Bon tricot!

When the work measures 10 (11-12) cm [4" (4.25" - 4.75")], establish pattern as follows: Pattern 2, Pattern 3, Pattern 2, Pattern 4, Pattern 2, Pattern 3, Pattern 5 (start Pattern 3 and Pattern 4 at the appropriate arrows) = 132 (138-144) sts for the front, start at the arrow again and establish pattern across the back as on the front = 132 (138-144) sts). When the work measures 26 (27-27) cm [10.25" (10-⅝" - 10-⅝")], increase 5 sts each side for armholes (these sts are for the steeks and are not knit into the pattern). When the work measures 47 (48-49) cm [18.5" (18-⅞" - 19.25")], bind off the center front 30 (32-34) sts for the neck and knit the rest back and forth on the needles. Bind off at each neck edge every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 3 times. At the same time, when the work measures 51 (52-53) cm [20" (20.5" - 20-⅞")], bind off the center 42 (44-46) sts in the back for the neck. Then bind off 2 sts at each back neck edge on the next row. Bind off after Pattern 5; the work measures approx. 53 (54-55) cm [20-⅞" (21.25" - 21-⅝")]. Sleeves: Cast on 56 (58-58) sts on smaller double pointed needles with red Alpaca; join and place a marker at the join. Knit garter st for 2 cm [0.75"]. Change to larger double pointed needles and knit Pattern 6 (see instructions above). At the same time, when the work measures 5 cm [2"], inc 1 st each side of marker 34 (33-35) times: Sizes S + L: every 3rd row Size M: alternately every 3rd and every 4th row = 124 (124-128) sts. At the same time, when the work measures 39.5 (39.5-38.5) cm [15.5" (15.5" - 15-⅛")], knit Pattern 5. After Pattern 5, knit 2 cm [0.75"] reverse stockinette stitch for a seam allowance over the cut edge on the body. Bind off. The work measures approx. 46 (46-45) cm [18-⅛" (18-⅛" - 17.75")]. Assembly: Sew a marker thread down into the center of the increased sts each side. Sew two machine seams around the marker threads, 1st seam = 1/2 st from the thread, 2nd seam = 1/2 st from the 1st seam. Cut up for armholes. Sew shoulder seams. Sew the sleeves to the body from the right side as follows: Sew alternately a stitch in the last row of knitting on the sleeve before the seam allowance and a stitch on the body after the machine seam. Turn the sweater inside out and sew the seam allowance from the sleeve over the cut edge on the body by hand. Pick up approx. 85-90 sts on smaller double pointed needles with red around neck and knit stockinette stitch for 6 cm [2-⅜"], bind off. |
