Is this pattern knitted in the round with all knit or one row knit and next row purl using round needles?
28.12.2018 - 15:23DROPS Design answered:
Dear Merle! The body is worked back and forth on circular needle. First you are working the border, then the piece is knit entirely in stockinette stitch (1 row knit, 1 row purl). Sleaves are worked in the round on double pointed needles, first the border, then in stockinette stitch (all rounds knit). Happy knitting!

Hej Siv, vi kan tyvärr inte hjälpa dig med att skriva om mönstret. Men om du ökar antal maskort så gör det med rapporter på 6 m (du har 6 m i diagrammet). Lycka till!

Gauge: 23 sts x 30 rows on larger needles in pattern = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Border: Knit 2 cm [0.75"] stockinette stitch, purl 1 row (= folding edge - measure the work from here), 2 cm [0.75"] stockinette stitch. Pattern: See chart. (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette stitch. Buttons: If buttons are desired rather than a zipper, instead of knitting zipper plackets as described under "Assembly", knit a button band as follows: Pick up approx. 75 sts along the left front on smaller needles with black and knit Border, bind off. Repeat along the right front, but after 0.5 cm [0.25"] make 5 buttonholes evenly distributed on the row (1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and increase 2 new sts over the bound-off sts on the next row). Make corresponding buttonholes on the facing. Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts all rows. Body: Cast on 231 (249) sts on smaller circular needles with black and knit Border. Change to larger circular needles and knit Pattern 1 once, keeping 1 st at each edge in garter st throughout (center front). After Pattern 1 place a marker for each side = 58 (63) sts for the front, 115 (123) sts for the back and 58 (63) sts for the front. Knit Pattern 2 for 8 cm [3-⅛"] and at the same time inc 1 st each side of each marker (4 sts increased): Size S/M: 6 times every 4th row Size M/L: 4 times every 4th row and then 1 st each side of each marker on the next row 1 time = 255 (267) sts. Knit the increased sts into Pattern 2 as you go along. After Pattern 2 knit Pattern 3 once, then repeat Pattern 4. When the work measures 23 (22) cm [9" (8-⅝")], inc 5 sts at each side (these sts are for the armhole steeks and are not knit into the pattern) = 64 (67) sts front, 127 (133) sts back, 64 (67) sts front. When the work measures 40 cm [15.75"], bind off for the neck at each front edge every other row: 8 (9) sts 1 time, 3 sts 2 times, 2 sts 2 times and then every 4th row: 1 st 2 times. At the same time, when the work measures 48 cm [18-⅞"], bind off the center back 35 (37) sts for the neck. Bind off 2 sts at each back neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 50 cm [19.75"]. Sleeves: Cast on 54 (54) sts on smaller double pointed needles with black; join and place a marker at the join. Knit Border. Change to larger double pointed needles and knit Pattern 1 once, then knit Pattern 2 for 8 cm [3-⅛"]. At the same time, when the work measures 5 cm [2"], inc 1 st each side of marker 35 (37) times every 3rd row = 124 (128) sts. After Pattern 2, knit Pattern 5 once, then repeat Pattern 6 to finished dimensions. When the work measures 45 (44) cm [17.75" (17.25")], put 2 sts each side of marker on a stitch holder and knit back and forth on the needles. Then put sts on the stitch holder on each side for sleeve caps every other row: 13 (14) sts 3 times. Put all sts from the stitch holder back on the needles; join and knit 2 cm [0.75"] reverse stockinette st for a seam allowance over the cut edge on the body, bind off. Assembly: Sew a marker thread down through the center of the steek sts at each side. Sew 2 machine seams around the marker thread - 1st seam 1/2 st from the marker thread and the 2nd seam 1/2 st from the 1st seam. Cut up between the machine seams for armholes. Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 95-100 sts along the left front on smaller needles with black and knit 4 rows garter st, bind off. Pick up sts again from the wrong side and knit stockinette st for 1 cm [3/8"], bind off (= zipper placket). Repeat along the right front. Sew in the zipper. If buttons instead of a zipper are desired, see instructions above. Pick up approx. 130 sts around the neck on smaller double pointed needles with black and knit 6 rows garter st, bind off. Sew the sleeves to the body as follows: Sew alternately a st in the last row of knitting on the sleeve before the seam allowance and a st after the machine seam on the body. Turn the sweater inside out and sew the seam allowance from the sleeve over the cut edge on the body by hand. Fold all edges over double against the wrong side and sew. |
