------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch before/after 2 knitted stitches in each transition between body and sleeves (marker-threads sit between these 2 stitches). Increase by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE MARKER-THREAD: Slip the yarn over as if to knit and replace it on the left needle the other way round, knit the front loop (stitch twists to the right). No hole. AFTER MARKER-THREAD: Knit the back loop (stitch twists to the left). No hole. Work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves and the body continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle. NECK: Cast on 80-80-88-88-96-96 stitches with short circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and 1 strand of each color DROPS Flora or DROPS Alpaca. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 3 cm = 1⅛". The yoke is measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8. Insert 4 marker-threads for the raglan-lines, between 2 knitted stitches as follows: Knit the first 9-9-11-11-11-11 stitches (approx. half back piece), insert 1 marker-thread before the next stitch, knit 20-20-20-20-24-24 stitches (sleeve), insert 1 marker-thread before the next stitch, knit 20-20-24-24-24-24 stitches (front piece), insert 1 marker-thread before the next stitch, knit 20-20-20-20-20-24-24 (sleeve), insert 1 marker-thread before the next stitch, knit the last 11-11-13-13-13-13 stitches (approx. half back piece). Work stockinette stitch in the round and increase for raglan as follows: REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Increase for RAGLAN on each side of all 4 marker-threads – read description above, every 2nd round a total of 4-7-2-5-1-1 times = 112-136-104-128-104-104 stitches. Continue increasing every 2nd round but every second round is now only on the front and back pieces (4 stitches increased). I.e., increase on the front and back pieces every 2nd round and on the sleeves every 4th round. Increase like this 10-8-14-12-16-18 times on the front and back pieces (5-4-7-6-8-9 times on the sleeves). You have increased a total of 14-15-16-17-17-19 times on the front and back pieces and 9-11-9-11-9-10 times on the sleeves. After the last increase there are 172-184-188-200-200-212 stitches (48-50-56-58-58-62 stitches between marker threads on the front and back pieces and 38-42-38-42-42-44 stitches between marker threads on the sleeves). The yoke measures approx. 13-14-15-15-15-17 cm = 5⅛"-5½"-6"-6"-6"-6¾" from the neck mid-front. Continue with stockinette stitch, without further increases, until the yoke measures 13-14-15-16-16-18 cm = 5⅛"-5½"-6"-6¼"-6¼"-7". Divide for the body and sleeves as follows: Knit 25-27-28-30-30-32 (approx. half back piece), place the next 34-36-36-38-38-40 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit 52-56-58-62-62-66 (front piece), place the next 34-36-36-38-38-40 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches (in side under sleeve), knit the last 27-29-30-32-32-34 stitches (approx. half back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. The piece is now measured from here! BODY: = 120-128-136-144-148-156 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch in the round for a further 16-19-22-25-28-29 cm = 6¼"-7½"-8¾"-9¾"-11"-11⅜". Knit 1 round and increase 20-24-24-24-28-28 stitches evenly spaced = 140-152-160-168-176-184 stitches. Change to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Bind off a little loosely. The sweater measures approx. 37-41-45-49-53-56 cm = 14½"-16⅛"-17¾"-19¼"-21"-22" from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 34-36-36-38-38-40 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 5 MM = US 8 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 42-44-46-48-50-52 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve. Start at the marker-thread and work stockinette stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 3-3-3-4-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-1½", decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 3½-4½-5½-5-6-6½ cm = 1¼"-1⅝"-2⅛"-2"-2⅜"-2½" a total of 4-4-4-5-5-5 times = 34-36-38-38-40-42 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 17-22-25-29-33-36 cm = 6¾"-8¾"-9¾"-11⅜"-13"-14¼" from the division (or to desired length. There is approx. 3 cm = 1⅛" left). Knit 1 round and increase 6-4-6-6-8-6 stitches evenly spaced = 40-40-44-44-48-48 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4 and work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Bind off a little loosely. The sleeve measures approx. 20-25-28-32-36-39 cm = 8"-9¾"-11"-12½"-14¼"-15¼" from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
