------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP-1: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is purled twisted on the next round to avoid a hole. RAGLAN: All increases are worked on the front and back pieces, the stitch count on the sleeves remains the same. NOTE: At the beginning of the round increase after marker-2 and at the end of the round before marker-1. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the round below, pick up the strand from the front and knit through the stitch-loop that lies on the back of the needle. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT: Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the round below, pick up the strand from the back and knit through the stitch-loop that lies on the front of the needle. INCREASE TIP-2: Increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread. Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker-thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP-1: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). DECREASE TIP-2 (for sleeves): Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, knit 2, knit 2 together (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- TOP - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder, increasing for raglan. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. NECK: Cast on 132-132-138-138-150-150-162 stitches with circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 and DROPS Cotton Light. Knit 1 round. The round begins on the right back shoulder. On the next round begin the rib. At the same time insert markers which are used to increase for raglan later. Allow these markers to follow your work onwards. Work as follows: SLEEVE: Insert marker-1 at the beginning of the round, knit 2, work rib (purl 1 and knit 2) across the next 39-39-42-42-48-48-54 stitches, purl 1, knit 2, insert marker-2 here. FRONT PIECE: Work rib (purl 2 and knit 2) across the next 20 stitches, purl 2. SLEEVE: Insert marker-3 here, knit 2, work rib (purl 1 and knit 2) across the next 39-39-42-42-48-48-54 stitches, purl 1, knit 2, insert marker-4 here. BACK PIECE: Work rib (purl 2 and knit 2) across the last 20 stitches, purl 2. Continue the rib until the neck measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-1½". YOKE: Insert 1 new marker after the first 55-55-58-58-64-64-70 stitches on the round (approx. mid-front). The piece is measured from here. Change to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6. Knit above knit and purl above purl as far as marker-2, at the same time increase 1 stitch in each purled section – read INCREASE TIP-1 (= sleeve), knit to marker-thread-3 (= front piece), knit above knit and purl above purl as far as marker-thread-4, at the same time increase 1 stitch in each purled section (= sleeve), knit to end of round (= back piece) = 160-160-168-168-184-184-200 stitches. There are 58-58-62-62-70-70-78 stitches between the markers on the sleeves and 22 stitches on the front and back pieces. Work 1 round with knit above knit and purl above purl. Continue the stockinette stitch on the front pieces and rib (= purl 2 and knit 2) on the sleeves as before. At the same time begin increasing for RAGLAN – read explanation above, working as follows: ROUND 1: Work rib as far as marker-2, INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT, knit to marker-3, INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT, work rib as far as marker-4, INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT, knit to marker-1, INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT. 4 increased stitches on the round. Remember to maintain the knitting gauge. Work ROUND 1 a total of 19-25-29-26-36-40-48 times = 236-260-284-272-328-344-392 stitches. Now increase every 2nd round as follows: ROUND 1: Work rib and stockinette stitch. Do not increase. ROUND 2: Work rib as far as marker-2, INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT, knit to marker-3, INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT, work rib as far as marker-4, INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT, knit to marker-1, INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT. 4 increased stitches on the round. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 9-6-5-9-4-4-1 times = 272-284-304-308-344-360-396 stitches. A total of 28-31-34-35-40-44-49 increases in height for raglan at each marker. The piece measures approx. 14-14-14-16-16-18-18 cm = 5½"-5½"-5½"-6¼"-6¼"-7"-7" from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES Knit 2 (belong to the back piece), place the next 54-54-58-58-66-66-74 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 6-8-10-16-18-22-24 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the next 82-88-94-96-106-114-124 stitches (front piece), place the next 54-54-58-58-66-66-74 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 6-8-10-16-18-22-24 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 80-86-92-94-104-112-122 stitches (rest of back piece). BODY: = 176-192-208-224-248-272-296 stitches. Insert 1 marker-thread in the middle of the 6-8-10-16-18-22-24 cast-on stitches on each side. The threads are used when decreasing/increasing later, allow them to follow your work onwards. Work stockinette stitch in the round. When the body measures 2 cm = ¾" from the division, decrease 1 stitch on each side of both marker-threads – read DECREASE TIP-1 In explanations above. Work the decreases every 2½-3-3-3-3-3-3 cm = 1"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛" a total of 4 times = 160-176-192-208-232-256-280 stitches. When the body measures 12-14-14-14-14-14-14 cm = 4¾"-5½"-5½"-5½"-5½"-5½"-5½" from the division, increase 1 stitch on each side of both marker-threads – read INCREASE TIP-2. Work the increases every 2½-3-3-3-3-3-3 cm = 1"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛" a total of 4 times = 176-192-208-224-248-272-296 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch until the body measures 22-25-27-27-26-26-27 cm = 8¾"-9¾"-10⅝"-10⅝"-10¼"-10¼"-10⅝" from the division. Change to circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5. Work rib (knit 2 and purl 2), at the same time increase 36-40-44-44-48-56-60 stitches evenly on the first round = 212-232-252-268-296-328-356 stitches. Work the rib for 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-1½". Bind off slightly loosely with rib. The piece measures approx. 40-43-44-46-47-49-49 cm = 15¾"-17"-17¼"-18"-18½"-19¼"-19¼" from the marker mid-front and 49-52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 19¼"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 54-54-58-58-66-66-74 sleeve-stitches from one stitch holder onto circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-8-10-16-18-22-24 cast-on stitches under the sleeve = 60-62-68-74-84-88-98 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 6-8-10-16-18-22-24 new stitches under the sleeve, this is used when decreasing later. Start at the marker-thread. Continue the rib in the round apart from the 6-8-10-16-18-22-24 new stitches under the sleeve which are knitted. When the sleeve measures 1 cm = ⅜" from the division, decrease on each side of 2 knitted stitches mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP-2. Decrease like this every 1-3-3-3-3-0-0 cm = ⅜"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-0"-0" a total of 3-2-3-2-2-1-1 times = 54-58-62-70-80-86-96 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 6-7-9-9-9-9-10 cm = 2⅜"-2¾"-3½"-3½"-3½"-3½"-4" from the division. Bind off slightly loosely with rib. |
