------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.5. Choose diagram for your size. The diagrams are worked in stockinette stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- GLOVES – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The gloves are worked in the round with double pointed needles, from the cuff upwards, and stitches are increased for the thumb. When the thumb-increases are finished, these stitches are placed on a thread, the hand is continued, then each finger is worked separately. LEFT GLOVE: Cast on 52-56 stitches with double pointed needles size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 and color light denim blue DROPS Karisma. Knit 1 round, then work rib (knit 1, purl 1) for 5 cm = 2". Work A.1 in the round – NOTE! There is a star in the diagram which shows the stitches for the left thumb – work A.2a across these 3 stitches, continuing A.1 across the other stitches. When you have increased 5 times in height, place the 13 thumb-stitches on a thread and cast on 3 stitches behind the thumb-stitches = 52-56 stitches. Continue A.1 in the round. Remember to maintain the knitting gauge. When A.1 has been completed, place the first 21-23 stitches on a thread, keep the next 14-14 stitches on the needles and place the last 17-19 stitches on a different thread. Work each finger separately. LITTLE FINGER: = 14-14 stitches, Cast on 6-8 stitches towards the stitches on the thread = 20-22 stitches. The little finger is worked according to diagrams A.3a, A.3b and A.3c. Start the pattern so A.1x matches A.1x on the glove. The finished length of the finger is 5½-6 cm = 2⅛"-2⅜". Work first A.3a, then repeat A.3b in height until there is ½ cm =⅛" left before the finished length, finish with A.3c. When the diagrams are finished there are 10-10 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. RING FINGER: Place 6-6 stitches from each thread back on double pointed needles size 2.5 MM = US 1.5, knit up 4-5 stitches towards the little finger and cast on 4-5 stitches towards the threads = 20-22 stitches. The ring finger is worked according to diagrams A.4a, A.4b and A.4c. Start the pattern across the stitches on the front of the glove. The finished length of the finger is 7-8 cm = 2¾"-3⅛". Work first A.4a, then repeat A.4b in height until there is ½ cm = ⅛" left to finished length, finish with A.4c. When the diagrams are finished there are 8-10 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. MIDDLE FINGER: Place 6-7 stitches from each thread back on double pointed needles size 2.5 MM = US 1.5, knit up 4-4 stitches towards the ring finger and cast on 4-4 stitches towards the threads = 20-22 stitches. The middle finger is worked according to diagrams A.4a, A.4b and A.4c. Start the pattern across the stitches on the front of the glove. The finished length of the finger is 7½-8 cm = 2⅞"-3⅛". Work first A.4a, then repeat A.4b until there is ½ cm = ⅛" left to finished length, finish with A.4c. When the diagrams are finished there are 8-10 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. INDEX FINGER: Place the remaining 14-16 stitches from threads back on double pointed needles size 2.5 MM = US 1.5, knit up 6-6 stitches towards the middle finger = 20-22 stitches. The index finger is worked according to diagram A.5. Start the pattern across the stitches on the front of the glove, so that A.1z matches A.1z on the glove. The finished length of the finger is 6½-7½ cm = 2½"-2⅞". Work first A.5a, then repeat A.5b until there is ½ cm = ⅛" left to finished length, finish with A.5c. When the diagrams are finished there are 10-10 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. THUMB: Place the 13 thumb-stitches back on double pointed needles size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 and knit up 9 stitches behind the thumb = 22 stitches. The thumb is worked according to diagrams A.2b and A.2c. Start the pattern so the stitches continue the established pattern on the front of the thumb. The finished length of the thumb is 5½-6 cm = 2⅛"-2⅜". Work A.2b until there is ½ cm = ⅛" left to finished length, finish with A.2c. When the diagram is finished there are 10-10 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. RIGHT GLOVE: Cast on and work in the same way as the left glove, but with the thumb on the opposite side - see star for right thumb. Then place the stitches on threads as follows: Keep the first 8-8 stitches and the last 6-6 stitches on the needle for the little finger, place the next 21-23 stitches on one thread and the following 17-19 stitches on a different thread. Work the fingers in the same way as on the left glove. |
