Gauge: 23 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm on larger needles in stockinette st. Pattern: See charts. The pattern is seen from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette st. Body: The cardigan is knit in the round after the band with steeks cut for center front and armholes. Cast on 195-219-243-267-291 sts on smaller circular needles with brown Alpaca. Knit 2 cm stockinette st then P 1 right side row (= folding edge). Measure the work from here. Change to larger circular needles; cast on 3 new sts, then join and place a marker at the join = 198-222-246-270-294 sts. The 3 new sts plus 1 edge st from each side of the piece when knit flat are the steek sts for center front. When the piece measures 9-10-11-12-13 cm knit Pattern 2 and then Pattern 3 over all sts except the 5 steek sts. At the same time when the piece measures 32-33-34-35-36 cm knit the next row as follows: 5 steek sts, 43-45-48-50-52 sts (for the front), bind off 10-18-24-32-40 sts for armhole, 87-91-97-101-105 sts (for the back), bind off 10-18-24-32-40 sts for armhole, 43-45-48-50-52 sts (for the front). On the next row cast on 5 new sts over the bound off armhole sts at each side for the steeks = 188-196-208-216-224 sts. Continue to knit Pattern 3 over all sts except the steek sts at center front and armholes. After Pattern 3 continue with brown Alpaca. Read the entire next section before knitting: Neck shaping (fronts): When the piece measures 45-47-49-51-53 cm bind off 19-19-19-21-21 sts (incl. 5 steek sts) at center front = 169-177-189-195-203 sts. Knit back and forth on needles. Now bind off at each neck edge every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 4 times = 147-155-167-173-181 sts remain. Pattern: At the same time when the piece measures 46-48-50-52-54 cm knit Pattern 4 - place the pattern so that each side will match, then knit the rest with brown Alpaca. Neck shaping (back): At the same time when the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58 cm bind off the center back 33-33-33-35-35 sts for the neck. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 2 times. Bind off the remaining 55-59-65-67-71 sts for each shoulder (incl. 5 armhole steek sts) when the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm. Sleeve: Cast on 48-48-56-56-64 sts on smaller double-pointed needles with green Silke-Tweed; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 2 rows garter st, change to larger double pointed needles. Read the entire next section before knitting: Knit Pattern 1, then Pattern 2, then continue with brown Alpaca. When the piece measures 9-9-8-8-8 cm inc 1 st each side of marker a total of 22-24-23-25-23 times: Size XS/S: every 6 rows. Sizes S/M and M/L: alternately every 5th and 6th row. Sizes XL and XXL: every 5 rows = 92-96-102-106-110 sts. At the same time when the piece measures 51 cm knit Pattern 4, then continue with brown Alpaca to finished measurements. At the same time when the piece measures 55-53-52-50-48 cm divide piece at marker and knit back and forth. When the piece measures 57 cm, knit reverse stockinette st for 1.5 cm (for seam allowance over cut steek edge), bind off all sts. Assembly: Sew a marker thread down into the center of the steek sts at center front and on each side. Sew two machine seams around the marker thread, first seam = 1/2 st from the marker thread, 2nd seam = 1/2 st from first seam. Cut for center front and armholes. Sew shoulder seams. Neckband: Pick up approx. 92 to 102 sts around the neck on smaller circular needles with brown Alpaca. Knit edge as follows (beginning with wrong side row): K 1 row, then 3 rows stockinette st and K 1 row (= folding edge), 3 rows stockinette st (facing), bind off. Fold edge double to wrong side and stitch in place. Left button band: Pick up approx. 110 to 130 sts along left front on smaller circular needles with brown Alpaca and knit edge the same as neckband. Right button band: Pick up and knit the same as left. Then crochet 8 buttonhole loops on folding edge with brown Alpaca as follows (start at the top): 2 sc, ch 3, skip over 2 sts and fasten with 1 sc, * sc for approx. 5-5-5.5-5.5-6 cm, ch 3, skip over 2 sts and fasten with 1 sc in the next st *, repeat from * - * a total of 7 times. Turn the work, crochet 3 sc in every buttonhole loop and sl st between buttonhole loops. Crocheted edge: Crochet around cast-on edges of sleeves with light green Tynn Chenille as follows: 1st row: 1 sc in 1st st, * ch 3, skip over 1 st, 1 sc in the next st *, repeat from * - *. 2nd row: turn the work, sl st to middle of first ch-loop, * ch 3, 1 sc in 1st ch (= 1 picot), 1 sc in the next ch-loop from previous row * , repeat from * - *, cut yarn and fasten. Assembly: Sew in sleeves, lay seam allowance on sleeve cap over cut edge on Body and stitch down. Fold hem at lower edge of Body to wrong side and stitch in place. Sew on buttons. |
