CARDIGAN: Gauge: 10 sts x 14 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Increasing tips (for the collar): Inc 1 st by knitting 2 sts in the next to outermost st. Knitting tips (for neck shaping): All decs are made from right side. Dec 1 st inside 4 buttonband sts + the increased sts for the collar as follows: Before the buttonband/collar sts: K 2 tog. After the buttonband/collar sts: slip 1 st as if to knit, K 1, psso Back: Cast on 44-48-52-56-62 sts on smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st, then change to larger needles and stockinette st. When the piece measures 10 cm dec 1 st at each side = 42-46-50-54-60 sts. When the piece measures 20 cm inc 1 st at each side, repeat inc when the piece measures 30 cm = 46-50-54-58-64 sts. When the piece measures 32 cm knit garter st to finished measurements. When the piece measures 36-37-38-39-40 cm bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 0-0-1-2-2 times and 1 st 2-3-2-2-4 times = 36-38-40-40-42 sts. When the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm bind off the center 8-8-10-10-10 sts for the neck. On the next row dec 1 st at each neck edge = 13-14-14-14-15 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 56-58-60-62-64 cm. Left front: Cast on 26-28-30-32-35 sts on smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and stockinette st, keeping 4 sts in garter st at the center front edge for buttonband. Dec and inc at the side as on back = 27-29-31-33-36 sts. Read the entire next section before knitting: When the piece measures 32 cm knit garter st to finished measurements. Collar: When the piece measures 32-33-34-35-36 cm inc 1 st inside of first buttonband st – see increasing tips. On the next row, knit 2 rows garter st over only the outermost 5 sts (do not knit the rest of the sts – you are making short rows). Then knit all sts, and inc 1 st inside of the outermost buttonband st – see Increasing-tips – every row 4 times, then every other row 6 times and then every 4 rows 2 times = 13 sts increased for collar – knit the increased sts in garter st = 17 sts in garter st. Neck shaping: When the piece measures 36-37-38-39-40 cm dec 1 st for neck every other row 9-9-10-10-10 times – see knitting tips. Armhole: At the same time you begin neck shaping, bind off for armhole at the side as on back. After all neck and armhole shaping is complete, 26-27-27-27-28 sts remain. When the piece measures 56-58-60-62-64 cm bind off 13-14-14-14-15 sts on shoulder (incl. 4 buttonband sts) = 13 collar sts remain. Collar: Continue with garter st as follows: * 2 rows garter st over all sts, 2 rows garter st over only the outermost 8 sts *, repeat from * - * until the collar measures approx. 5-6 cm from shoulder – it should reach the center back. Put sts on a st holder. Right front: Cast on and knit the same as the left, reversing all shaping. Make buttonholes along buttonbands. 1 buttonhole = K tog the 2nd and 3rd sts from center front and then yo. On the next row, twist and knit the yo so that the buttonhole will not be too loose. Make buttonholes when the piece measures: Size S: 2, 9, 17, 25 and 32 cm. Size M: 2, 10, 18, 25 and 33 cm. Size L: 2, 10, 18, 26 and 34 cm. Size XL: 3, 11, 19, 27 and 35 cm. Size XXL: 4, 12, 20, 28 and 36 cm. The last buttonhole will be made in rows where you are increasing for collar. Sleeve: Cast on 23-24-26-26-27 sts on smaller needles and knit garter st for 10 cm. Change to larger needles and stockinette st. After the garter st inc 1 st at each side every 5-5-5-4-3.5 cm a total of 8-8-8-9-10 times = 39-40-42-44-47 sts. When sleeve measures 49-48-47-45-44 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2-2-2-1-1 times and 1 st 1-1-2-4-5 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 57 cm. Bind off the remaining sts. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Join the collar at center back. Sew the collar to back neck edge. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. Sew on buttons. An arrow indicates the center stitch on the front. Knitting tips (for armhole): All decs are made from right side. Dec 1 st inside 3 edge sts knit in garter st as follows: After 3 edge sts: Slip 1 st as if to knit, K 1, psso. Before 3 edge sts: K 2 tog. Front: Cast on 39-43-47-51-57 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib as follows - row 1 = right side: Sizes S, M, L and XL: K 1 (edge st), * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from * - *, end with K 1 and K 1 (edge st). Size XXL: K 1 (edge st), * P 1, K 1 *, repeat from * *, end with P 1 and K 1 (edge st). After 4 rows rib change to larger needles and stockinette st but keep the 3 center sts in rib (P 1, K 1, P 1 seen from right side). Read the entire next section before knitting: Pattern: When the piece measures 24-26-27-29-31 cm knit Pattern 2 over the center 5 sts – knit the remaining sts in stockinette st – you will be increasing 2 sts every 6 rows of Pattern 2 because of the yarn overs. Armhole: When the piece measures 32-33-34-35-36 cm knit 4 rows garter st over 5-6-6-6-7 sts at each side (knit the remaining sts the same as before), then bind off 2-3-3-3-4 sts at each side for armhole. Neck: When the piece measures approx. 44-46-47-49-51 cm (knit at least 2 rows past the last yo row) put the center 7-7-9-9-9 sts on a st holder for collar. Then bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 2 times = 10-10-10-10-11 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58 cm. Back: Cast on 39-43-47-51-57 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib as follows- row 1 = right side: Sizes S, M, L and XL: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), * P 1, K 1 *, repeat from * - *, end with P 1 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st). Size XXL: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), *K 1, P 1 *, repeat from * *, end with K 1 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st). After 4 rows rib change to larger needles and stockinette st over all sts. When the piece measures 12 and 20 cm inc 1 st at each side = 43-47-51-55-61 sts. When the piece measures 32-33-34-35-36 cm knit 4 rows garter st over 5-6-6-6-7 sts at each side (knit the remaining sts the same as before), then bind off 2-3-3-3-4 sts at each side for armhole. Then dec 1 st at armhole every other row 2-3-4-6-7 times – see knitting tips = 35-35-37-37-39 sts. When the piece measures 48-50-52-54-56 cm bind off the center 13-13-15-15-15 sts for the neck. On the next row dec 1 st at each neck edge = 10-10-10-10-11 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams and side seams using edge sts as seam allowance. Collar: Pick up approx. 44-52 sts (incl. sts on st holder) on smaller double-pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit rib - see that a K 1 is at center front. When the collar measures 18 cm loosely bind off all sts in rib (if you need to bind off more loosely, inc 1 st in every 3rd st at the same time as you bind off). Fold the collar double to wrong side and stitch in place. SCARF: Measurement: approx. 22 x 180 cm [8⅝" x 70⅞"] Materials: DROPS HIGHLANDER from Garnstudio (discontinued - use Snow) 50 gr nr 09, natural and use: DROPS VIVALDI from Garnstudio 50 gr nr 02, brown DROPS 9 mm [US 13] needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge. Gauge: 9 sts with 2 strands of each yarn in lace pattern = 10 cm in width. Lace pattern: Row 1 (right side): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), * K 1, yo, sl 1 as if to P *, repeat from * - * to last 2 sts, end with K 1, then K 1 (edge st knit in garter st). Row 2 (wrong side): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), * yo, sl 1 as if to P, K tog the next st and the yo from previous row *, repeat from * - * to last 2 sts, end with yo, sl 1 as if to P, then K 1 (edge st knit in garter st).
