stitches on the back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 172-188-200-220-240-264 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch in the round until the piece measures 43-45-47-49-51-53 cm = 17"-17¾"-18½"-19¼"-20"-21" from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), increasing 18-18-20-22-24-26 stitches evenly on round 1 = 190-206-220-242-264-290 stitches. When the rib measures 2 cm = ¾", bind off. The sweater measures approx. 45-47-49-51-53-55 cm = 17¾"-18½"-19¼"-20"-21"-21⅝" from the marker and 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 50-58-60-64-64-66 sleeve-stitches from one thread on circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 10-10-12-12-14-16 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 60-68-72-76-78-82 stitches. Work stockinette stitch in the round for 15-13-12-9-8-7 cm = 6"-5⅛"-4¾"-3½"-3⅛"-2¾". Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), increasing 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches evenly on the first round = 66-74-78-84-86-90 stitches. When the rib measures 2 cm = ¾", bind off. The sleeve measures approx. 17-15-14-11-10-9 cm = 6¾"-6"-5½"-4⅜"-4"-3½" from the division. |
