I am making this cardigan right now and I would like clarifications. After working the diagram M1, the pattern instructs to 'adjust' the number of stitches on the 1st row ( I presume that is the 1st row AFTER M1 is complete?) to 142-150-158-166-174. Is that number including the 10 garter sts of the front bands or not? Thank you for your prompt answer. Christine.
14.06.2017 - 08:31DROPS Design answered:
Dear Christine, you adjust the total number of sts (inluding band sts) on 1st row after M1 inc/dec evenly (see size). Happy knnitting!

Hej Bente.

Pull out one needle and K4 rows in garter sts. Insert 1 marker after 38-40-42-44-46 sts in from each side (back piece = 66-70-74-78-82 sts). When piece measures 15-17-19-21-23 cm / 6"-6¾"-7½"-8¼"-9" dec 1 sts for neck in each side towards mid front – read Decreasing tips. Repeat dec on every 4th row a total of 14-14-14-15-15 times. At the same time when piece measures 21-23-25-27-29 cm / 8¼"-9"-9¾"-10⅝"-11⅜" divide piece at markers and continue each piece separately. Back piece: = 66-70-74-78-82 sts. Cast on new sts loosely in each side for sleeves on every other row (i.e. at end of each row): 5 sts 8-9-10-10-10 times in total and 7-11-11-14-16 sts 1 time = 160-182-196-206-214 sts. Work the outermost 4 sts in each side in garter st (and remaining sts in stockinette as before). When piece measures 35-38-41-44-47 cm / 13¾"-15"-16⅛"-17¼"-18½" work garter st over the mid 28-28-28-30-30 sts, and rem sts as before. When piece measures 36-39-42-45-48 cm / 14¼"-15¼"-16½"-17¾"-19" bind off mid 16-16-16-18-18 sts for neck and work each shoulder separately. Continue and bind off 1 sts on next row at neckline = 71-82-89-93-97 sts left on shoulder/sleeve. Continue with 5 sts garter sts at neckline until piece is completed. Bind off when piece measures 38-41-44-47-50 cm / 15"-16⅛"-17¼"-18½"-19¾". Front piece: Continue binding off for neckline. Inc for sleeve at side as on back piece. Work outermost 4 sts at side in garter st (work remaining sts as before). There are 71-82-89-93-97 sts on needle when all dec and inc are completed. Bind off when piece measures 38-41-44-47-50 cm / 15"-16⅛"-17¼"-18½"-19¾". Assembly: Sew shoulder and sleeve seams. Sew sleeve and side seams in one. Crochet button cover: Crochet 2 covers on hook size 3 mm / C in Muskat.
