---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH: Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. BAND WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 and work 5 stitches in garter stitch. END OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 7 stitches): Work until 7 stitches remain on row, work 5 stitches in garter stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Continue like this from both right side and wrong side. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from right side when 5 stitches remain on row as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work band as before and knit yarn over to make a buttonhole. Decrease for first buttonhole on first row from right side after neck edge has been worked. Then decrease the next 6-6-6-7-7-7-7 buttonholes, approx. 6½-7-7½-6½-6½-7-7 cm = 2½"-2¾"-2⅞"-2½"-2½"-2¾"-2¾" apart. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.7. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next row purl yarn over from wrong side - over to make holes. Work the new stitches in stockinette stitch on front pieces/back piece and in lace pattern on sleeves. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 109-115-117-123-131-133-139 stitches on circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 with DROPS Muskat. Work first row as follows from wrong side: Work 7 stitches BAND WITH I-CORD - read explanation above, work rib (= purl 1 / knit 1) until 8 stitches remain on row, purl 1 and 7 stitches band with I-cord. Continue with rib like this for 2-2-2½-2½-3-3-3 cm = ¾"-¾"-1"-1"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛", and finish with a row from wrong side. Turn piece. Insert 1 marker on the inside of band in one side of piece (= mid front), measure piece from this marker. YOKE: Insert 4 markers in piece without working the stitches, insert markers in a knit stitch from rib (seen from right side), these stitches are called raglan stitches and increase is done for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Work raglan stitches in stockinette stitch (knit from right side and purl from wrong side). Count 19-21-21-23-25-25-27 stitches (= left front piece), insert 1st marker in next stitch, count 21 stitches (= sleeve), insert 2nd marker in next stitch, count 25-27-29-31-35-37-39 stitches (= back piece), insert 3rd marker in next stitch, count 21 stitches (= sleeve), insert 4th marker in next stitch. 19-21-21-23-25-25-27 stitches remain on row for right front piece. Continue with circular needle size 4 MM = US 6, work back and forth with bands as before, stockinette stitch on front pieces/back piece and pattern A.1, A.2 and A.3 on sleeves while AT THE SAME TIME increasing for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches – read explanation above for increase method. Decrease for BUTTONHOLES - read explanation above. Increase for raglan on every other row (i.e. every row from right side), increase on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased per increase row). When diagrams have worked 1 time vertically, there is room for 1 more repetition of A.2 between A.1 and A.3 on each sleeve. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! Continue increase for raglan until 16-20-20-24-28-28-32 increases have been done in total (diagrams have been worked 4-5-5-6-7-7-8 times in total vertically) = 237-275-277-315-355-357-395 stitches. Stitches are distributed as follows: 53-61-61-69-77-77-85 stitches on each sleeve, 36-42-42-48-54-54-60 stitches on each front piece and 59-69-71-81-93-95-105 stitches on back piece (raglan stitches are counted on front pieces/back piece). Increases on sleeves are done in all sizes, continue increases on front pieces and back piece and work pattern on sleeves as follows: Work band as before, stockinette stitch over front piece, increase for raglan before raglan stitch and work raglan stitch in stockinette stitch, A.4 over 7 stitches, A.2 over the next 40-48-48-56-64-64-72 stitches (= 5-6-6-7-8-8-9 times in width), A.5 over 6 stitches, work raglan stitch in stockinette stitch, increase for raglan after raglan stitch, work stockinette stitch over back piece, increase for raglan before raglan stitch and work raglan stitch in stockinette stitch, work A.4 over 7 stitches, A.2 over the next 40-48-48-56-64-64-72 stitches (= 5-6-6-7-8-8-9 times in width), work raglan stitch in stockinette stitch, increase for raglan after raglan stitch, work stockinette stitch over front piece and work band as before (= 4 stitches increased per increase row). Increase for raglan like this every other row until 7-6-8-6-5-9-9 more increases have been done (= 23-26-28-30-33-37-41 in total on front pieces/back piece. There are 265-299-309-339-375-393-431 stitches on needle. Stitches are distributed as follows: 53-61-61-69-77-77-85 stitches on each sleeve, 43-48-50-54-59-63-69 stitches on each front piece and 73-81-87-93-103-113-123 stitches on back piece (raglan stitches are counted on front pieces/back piece). When increases are done, the piece should measure approx. 16-18-20-21-23-26-29 cm = 6¼"-7"-8"-8¼"-9"-10¼"-11⅜". Work in stockinette stitch and pattern without increase until piece measures 19-19-20-21-24-26-29 cm = 7½"-7½"-8"-8¼"-9½"-10¼"-11⅜" from marker mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. Make a note of which row in the diagrams was the last row on sleeves; it will make it easier to work the sleeve later. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing piece for body and sleeves the raglan stitches will be placed somewhat in on front piece/back piece, i.e. AT THE SAME TIME as next row is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work band as before, work 36-41-43-47-52-56-62 stitches in stockinette stitch (= front piece), slip the next 53-61-61-69-77-77-85 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-12-14-16-18 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 73-81-87-93-103-113-123 stitches in stockinette stitch (= back piece), slip the next 53-61-61-69-77-77-85 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-12-14-16-18 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work the next 36-41-43-47-52-56-62 stitches in stockinette stitch and finish with band as before (= front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 175-193-207-225-249-271-297 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in each side of body, in the middle of the 8-8-10-12-14-16-18 stitches cast on under each sleeve and move the marker threads upwards when working. Work back and forth from mid front as follows: Work band as before, work stockinette stitch until 3 stitches remain before first marker thread, work A.6, work stockinette stitch until 3 stitches remain before marker thread mid under the other sleeve, work A.6, work stockinette stitch until 7 stitches remain and work band as before. Continue back and forth like this, when piece measures approx. 3 cm = 1⅛" from division work A.7 over A.6 (= 2 stitches increased in each side). Then continue with A.6 and repeat A.7 (= increase) approx. every 3rd-3rd-3rd-4th-4th-4th-4th-4th time diagram is worked vertically until A.7 has been worked 4 times in total in each side = 191-209-223-241-265-287-313 stitches. Work in stockinette stitch, A.6 and bands as before until piece measures 40-43-45-47-48-50-52 cm = 15¾"-17"-17¾"-18½"-19"-19¾"-20½" from marker mid front. On next row from right side begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 16-16-22-22-26-26-28 stitches evenly on 1st row = 207-225-245-263-291-313-341 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5, work band as before, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1 - remember increase) until 7 stitches remain, knit 1 and band as before. When rib measures 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 cm = ¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛", bind off all stitches somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jacket measures 42-45-47-49-51-53-55 cm = 16½"-17¾"-18½"-19¼"-20"-21"-21⅝" from marker mid front and approx. 47-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 18½"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 53-61-61-69-77-77-85 sleeve stitches from one thread on to needle size 4 MM = US 6 and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-12-14-16-18 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 61-69-71-81-91-93-103 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-8-10-12-14-16-18 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. NOTE! Make sure to begin the pattern on correct row when continuing. Work 4-4-5-6-7-8-9 stitches in stockinette stitch, A.4 over 7 stitches, A.2 over the next 40-48-48-56-64-64-72 stitches (= 5-6-6-7-8-8-9 times in width), A.5 over 6 stitches and work 4-4-5-6-7-8-9 stitches in stockinette stitch - AT THE SAME TIME when 1 round has been worked after division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 1-3-2-2-3-1-2 times on every other round = 59-63-67-77-85-91-99 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 19-19-19-18-14-13-10 cm = 7½"-7½"-7½"-7"-5½"-5⅛"-4" from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 5-5-7-7-7-9-9 stitches evenly on 1st round = 64-68-74-84-92-100-108 stitches. When rib measures 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 cm = ¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛", bind off all stitches somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 21-21-21-20-17-16-13 cm = 8¼"-8¼"-8¼"-8"-6¾"-6¼"-5⅛" from division. ASSEMBLY: Sew buttons on to left front piece. |
