Hi, When I'm knitting A1, the fourth row is started on the wrong side (purl). I am wondering where I went wrong as I assume it is supposed to be a knit row due to the explanation at the top of the diagram. Regards, Sara

Hi Sara, i think you are right, i see on the picture that we didn´t purl the first row from wrong side. We will ask design for a correction, but if you don´t want to wait, you could just start with A.1 or knit one more row before you start :)

Dear Drops Team, cast-on 239 , minus 2x5 sts for bands. I have 229 left for pattern, 1 st too much. What do I do wrong? What do you mean by "work 1st st in A1"? Please shade some light for me. Thank you.
25.05.2021 - 10:26DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Moll, you have to work the first stitch of A.1 so that pattern will be symetrical on each side of the front band stitches, ie 5 front band sts, repeat the 12 sts in A.1 a total of 19 times, work now the first stitch in A.1 (P1 on 1st row, then 1 stitch in stocking st - work P1 in A.2) and finish with 5 front band sts. Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. MOSS STITCH: ROW 1: * Knit 1, purl 1 *, repeat from *-*. ROW 2: Knit over purl and purl over knit. Repeat 2nd row upwards. INCREASE TIP-1 (evenly): To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 215 stitches) minus bands (e.g. 10 stitches) and divide the remaining stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 12) = 17.1. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. every 17th stitch and do not increase over bands. On next row work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes INCREASE TIP-2 (applies to sleeves): Increase 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 1 stitch remains before marker thread, make 1 yarn over, work 2 stitches as before (marker thread is in the middle of these stitches), make 1 yarn over. On next round work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP (V-neck): All decreases are done from the right side: Decrease as follows on right front piece (= band stitches): Work 5 band stitches in moss stitch, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit next stitch, pass slipped stitch over, work the remaining stitches as before = 1 stitch decreased. Decrease as follows on left front piece(= band stitches): Work until 7 stitches remain, knit 2 together, work 5 band stitches in moss stitch as before = 1 stitch decreased. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band. 1 BUTTONHOLE = knit third and fourth stitch from edge together and make 1 yarn over. On next row knit yarn over = hole. Decrease for buttonholes when piece measures: S: 6, 11, 16, 21 and 27 cm = 2⅜", 4⅜", 6¼", 8¼" and 10⅝" M: 6, 11, 17, 22 and 28 cm = 2⅜", 4⅜", 6¾", 8¾" and 11" L: 6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 cm = 2⅜", 4¾", 7", 9½" and 11¾" XL: 6, 12, 18, 24 and 31 cm = 2⅜", 4¾", 7", 9½" and 12¼" XXL: 6, 12, 18, 25 and 32 cm = 2⅜", 4¾", 7", 9¾" and 12½" XXXL: 6, 12, 19, 26 and 33 cm = 2⅜", 4¾", 7½", 10¼" and 13" ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work jacket back and forth, bottom up, on circular needle from mid front, up to armhole. Now divide the piece; finish each part separately. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/circular needle. BODY: Cast on 215-239-263-287-311-335 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm = US 6 with Baby Merino. Purl 1 row from wrong side. Then work pattern from right side as follows: 5 stitches in MOSS STITCH (= band) - read explanation above, A.1 over the next 204-228-252-276-300-324 stitches (= 17-19-21-23-25-27 repetitions of 12 stitches), work 1st stitch in A.1 (so that pattern is the same in each side), finish with 5 stitches in moss stitch (= band). Decrease for BUTTONHOLES on right band - read explanation above. When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, switch to circular needle size 3 mm = US 2,5 and continue as follows: 5 band stitches in moss stitch, A.2 over the next 204-228-252-276-300-324 stitches, AT THE SAME TIME increase 12 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP-1, finish with 1st stitch in A.2 and 5 band stitches in moss stitch = 227-251-275-299-323-347 stitches on row. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Now work 18-20-22-24-26-28 repetitions of A.2 in width. Work until piece measures 25-26-27-28-29-30 cm = 9¾"-10¼"-10⅝"-11"-11⅜"-11¾" from cast-on edge. Work next row as follows from right side: Work the first 55-61-67-73-79-85 stitches, bind off the next 8 stitches, work the next 101-113-125-137-149-161 stitches, bind off the next 8 stitches, work the last 55-61-67-73-79-85 stitches on row.
