Bon tricot!

In the finishing of the left front and back piece, it says change to 4mm needles and knit one row from the right side and knit one row from the wrong side. Are these rows knitted in pattern or should they be knitted in garter stitch?
22.07.2022 - 18:59DROPS Design answered:
Hi Bernice, you should work this part in garter stitch. Happy knitting!

Are there written instructions for this pattern I do not like working form charts but I love the design
22.05.2021 - 19:18DROPS Design answered:
Dear Patricia, we do not have the written out version not only because out patterns are available in many languages, but also because we believe that with charts you can not only see the very next step, but also the bigger picture, as in how stitches and rows relate to each other. However we do have a lesson about how to read our charts HERE, and you can always ask for help (either in person or ver the phone) in the store where you bought your DROPS yarn from. Happy Knitting!

05.12.2020 - 19:27DROPS Design answered:
Liebe Paula, wenn Sie bei den Hinreihen so stricken: A.1, A.2A wiederholen, A.2B und A.3 (die Diagramme werden rechts nach links gelesen bzw gestrickt); bei den Rückreihen stricken Sie: A.3, A.2B, A.2A wiederholen, A.1 (die Diagramme werden jetzt links nach rechts gelesen bzw gestrickt).

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.4 and A.5). The diagrams show all rows in the pattern seen from the right side. DECREASE TIP (for mid under sleeve): Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. BINDING-OFF TIP: To avoid the bind-off edge being tight you can bind off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as binding off and the yarn overs are bind off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle from mid front to mid back in 2 parts, which are sewn together mid back. The sleeves are worked top down. First the sleeve cap is worked back and forth with circular needle then the sleeve is continued in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle. The sleeves are sewn into the body to finish. LEFT FRONT AND BACK PIECE: Cast on 157-157-173-173-187-187 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm = US 7 and Cotton Merino. The first row is worked as follows from the right side: Work A.1 (= 9 stitches), A.2A until there are 10 stitches left on the row, A.2B (= 1 stitch) and finish with A.3 (= 9 stitches). Continue this pattern. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When A.2 has been completed, work the next row from the right side as follows: Continue A.1 as before, work A.4 (= 25-25-29-29-31-31 stitches), A.5 over the next 114-114-126-126-138-138 stitches (= 3 repeats of 38-38-42-42-46-46 stitches) and continue A.3 over the last stitches as before. Continue this pattern back and forth until the piece measures 46-47-48-49-50-51 cm = 18"-18½"-19"-19¼"-19¾"-20". On the next row from the right side bind off for the armhole as follows: Work the first 81-79-93-91-103-101 stitches as before, bind off the next 36-38-40-42-44-46 stitches and work the last 40 stitches as before. On the next row (wrong side), cast on 36-38-40-42-44-46 new stitches over the bind-off stitches for the armhole and continue the pattern back and forth as before. When the piece measures 63-65-67-69-71-73 cm = 24¾"-25½"-26⅜"-27⅛"-28"-28¾" change to circular needle size 4 mm = US 6 and knit 1 row from the wrong side and knit 1 row from the right side. Now work a gusset in garter stitch with short rows, so the edge of the jacket lies neatly at the back of the neck. Start from the wrong side and work as follows: Knit the first 39 stitches, turn the piece, tighten the strand and knit back. Turn, knit the first 36 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and knit back. Continue working 3 fewer stitches each time you turn until you have worked back and forth over the last 3 stitches. Knit 1 row from the wrong side over all stitches. Bind off with knit from the right side – read BINDING OFF TIP! Bind-off edge = mid back. RIGHT FRONT AND BACK PIECE: Cast on the same number of stitches and work in the same way as for the left front and back piece until the piece measures 46-47-48-49-50-51 cm = 18"-18½"-19"-19¼"-19¾"-20". On the next row from the right side, bind off for the armhole as follows: Work the first 40 stitches as before, bind off the next 36-38-40-42-44-46 stitches and work the last 81-79-93-91-103-101 stitches as before. On the next row cast on 36-38-40-42-44-46 stitches over the bind-off stitches and continue the pattern back and forth as before and in the same way as for the left front and back piece, until the piece measures 63-65-67-69-71-73 cm = 24¾"-25½"-26⅜"-27⅛"-28"-28¾". Change to circular needle size 4 mm = US 6. Knit 1 row from the wrong side. Now work the gusset as follows: Start from the right side and knit the first 39 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and knit back. Turn and knit the first 36 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and knit back. Continue working 3 fewer stitches each time you turn until you have worked back and forth over the last 3 stitches. Knit 1 row from the right side and knit 1 row from the wrong side over all stitches. Bind off with knit from the right side. SLEEVE: The sleeve is worked top down. The sleeve cap is worked first, back and forth with circular needle. Then the sleeve is worked in the round with short circular needle; change to double pointed needles when necessary. Cast on 28-32-36-40-44-48 stitches with short circular needle size 4.5 mm = US 7. Work stockinette stitch back and forth and AT THE SAME TIME cast on 5 stitches at the end of each row a total of 4 times on each side = 68-72-76-80-84-88 stitches. The piece now measures approx. 3 cm = 1⅛" from the cast-on edge. Insert 1 marker thread at the beginning of the row. Join the piece and work stockinette stitch in the round and allow the thread to follow your work onwards. When the piece measures 3-3-3-3-2-2 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-¾"-¾" from the join, decrease 2 stitches mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 3½-3-2½-2½-2½-2 cm = 1¼"-1⅛"-⅞"-⅞"-⅞"-¾" a total of 10-11-12-13-14-15 times = 48-50-52-54-56-58 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 38 cm = 15" from the join in all sizes (there are 4 cm = 1½" left to finished length; try the sleeve on and continue to desired length). Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm = US 6 and work A.6 in the round. Bind off with knit – remember BINDING-OFF TIP! The sleeve measures approx. 42 cm = 16½" from the cast-on edge down in all sizes. Work one more sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the 2 parts together mid back, inside the bind-off edge – sew with grafting stitches. Sew in the sleeves. |
