Bon tricot!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------ PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. DECREASE TIP (for neck and armholes): All decreases are worked from the right side! DECREASE 2 STITCHES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE ROW: Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, knit 1, work A.1 over the next 3 stitches. DECREASE 2 STITCHES AT THE END OF THE ROW: Work until there are 5 stitches left on the row, work A.1 over the next 3 stitches, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. DECREASE 1 STITCH AT THE BEGINNING OF THE ROW: Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, knit 1, work A.2 over the next 3 stitches. DECREASE 1 STITCH AT THE END OF THE ROW: Work until there are 5 stitches left on the row, work A.3 over the next 3 stitches, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. INCREASE TIP (for sleeves): Knit 1 stitch past the marker, make 1 yarn over, knit until there is 1 stitch left before the marker, 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle, bottom up as far as the armholes. The piece is then divided and the front and back pieces finished separately, back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle as far as the sleeve cap, then finished back and forth. The neck is worked to finish. BODY: Cast on 188-204-220-236-260-276 stitches with circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and 1 strand DROPS Soft Tweed and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk. Knit 1 round, then work rib (knit 2, purl 2) over all stitches for 4 cm = 1½". Knit 1 round and decrease 28-32-36-36-44-44 stitches evenly spaced = 160-172-184-200-216-232 stitches. Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8. Work stockinette stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 23 cm = 9" work the pockets. POCKETS: 2 pockets are now worked on the front piece on the next round. The pockets are worked double and sewn together to finish. Knit 4-4-6-7-7-7 and place these stitches on a thread/extra needle, knit 27-29-29-31-33-35, turn. Work stockinette stitch over the 27-29-29-31-33-35 pocket-stitches and cast on 1 stitch at the end of the first 2 rows = 29-31-31-33-35-37 stitches. The new stitches are worked in GARTER STITCH – read description above. When the pocket measures 36 cm = 14¼" (measure from the stitches on the thread), work it together with the sweater on the next row from the right side as follows: Knit both the edge stitches together with the stitches before/after the pocket, knit the next 18-20-22-24-28-32 stitches on the front piece, knit 27-29-29-31-33-35 stitches, turn and work the second pocket in the same way as the first. When the pocket is finished, knit the remaining 84-90-98-107-115-123 stitches. Place the stitches from the thread/extra needle back on the circular needle. Continue with stockinette stitch in the round. When the piece measures 47-48-49-50-51-52 cm = 18½"-19"-19¼"-19¾"-20"-20½", bind off for the armholes as follows: Knit 78-83-88-96-104-111, bind off 4-6-8-8-8-10 stitches, knit 76-80-84-92-100-106 and bind off 4-6-8-8-8-10 stitches (i.e. the last 2-3-4-4-4-5 and the first 2-3-4-4-4-5 stitches on the next round = 76-80-84-92-100-106 stitches on each piece. The back and front are finished separately. FRONT PIECE: Work stockinette stitch back and forth, with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side and decrease for the armholes as follows: On the next row from the right side decrease 1-1-1-2-2-2 stitches on each side – read DECREASE TIP, then 1 stitch on each side every 4th row 0-0-0-1-3-3 times = 74-78-82-86-90-96 stitches. When the piece measures 58-59-60-62-62-64 cm = 22¾"-23¼"-23⅝"-24⅜"-24⅜"-25¼", place the middle 26-26-24-24-26-26 stitches on a thread for the neck and finish each shoulder separately (24-26-29-31-32-35 stitches on each shoulder). On the next row from the right side decrease 2 stitches for the neck – remember DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 4th row a total of 2-2-3-3-3-3 times = 20-22-23-25-26-29 stitches. Work until the piece measures 66-68-70-72-74-76 cm = 26"-26¾"-27½"-28⅜"-29⅛"-29½". Bind off with knit from the right side. Work the other shoulder in the same way. BACK PIECE: Work stockinette stitch back and forth, with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side and decrease for the armholes in the same way as for the front = 74-78-82-86-90-96 stitches. When the piece measures 63-65-67-68-70-72 cm = 24¾"-25½"-26⅜"-26¾"-27½"-28⅜", bind off the middle 32-32-34-34-36-36 stitches for the neck and finish each shoulder separately (21-23-24-26-27-30 stitches on each shoulder). On the next row from the neck bind off 1 for neck = 20-22-23-25-26-29 stitches. Work until the piece measures 66-68-70-72-74-76 cm = 26"-26¾"-27½"-28⅜"-29⅛"-29½". Bind off with knit from the right side. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 44-44-48-48-52-52 stitches with double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6 and 1 strand of each quality (2 strands). Knit 1 round, then work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 5 cm = 2". Knit 1 round where you decrease 6-4-6-4-6-6 stitches evenly spaced = 38-40-42-44-46-46 stitches. Insert a marker at the beginning of the round (mid-under sleeve). Allow the marker to follow your work onwards – it is used when increasing under the sleeve. Change to double pointed needles size 5 MM = US 8 and work stockinette stitch. When the sleeve measures 9-10-8-10-8-10 cm = 3½"-4"-3⅛"-4"-3⅛"-4", increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 3½-3-3-2½-2½-2 cm = 1¼"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1"-1"-¾" a total of 11-12-13-13-14-15 times = 60-64-68-70-74-76 stitches. When the sleeve measures 46-46-46-43-42-42 cm = 18"-18"-18"-17"-16½"-16½", work as follows: Start 2-3-4-4-4-5 stitches before the marker, bind off 4-6-8-8-8-10 stitches and work to the end of the round = 56-58-60-62-66-66 stitches. Start from the wrong side and work the sleeve cap in stockinette stitch, back and forth, binding off stitches at the beginning of each row as follows: 9-9-10-5-4-4 stitches 2-2-2-5-6-6 times on each side = 20-22-20-12-18-18 stitches. Bind off. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams inside the bind-off edge. Sew in the sleeves, inside the 1 edge stitch on the armholes. Sew together the sides of the pockets. NECK: With circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and 1 strand of each quality, knit up 84 to 116 stitches from the right side (including the stitches from the thread in front). The number of stitches must be divisible by 4. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 5 cm = 2". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. |
