------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1 (= 2 increased stitches) and A.2 (= 1 increased stitch). INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g., 106 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 4) = 26.5. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after alternately each 26th and 27th stitch. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. If 0 is given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information until next information. NECK: Cast on 106-110-114-120-124-130 stitches with circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and DROPS Paris. Change to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 (casting on with a larger needle size makes the cast-on edge elastic). Knit 4 rounds, then work 3 rounds of rib (knit 1, purl 1). The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 35-36-38-40-41-43 stitches (approx. mid-front); the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8. Knit 1 round and increase 4-10-11-10-16-15 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 110-120-125-130-140-145 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch. Remember to maintain the knitting gauge. When the yoke measures 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2" from the marker, increase by working PATTERN – read description above, as follows: * Work 2 stockinette stitches, A.1, 1 stockinette stitch *, work from *-* a total of 22-24-25-26-28-29 times on the round = 154-168-175-182-196-203 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch until the yoke measures 8-8-8-10-10-10 cm = 3⅛"-3⅛"-3⅛"-4"-4"-4" from the marker. Work the next round as follows: * 3 stockinette stitches, A.1, 2 stockinette stitches *, work from *-* a total of 22-24-25-26-28-29 times on the round = 198-216-225-234-252-261 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch until the yoke measures 12-12-13-15-15-16 cm = 4¾"-4¾"-5⅛"-6"-6"-6¼" from the marker. FIND YOUR SIZE: Work the next round as described for your size below. SIZES S-M-L: * 4 stockinette stitches, A.2, 3 stockinette stitches *, work from *-* a total of 22-24-25 times on the round = 220-240-250 stitches. Go to ALL SIZES. SIZES XL-XXL-XXXL: * 4 stockinette stitches, A.1, 3 stockinette stitches *, work from *-* a total of 26-28-29 times on the round = 286-308-319 stitches. Go to ALL SIZES. ALL SIZES: Continue with stockinette stitch until the yoke measures 16-17-18-20-20-22 cm = 6¼"-6¾"-7"-8"-8"-8¾" from the marker. Work the next round as follows: * 4-4-4-5-5-5 stockinette stitches, A.2, 4-4-4-4-4-4 stockinette stitches *, work from *-* a total of 22-24-25-26-28-29 times on the round = 242-264-275-312-336-348 stitches. When the yoke measures 18-19-20-22-22-24 cm = 7"-7½"-8"-8¾"-8¾"-9½" from the marker, increase 2-0-9-0-0-12 stitches evenly spaced = 244-264-284-312-336-360 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch until the yoke measures 21-22-23-24-26-27 cm = 8¼"-8¾"-9"-9½"-10¼"-10⅝" from the marker. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Place the first 46-48-54-60-62-64 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches (under sleeve), knit 76-84-88-96-106-116 (= front piece), place the next 46-48-54-60-62-64 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches (under sleeve), knit the last 76-84-88-96-106-116 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 168-184-196-212-236-256 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch in the round until the piece measures 43-44-46-47-49-50 cm = 17"-17¼"-18"-18½"-19¼"-19¾" from the marker. Change to circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4, work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 28-32-36-36-40-44 stitches evenly on the first round – remember INCREASE TIP = 196-216-232-248-276-300 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2", bind off a little loosely. The sweater measures approx. 47-48-50-52-54-55 cm = 18½"-19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-21⅝" from the marker and 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" from top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 46-48-54-60-62-64 sleeve-stitches from one thread on circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 54-56-64-70-74-76 stitches. Work stockinette stitch in the round for 11-12-11-10-8-8 cm = 4⅜"-4¾"-4⅜"-4"-3⅛"-3⅛". Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 4-6-6-8-12-14 stitches evenly on the first round = 58-62-70-78-86-90 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-4-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½"-1½", bind off a little loosely. The sleeve measures approx. 14-15-14-14-12-12 cm = 5½"-6"-5½"-5½"-4¾"-4¾". |
