---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: BEFORE MARKER: Work until 2 stitches remain until marker. Slip 1 stitch on cable needle behind piece, make 1 yarn over, knit 1 and knit 1 from cable needle (= 1 stitch increased). Knit yarn overs twisted on next round. AFTER MARKER: Slip 1 stitch on cable needle in front of piece, make 1 yarn over, knit 1 and knit 1 from cable needle (= 1 stitch increased). Knit yarn overs twisted on next round. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP (applies to sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). When decreasing 1 stitch, decrease alternately before and after marker thread. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on double pointed needles/circular needle from right shoulder back and work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Fold the neck edge double against the wrong side and fasten. If 0 is given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information until next information. NECK EDGE: Cast on 40-40-44-44-48-48-52 stitches on double pointed needles size 7 MM = US 10.75 with 1 strand DROPS Polaris or 2 strands DROPS Snow - you can use Italian cast-on. Work rib in the round (= knit 1/purl 1) for 4-4-4-5-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2"-2". Beginning of round is at right shoulder at the back. Insert 1 marker after the first 13-13-15-15-16-16-18 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measure piece from this marker. YOKE: Insert 4 markers in piece without working the stitches, insert markers in a stitch, these stitches are called raglan stitches and increase is done for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Insert 1st marker in first stitch, count 5-5-7-7-7-7-9 stitches (= sleeve), insert 2nd marker in next stitch, count 13-13-13-13-15-15-15 stitches (= front piece), insert 3rd marker in next stitch, count 5-5-7-7-7-7-9 stitches (= sleeve), insert 4th marker in next stitch, 13-13-13-13-15-15-15 stitches remain after last marker (= back piece). Work first round as follows, begin from right shoulder at the back: ROUND 1: Work stockinette stitch while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 0-2-2-2-2-4-4 stitches evenly over front piece and 0-2-2-2-2-4-4 stitches evenly over back piece (increase by making a yarn over) = 40-44-48-48-52-56-60 stitches on needle. ROUND 2: Work in stockinette stitch, knit yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Switch to double pointed needles size 12 MM = US 17, work in stockinette stitch in the round and increase for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches - read explanation above for increase method. ROUND 1: Work in stockinette stitch and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). NOTE! At the beginning of round increase after stitch with 1st marker and at the end of round increase before stitch with 1st marker. ROUND 2: Work in stockinette stitch. Work 1st and 2nd ROUND 8-8-8-10-10-10-8 times (= 16-16-16-20-20-20-16 rounds have been worked) = 104-108-112-128-132-136-124 stitches on needle. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! Then work and increase as follows: ROUND 1: Work in stockinette stitch and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROUND 2: Work in stockinette stitch. ROUND 3: Work in stockinette stitch and increase for raglan on front piece and back piece, i.e. increase after 2nd and 4th marker and before 3rd and 1st marker - do not increase stitches on sleeves (= 4 stitches increased). ROUND 4: Work in stockinette stitch. Work 1st to 4th ROUND 2-2-2-2-2-2-4 times (= 8-8-8-8-8-8-16 rounds worked = 2-2-2-2-2-2-4 increases on sleeves and 4-4-4-4-4-4-8 increases on front piece/back piece) = 128-132-136-152-156-160-172 stitches on needle. All increases for raglan are now done, 12-12-12-14-14-14-16 increases have been done in total on front piece/back piece and 10-10-10-12-12-12-12 increases on sleeves. Work in stockinette stitch without increase until piece measures 22-23-23-25-26-27-29 cm = 8¾"-9"-9"-9¾"-10¼"-10⅝"-11⅜" from marker mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 stitches in stockinette stitch (belong to back piece), slip the next 25-25-27-31-31-31-33 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 2-2-6-6-8-10-10 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 39-41-41-45-47-49-53 stitches in stockinette stitch (= front piece), slip the next 25-25-27-31-31-31-33 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 2-2-6-6-8-10-10 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve) and work the last 38-40-40-44-46-48-52 stitches in stockinette stitch (= rest of back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 82-86-94-102-110-118-126 stitches. Work in the round with stockinette stitch until piece measures 44-47-47-48-50-52-52 cm = 17¼"-18½"-18½"-19"-19¾"-20½"-20½" from marker mid front. Switch to circular needles size 7 MM = US 10.75, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 20-22-24-26-28-30-32 stitches evenly on 1st round = 102-108-118-128-134-148-158 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-6 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2"-2⅜", bind off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sweater measures 48-51-52-54-56-58-58 cm = 19"-20"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-22¾" from marker mid front and approx. 51-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm = 20"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼" from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 25-25-27-31-31-31-33 sleeve stitches from one thread on to double pointed needles/circular needle size 12 MM = US 17 and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 2-2-6-6-8-10-10 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 27-27-33-37-39-41-43 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 2-2-6-6-8-10-10 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stockinette stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 cm = ⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜" from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 0-0-1-2-2-3-3 times on every other round, then decrease 1 stitch alternately before and after marker thread every 14-15-7-4-3½-4½-3 cm = 5½"-6"-2¾"-1½"-1¼"-1⅝"-1⅛" 3-3-5-7-8-6-8 times in total = 24-24-26-26-27-29-29 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 38-39-40-38-37-37-35 cm = 15"-15¼"-15¾"-15"-14½"-14½"-13¾" from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 7 MM = US 10.75 and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 6-5-6-6-7-7-7 stitches evenly on 1st round = 30-30-32-32-34-36-36 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-6 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2"-2⅜", bind off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 42-43-44-43-42-42-41 cm = 16½"-17"-17¼"-17"-16½"-16½"-16⅛" from division. |
