I have not seen a chart like this before and don't know how to interpret it. Please can you explain.
07.04.2025 - 08:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Harrison, you can read more about diagrams here - note that the both patterns are not repeated over the same number of rows, when the cable is done, continue lace pattern and repeat cable from first row so that you will cross stitches every 8th row. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

Multiple Questions - Translations for the Titles on the Chart - 1. Does "Bo l" translate to Beginning of Round for the Body pieces? - based on the size selected. 2. Does "Start erme" translate to Starting point for sleeves?
30.07.2020 - 16:31DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Cersosimo, yes correct, "Bol M/L" or "Bol S/M" shows where to start body in each size in diagram. Correct for sleeve too, "Start erme" means "start sleeve here". Happy knitting!

Pattern: See diagram. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS. Rib: *K1 into back of loop, P1*, repeat from *-*. Front piece: Cast on 96-99 sts on needle size 2.5 mm = US 1,5 and work 3 cm = 1⅛" Rib. Change to needle size 4 mm = US 6 and P 1 row, at the same time inc 18-21 sts evenly on row = 114-120 sts. Work pattern (beg by arrow). Remember the knitting gauge! When piece measures 36-38 cm = 14¼"-15" bind off the middle 12-14 sts for neck and dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 6 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 4 times, 1 st 5 times. Bind off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 43-45 cm = 17"-17¾". Back piece: Cast on and work like front piece, but bind off the middle 50-52 sts when piece measures 40-42 cm = 15¾"-16½". Dec to shape the neckline on every row: 1 st 3 times. Bind off as described for front piece. Sleeve: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 60-63 sts on needle size 2.5 mm = US 1,5 and work 2 cm = ¾" Rib. Change to needle size 4 mm = US 6, P 1 round, at the same time inc 18-15 sts evenly = 78-78 sts. Continue in pattern (beg by arrow mid under sleeve). At the same time inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 24-24 times on every 3rd round = 126-126 sts (incorporate inc sts in pattern as you go along). Bind off when piece measures 34-34 cm = 13⅜"-13⅜". Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx 111 sts round neckline on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm = US 1,5, P 1 round, and then work 2 cm = ¾" Rib, bind off. Set in sleeves, and sew side and sleeve seams. |
