Bon tricot!

This is my personal favourite! It's a fresh shape, practical (for cool breezy nights), soft (in Air, although it could be made with a double-stranded A yarn), elegant, and hides those bump bits that come with age. :-)

Knitted jumper with lace pattern, turtle neck and split in DROPS Air. Sizes S - XXXL.

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): 1 ridge = Knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. The diagram shows all rows in the pattern from the right side. Row 1 = right side. BIND-OFF TIP: To prevent the bind-off edge being tight, you can make 1 yarn over after approx. each 5th stitch (the yarn over is bind off as normal). ---------------------------------------------------------- BACK PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 100-108-116-124-132-140 stitches with circular needle size 5 mm / US 8 and Air. Purl 1 row from the wrong side. The next row is worked as follows: 3 stitches GARTER STITCH – see description above, rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) until there are 3 stitches left, work 3 stitches garter stitch. When the piece measures 3-3-3-3-3-3 cm / 1"-1"-1"-1"-1"-1" change to circular needle size 6 mm / US 10 and purl 1 row from the wrong side where you decrease 17-18-19-20-21-22 stitches evenly along the row = 83-90-97-104-111-118 stitches. The next row is worked as follows: 3 stitches garter stitch, A.2 (= 7 stitches) in total 11-12-13-14-15-16 times in width, finish with 3 stitches garter stitch. Continue in this way and repeat A.2 in height until the piece measures 39-40-41-42-43-44 cm / 15¼"-15¾"-16⅛"-16½"-17"-17¼" – REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Then cast on 1 stitch at the end of the next 2 rows (= edge stitches) and the 3 garter stitches in each side are worked into the pattern = 85-92-99-106-113-120 stitches (including 1 edge stitch in each side). The piece measures 40-41-42-43-44-45 cm / 15¾"-16⅛"-16½"-17"-17¼"-17¾". Continue the pattern as before AT THE SAME TIME as you increase new stitches in each side for the sleeves. Cast on stitches for the sleeves at the end of each row in each side as follows: 3-3-3-2-2-2 stitches 6 times and 7-4-4-6-6-3 stitches 1 time = 135-136-143-142-149-150 stitches (including 1 edge stitch in each side) - NOTE: The new stitches are worked in to the pattern as you go. When all the stitches are cast on for the sleeves, work as follows from the right side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 (= 4 stitches) 0-1-1-0-0-1 time, A.2 in total 19-18-19-20-21-20 times in width, A.3 (= 4 stitches) 0-1-1-0-0-1 time and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Adjust so that you have worked the same rows of A.1 and A.3 as of A.2. Continue as follows. When the piece measures 63-65-67-69-71-73 cm / 24¾"-25½"-26⅜"-27⅛"-28"-28¾" bind off the middle 25-26-27-28-29-28 stitches for the neck and each shoulder is finished separately. On the next row from the neck bind off 1 stitch = 54-54-57-56-59-60 stitches left on the shoulder. When the piece measures 65-67-69-71-73-75 cm / 25½"-26⅜"-27⅛"-28"-28¾"-29½" work 1 ridge over all stitches, bind off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: Cast on and work as the back piece. When the piece measures 61-63-65-66-68-70 cm / 24"-24¾"-25½"-26"-26¾"-27½" bind off the middle 17-18-19-20-21-20 stitches for the neck and each shoulder is finished separately. Continue to bind off on each row from the neck as follows: bind off 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 1 time = 54-54-57-56-59-60 stitches left on the shoulder. When the piece measures 65-67-69-71-73-75 cm / 25½"-26⅜"-27⅛"-28"-28¾"-29½" work 1 ridge over all stitches, bind off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the under sleeve and side seams in one go, inside the 1 edge stitch down to the split (where the 3 stitches in garter stitch finish) = 40-41-42-43-44-45 cm / 15¾"-16⅛"-16½"-17"-17¼"-17¾" split. SLEEVE EDGE: The piece is worked in the round. Knit up 78-82-86-90-94-98 stitches around the armhole with a short circular needle size 5 mm / US 8. Purl 1 round where you decrease 6-6-6-6-6-6 stitches evenly along the round = 72-76-80-84-88-92 stitches. Knit 1 round. Continue by working rib (= knit 2 / purl 2). REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When the piece measures 10-10-10-10-10-10 cm / 4" bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl, bind off with yarn overs – READ BIND-OFF TIP. Work the other sleeve edge in the same way. NECK: The piece is worked in the round. Knit up 96-96-100-100-100-104 stitches around the neck with short circular needle size 5 mm / US 8. Purl 1 round where you decrease 8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches evenly along the round = 88-88-92-92-92-96 stitches. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) the whole round. When the piece measures 18-18-18-18-18-18 cm / 7"-7"-7"-7"-7"-7" bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl, bind off with yarn overs. |
