---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN (when working back and forth): Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over from right side. On next row work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE MARKER: Purl yarn overs in back loop of stitches to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in pattern. AFTER MARKER: Slip stitch off left needle and put it back on left needle but the opposite way (insert left needle from behind when slipping it back on needle). Purl yarn overs in front loop of stitches to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in pattern. RAGLAN (when working in the round): Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next round work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE MARKER: Slip stitch off left needle and put it back on left needle but the opposite way (insert left needle in from behind when slipping it back on needle). Knit yarn overs in front loop of stitches to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in pattern. AFTER MARKER: Knit yarn overs in back loop of stitches to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in pattern. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. Number of stitches in diagram A.2 varies between 8 and 9 stitches because of increases and decreases in pattern - number of stitches in pattern is based on A.2 having 8 stitches. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Adjust decrease to decrease on a knit round. Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker, knit 2 together, knit 3 (marker is in the middle stitch), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Worked top down. Cast on stitches for neckline and work back and forth on circular needle - AT THE SAME TIME cast on new stitches in each side of row until correct number of stitches and the neck is done. Then work the yoke in the round on circular needle top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work a high collar in the round. If 0 stitches are given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information and jump to next information. NECKLINE: Cast on 53-55-59-65-69-71-73 stitches on circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 with DROPS Nepal. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Insert 4 markers in piece without working the stitches, insert markers in a stitch, these stitches are called raglan stitches and increase is done for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Raglan stitches are worked in stockinette stitch. Count 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 stitch (= left side front), insert 1st marker in next stitch, count 11-11-13-15-17-17-17 stitches (= sleeve), insert 2nd marker in next stitch, count 25-27-27-29-29-31-33 stitches (= back piece), insert 3rd marker in next stitch, count 11-11-13-15-17-17-17 stitches (= sleeve), insert 4th marker in next stitch. 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 stitch remains on row for right side front. INFORMATION BEFORE CONTINUING: Work back and forth - AT THE SAME TIME cast on new stitches for neck, increase for RAGLAN and work PATTERN - read explanation above, i.e. first work in stockinette stitch until a few cm have been worked after neck is done, then work pattern. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! WORK AND INCREASE AS FOLLOWS: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, then cast on 1 new stitch for neck at the end of row (= 9 stitches increased) = 62-64-68-74-78-80-82 stitches. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl (remember to work yarn overs twisted to separate side as explained in RAGLAN), then cast on 1 new stitch for neck at the end of row (= 1 stitch increased) = 63-65-69-75-79-81-83 stitches. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, then cast on 1 new stitch for neck at the end of row (= 9 stitches increased) = 72-74-78-84-88-90-92 stitches. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl (work yarn overs twisted to separate side), then cast on 1 new stitch for neck at the end of row (= 1 stitch increased) = 73-75-79-85-89-91-93 stitches. ROW 5 (= right side): Knit, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 10 stitches increased) = 83-85-89-95-99-101-103 stitches. ROW 6 (= wrong side): Purl (work yarn overs twisted to separate side), then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 2 stitch increased) = 85-87-91-97-101-103-105 stitches. ROW 7 (= right side): Knit, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 10 stitches increased) = 95-97-101-107-111-113-115 stitches. ROW 8 (= wrong side): Purl (work yarn overs twisted to separate side), then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 2 stitch increased) = 97-99-103-109-113-115-117 stitches. ROW 9 (= right side): Knit, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches, then cast on 11-13-13-15-15-17-19 new stitches for neck at the end of row (= 19-21-21-23-23-25-27 stitches increased) = 116-120-124-132-136-140-144 stitches. Neckline is done and 5 increases for raglan have been done on each side of the 4 raglan stitches, there are 37-39-39-41-41-43-45 stitches on front piece/back piece (including raglan stitches) and 21-21-23-25-27-27-27 stitches on sleeves (inside raglan stitches). Cut the yarn. Then work in the round on circular needle from right shoulder back, thus move stitches from left needle on to right needle until 3rd marker inserted (= right shoulder back) - NOTE! Do not work the stitches but move them. This is done so that the pattern fits when beginning of round is moved. YOKE: ROUND 1: Knit and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased) NOTE! Increase AFTER marker at beginning of round and BEFORE MARKER at the end of round. ROUND 2: Knit (remember to work yarn overs twisted to separate side as explained in RAGLAN when working in the round). Work 1st and 2nd ROUND until piece measures 3-4-4-5-3-4-2 cm = 1⅛"-1½"-1½"-2"-1⅛"-1½"-¾" from where neckline was done. Now work pattern while continuing increases as before, work as follows: ROUND 1: Increase for raglan after raglan stitch, work A.1 until next marker, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitch (always work raglan stitches in stockinette stitch), work A.1 until next marker (begin A.1 with same stitch (knit or purl) as A.1 ended with before raglan stitch - this applies to every time moss stitch is worked after raglan stitch), increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitch, work A.1 until next marker, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitch, work A.1 until next marker, increase for raglan before raglan stitch (= 8 stitches increased). ROUND 2: Work A.1 as before (remember to knit raglan stitches and to work yarn overs twisted to separate side). AFTER ROUND 2: Work 1st and 2nd ROUND until 10-13-14-16-20-14-18 increases for raglan have been done in total, including increases in neckline (= 20-26-28-32-40-28-36 rounds worked). There are 47-55-57-63-71-61-71 stitches on front piece/back piece (including raglan stitches) and 31-37-41-47-57-45-53 stitches on sleeves (inside raglan stitches) = 156-184-196-220-256-212-248 stitches. Then work and increase as follows (continue pattern as before): ROUND 1: Work in A.1 as before and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROUND 2: Work A.1 as before (remember to knit raglan stitches and to work yarn overs twisted). ROUND 3: Work A.1 as before and increase for raglan AFTER 1st and 3rd marker on round and BEFORE 2nd and 4th marker (only increase on front piece/back piece - not on sleeves = 4 stitches increased). ROUND 4: Work A.1 as before (knit raglan stitches and work yarn overs twisted to separate side). AFTER ROUND 4: Work 1st to 4th ROUND 7-6-6-6-4-9-8 times in total (= 28-24-24-24-16-36-32 rounds worked), 7-6-6-6-4-9-8 increases have been done on sleeves and 14-12-12-12-8-18-16 increases have been done on front piece/back piece) = 240-256-268-292-304-320-344 stitches on needle. All increases are now done, 24-25-26-28-28-32-34 increases have been done in total for front piece/back piece and 17-19-20-22-24-23-26 increases have been done in total on sleeves = 75-79-81-87-87-97-103 stitches on front piece/back piece and 45-49-53-59-65-63-69 stitches on sleeves. Piece measures approx. 18-19-20-21-21-25-27 cm = 7"-7½"-8"-8¼"-8¼"-9¾"-10⅝" measured mid front (piece measures approx. 25-26-28-29-30-34-36 cm = 9¾"-10¼"-11"-11⅜"-11¾"-13⅜"-14¼" from shoulder when garment is folded on shoulder). If piece is shorter than this, work without increases until correct measurements (continue pattern as before). Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing piece for body and sleeves the raglan stitches will be placed somewhat in on front piece/back piece, i.e. AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work the first 1-2-3-3-5-4-6 stitches as before (these stitches belong to back piece), slip the next 45-47-49-55-57-57-59 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 9-11-13-15-17-21-23 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 75-81-85-91-95-103-113 stitches as before (= front piece), slip the next 45-47-49-55-57-57-59 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 9-11-13-15-17-21-23 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work the last 74-79-82-88-90-99-107 stitches as before (= front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 168-184-196-212-224-248-272 stitches. Insert 1 marker in one side of piece (in the middle of the 9-11-13-15-17-21-23 stitches that were cast on under sleeve). Work until marker, round begins here and work in the round. Continue pattern as before until piece measures approx. 39-41-42-42-43-44-46 cm = 15¼"-16⅛"-16½"-16½"-17"-17¼"-18" measured from neck mid front – piece measures approx. 46-48-50-51-53-54-56 cm = 18"-19"-19¾"-20"-21"-21¼"-22" from shoulder – adjust to work at least 5 cm = 2" in stockinette stitch after last stripe with relief pattern. On next round begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 56-64-68-68-80-88-96 stitches evenly on 1st round = 224-248-264-280-304-336-368 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and work A.2 28-31-33-35-38-42-46 times in total in the round on body - remember increase. Continue pattern like this until piece measures approx. 8-8-8-9-9-10-10 cm = 3⅛"-3⅛"-3⅛"-3½"-3½"-4"-4" - finish after 3rd or 4th round in diagram. Bind off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sweater measures approx. 47-49-50-51-52-54-56 cm = 18½"-19¼"-19¾"-20"-20½"-21¼"-22" from neck mid front and approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm = 21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26" from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 45-47-49-55-57-57-59 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 9-11-13-15-17-21-23 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 54-58-62-70-74-78-82 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 9-11-13-15-17-21-23 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at marker. Work A.1 in the round - continue pattern from yoke. AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 cm = ⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜" from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 2-2-2-2-2-3-3 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches every 2-2-2-2-2-2-2 cm = ¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-¾" 0-0-2-4-4-4-4 times in total = 50-54-54-58-62-64-68 stitches on needle. Continue until sleeve measures 34-33-33-32-33-28-26 cm = 13⅜"-13"-13"-12½"-13"-11"-10¼" from division – adjust so that at least 5 cm = 2" in stockinette stitch have been worked after last stripe with relief pattern. On next round begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 22-18-26-22-26-24-28 stitches evenly on 1st round = 72-72-80-80-88-88-96 stitches, work as follows: Switch to double pointed needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and work A.2 9-9-10-10-11-11-12 times in total in the round on sleeve - remember increase. Continue pattern like this until rib measures 12-12-12-13-13-14-14 cm = 4¾"-4¾"-4¾"-5⅛"-5⅛"-5½"-5½" - finish after 3rd or 4th round in diagram. Bind off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 46-45-45-45-46-42-40 cm = 18"-17¾"-17¾"-17¾"-18"-16½"-15¾" from division. HIGH COLLAR: Use circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4, begin from right side and pick up approx. 76-80-84-92-96-100-104 stitches around the neck inside 1 stitch. Knit 1 round while increasing evenly to 98-104-108-120-124-130-134 – number of stitches must be divisible by 2. Work rib in the round (= knit 1/purl 1) for 9-10-11-12-12-13-13 cm = 3½"-4"-4⅜"-4¾"-4¾"-5⅛"-5⅛". Bind off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. |
