How to cast off with i-cord loops

In this DROPS video we show you how to cast off a work with i-cord loops. When casting off, * work an i-cord of approx. 6 cm (see explanation for i-cord below), knit the stitches from the i-cord along with the next 3 stitches on the swap *, repeat * - * entire row, cast off the 3 last stitches as a usually cast off. We have chosen a 3 stitches i-cord string approx. 6 cm, but this one can you fine change as desired. I-cord cord: * Knit one row on double pointed needles. Slide row to other end of needle. How to cast off with a picot edge

In this DROPS video we show you have to cast off with a picot edge. In the video we knit like this: K 1, (* insert right needle in between the first 2 sts on left needle (i.e. between sts on needle, not through sts), make 1 YO on right needle, pull YO forwards between sts and slip YO on left needle *, repeat from *-* 2 more times (= 3 new sts on left needle). ** K first st on left needle, pass first st on right needle over last st worked **), repeat from **-** 5 times in total and repeat from (-) along the entire row until 1 st remains. How to cast off with a picot edge on a rib

In this DROPS video we show how to cast off with a picot on a rib. Knit 1, * insert right needle between the next 2 stitches (not through the stitches), make 1 yarn over, pull the yarn over between the stitches and place on left needle *, work from *-* 2 more times (= 3 yarn overs on left needle), knit and cast off 7 stitches (= 1 stitch + 3 yarn overs + 3 stitches). Work from *-* and cast off 7 stitches in the same way along the whole edge. When there are not enough stitches to work another picot, cast off the remaining stitches as usual. How to cast off with picot

We have already worked a rib ((knit 1 twisted/purl 1) and start the video with casting off like this: Knit 1 twisted, * insert right needle between the first 2 stitches on left needle, make 1 yarn over on right needle, pull yarn over forward between the stitches and slip yarn over on to left needle *, work from *-* 2 times in total, knit and cast off at the same time off 5 stitches (= 1st stitch on right needle + 2 yarn overs+ 2 stitches). In this DROPS video we show how to work a round cast-off edge, knitting up stitches from the right side. We pick up stitches from 2 knitted rounds below the next stitch on the needle as follows: Pick up a stitch in the first loop from the right side and place this onto the left needle. How to bind off a pointed edge

In this DROPS video we show how to bind off a pointed edge. When you bind off or cast off at an edge where you have inc to make a pointed edge e.g a poncho, you should keep on inc even on the bind off row, otherwise the edge might roll. How to bind off loosely with a crochet hook

In this DROPS video we show how you can bind off loosely using a crochet hook. This makes an elastic edge on your knitted piece. Bind off as follows: Slip crochet hook through the first st and pull thread through (leave st on needle), make 1 YO and pull through loop on hook, slip crochet hook through the same st again, pull thread through st and through loop on hook, let the st off the needle, slip crochet hook through next st (leave st on needle), pull thread through st and through loop on hook, slip crochet hook through the same st again, pull thread through st and through loop on hook = 2 sl sts in st, let st off the needle. How to get an elastic edge when binding off / casting off

How to bind off with 3 needles

In this DROPS video we show you how to bind off 2 pieces at the same time with using 3 needles. Put the 2 pieces right side against right side. Hold the needles parallel and put a third needle into the first stitch on each of the two parallel needles. Knit the first two stitches on the left side as usually = 2 stitches on the right needle. Take the 1st stitch on right needle over the 2nd stitch on the right needle. Then knit the next stitches on the parallel stitches together and continue as you normally would when binding off until one stitch remains on the right needle. How to cast off loosely in English rib

In this DROPS video we show how to cast off in English rib where we also cast off the yarn overs as normal stitches (i.e. 1 stitch + 1 stitch + 1 yarn over will be 3 stitches when casting off). How to cast off English rib

When you cast off in English rib, keep knitting in pattern to make the edge elastic. cast off with K over K and P over P (first and last stitch in video are edge sts that we cast off as K sts). How to show a puff sleeve flap and assembly

In this DROPS video we show how to cast off stitches for the "flap" to a puff sleeve. We only work ½ the part of a yoke and we start the video by showing how we cast off stitches on top of the middle of the shoulder which is to become a «flap». Then we show how to cast on new stitches "under" the flap. We also put some markers in the work where it is to be increased later (read in the pattern how to increase it). When the body and sleeves have finished, baste a strand up and down through cast-on edge at the top on sleeve. Wrinkle the sleeve cap so that it fits in a straight line to the opening where stitches were cast off on shoulder. In the video, we fold in the cast on edge a bit and fasten it with needles before sewing it in a straight line on the top of the sleeve. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in video. How to do a two color bind off in double knitting

In this DROPS video we show how to do a two colour bind off in double knitting. To best match the two color cast on, you want to work a bind off like this on your finished double knitted project. Holding the 2 strands together, knit first 2 sts together, *k2tog through the back loops, then slip the 2nd st on right needle over 1st. Repeat from * across, after last stitch has been slipped over, cut yarn and pull through. Weave in ends.

How to make an invisible bind off with double knitting

In this DROPS video we show how to make an invisible bind off when using double knitting. To match the invisible cast on you will have to make a kitchener stitching at the end of your work. Separate the stitches in the front and back onto two separate needles. Cut yarn and make one tail long enough for stitching, i.e about 3 times the width of your work. Put the long strand on the darning needle and the other strand will be weaved in later. We have a separate Drops Video for Kitchener Stitch, but this is how you do it: Stick darning needle purl wise into 1st st on 1st needle and pull through without dropping st off needle. How to increase 1 stitch symmetrical

In this DROPS video we show a way to make a symmetrical increase that gives 1 new stitch, we show it twice on the same row. Follow steps 1-4 below: 1. Loosely slip the first stitch on the left needle onto the right needle as if to purl. Hold the knitting yarn behind the work. 2. Insert the left needle behind the slipped stitch and between the slipped stitch and the first stitch on the right needle. 3. Make a yarn over on the right needle and pull the yarn over through the stitch to make 1 new stitch on the right needle. 4. Drop the outermost part of the stitch off the left needle and then knit the second strand of the stitch through the front loop. You have now increased 1 stitch We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. This technique can be used in several patterns.

How to increase stitches in a cable

In this DROPS video we show to increase stitches in the cable stitches, like the raglan increases is done in the “White Heron” jumper in DROPS 254-7. In the video we work 7 stitches (2 garter stitches + knit 1 + purl 2 + knit 2), before A.1 (cable), then knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), A.2 and finish the row with 7 stitches (knit 2 + purl 2 + knit 1 + 2 garter stitches). Work A.1 like this: Place 4 stitches on cable needle behind the piece, knit 2, work 3 stitches in each of the 4 stitches on cable needle (work front, back, front loop of each stitch). 8 increased stitches. Work A.2 like this: Place 2 stitches on cable needle in front of piece, work 3 stitches in each of the next 4 stitches (work front, back, front loop of each stitch), knit 2 from cable needle. 8 increased stitches.
