How to knit a cable without cable needle

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a cable over 2 sts without using a cable needle. This video shows first cable leaning to the right, next cable leaning to the left. Cable leaning to the right: Knit 2nd stitch on left needle at the same time as 1st stitch is still on needle. Then knit 1st st and lift both sts off left needle. Cable leaning to the left: Knit 2nd stitch in back loop on left needle at the same time as 1st stitch is still on needle. Then knit 1st st as normal and lift both sts off left needle. How to knit a cable over 2 stitches

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a "spin" cabel over 2 stitches. We knit two cables consecutively with 2 purl stitches between and 2 purl stitches on each side of the cabels. Cable: Round 1: K 2nd st, but keep it on the needle, K 1st st and slip both sts off needle off the left needle. Round 2: 2. K over the cabel stitches Repeat 1st and 2nd round. How to knit a cable over 4 sts without a cable needle

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a cable over 4 stitches without using a cable needle. We show both a cable to the right and to the left in this video. Cable turning right: yarn in front of work, slip 2 sts onto right needle, yarn to back of work, K2, from behind pick up the 2 slipped sts on left needle, drop the first 2 sts on right needle + 2 slipped sts and then put the first two sts back on right needle again, yarn to back of work and K2. Cable turning left: slip 2 sts, K2, from front pick up the 2 slipped sts on left needle, drop the first 2 sts on right needle + 2 slipped sts and then put the first two sts back on right needle again, K2. How to knit a small simple cable without using a cable needle (mock cable)

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit a small simple cable/lace pattern without using a cable needle (mock cable). The pattern is knitted over 2 and 3 stitches in the width and 1 repeat in hight is 4 rows. In this video we purl around the pattern with 1 edge st at each side. How to work a special cable without cable needle

In this DROPS video we show how we work a cable a little bit out of the ordinary. Cast on a number of stitches multiple by 9+2 + 2 (= 1 edge stitch on each side). We have cast on 18+2 +2 (=1 edge stitch in each side). Knit the edge stitches in each row. ROW 1 (right side): Knit 1 edge stitch, * purl 2, knit 2, knit 3 in next stitch, knit 1, knit 3 in next stitch, knit 2 *, repeat * - * 1 more time, purl 2 and knit 1 edge stitch. ROW 2 (wrong side): Knit 1 edge stitch, * knit 2, purl 2, put the thread in front of the work and lift the 7 next stitches to the right needle, purl 2 *, repeat * - * 1 more time, knit 2 and knit 1 edge stitch. ROW 3: Knit 1 edge stitch, * purl 2, slip the 2 next stitches of the left needle (put them back), put the 3 next stitches on the right needle, put the 2 loose stitches back on the left needle, put the 3 stitch on the right needle back to the left needle and knit these twisted together, knit 3, slip the next 3 stitch from the left needle (put them in front), put the next 2 stitch on the right needle, put the 3 loose stitches back on the left needle, put the 2 stitches on right needle back to left needle, knit 2, knit 3 twisted together *, repeat * - * 1 more time, purl 2 and knit 1 edge stitch. How to knit a cable with a cable needle

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a cable with a cable needle. When you make cables you switch positions of the stitches. The more stitches that are moved the wider cable. In the video we make a cable turning to the left, by putting the stitches to be moved on a cable needle in front of work. Next cable turn to the right and then the stitches are put on a cable needle behind the work. The stitches on each side of the cable are being purled on the RS and knit on WS. How to knit a simple lace / cable pattern

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a pretty little lace /cable pattern, which we have used in several of our designs. We knit over the first 15 sts on right front piece, and we knit 1 repeat of the chart in height. Row 1, RS: K 5 (= edge sts in garter st), K1, P3, diagram A.1 (= K1 , 1 yo, K1), P 3 and K1 Row 2, WS: P1, K3, A.1 (= P 3), K3, P1 and K 5 edge sts. Row 3: K 5, K1, P3, A.1 (=K 3, pass first st worked over the other 2 so that this st is around the last 2 sts on right needle) Row 4: P 1, K3, A.1 (= P2), K3, P1 and K 5. How to knit a honey comb pattern

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a honey comb pattern. This Honey comb pattern is knitted with the help of a cable needle and following a chart (1 edge st each side K on every row): We already have knitted 1 repetition of the chart plus the first 2 rows of next repetition. Now we are starting from 3rd row down in right corner on the chart like this: 3rd row (RS): K1 edge st, slip 2 sts on cable needle behind piece, K2, K2 from cable needle. Then slip 2 sts on cable needle in front of piece, K2, K2 from cable needle, K1 edge st. 4th row (WS): K1 edge st, P across, K1 edge st 5th row (RS): K1 edge st, K across, K1 edge st 6th row (WS): as 4th row. 7th row (RS): K1 edge st, slip 2 sts on cable needle in front of piece, K2, K2 from cable needle. Then slip 2 sts on cable needle behind piece, K2, K2 from cable needle, K1 edge st 8th row (WS): as 4th row. Now 2 full vertical repeats are knitted of this pretty honey comb pattern. How to knit rib stitch cable

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a cable with rib (K2, P2 and P1 in each side) over 16 stitches. We have already knit a piece with K2 and P3 in each side = sample has 26 stitches. Row 1 in video: Right Side: K2, P3. Now start the cable: Slip 8 sts on cable needle in front of piece, P1, K2, P2, K2 and P1, then P1, K2, P2, K2 and P1 from cable needle, finish with P3, K2, turn. Wrong Side: K2, K over K and P over P, finish with K2, turn. Right Side: K2, P3, K over K and P over P and finish with K2, turn. Continue like this and knit the cable in every 16th row (from RS). How to knit a cable knot

In this DROPS video we show how we knit a cable knot. We have already cast on 27 stitches with DROPS Snow and knitted 2 rows. Measure the piece from here. K1, P5, K5, P5, K5, P5 and K1. Then work K over K, P over P and K the edge stitches until piece measures approx 8 cm, work next row from RS. Now we start with the "cable knot". Put 6 stitches on the right needle. * Use the other thread end in the skein, K 5, turn, P5, turn and continue with stockinette stitch until the piece measure for approx. 6 cm, cut the thread and put the stitches on a thread / stitch marker *. Put the 5 next stitches on the right needle. Work the next 5 stitches the same way as explain between * - *. Put the 11 stitches on the right needle back on the left needle. Make a knot with the "2 cable stitches". K1, P5, put the next 5 stitches from the thread / stitch marker on the left needle and K these, P5 stitches, put the 5 next stitches from the thread / stitch marker on the left needle and K these stitches, P5 and K1. Continue with K over K, P over P and K the edge stitches until piece measures approx 8 cm and knit a new "cable-knot".

How to work several cables after a chart

In this DROPS video we show how to work several cables after chart M.1 to the dog coat in DROPS 102-43. We work 3 garter stitches in each side and we have already worked 17 rows of the chart so you can see the cables better. We start the by working the 18th row. On this row the cables are worked like this: Put 3 stitches on cable needle behind the work, knit 3, knit 3 from cable needle. On row 20 and 22 work 1st and 3rd cables like this: Put 1 stitch on a cable needle behind the work, knit 3, purl 1 from the cable needle. And 2nd and 4th cables are worked like this: Put 3 stitches on a cable needle in front of work, purl 1, knit 3 from cable needle This dog coat is worked in DROPS Karisma, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. How to work a large loose cable

How work cables loop

How to work an easy textured pattern.

In this DROPS video we show how to work an easy beautiful textured pattern with 6 rows that repeats. We have already casted on 28 stitches with 3 ridge/garter stitches (= knit in each row) in each side and worked 1 row in ridge/garter stitch (= knit 2 rows). Row 1: Knit 3 (=ridge/garter stitch), * purl 2, knit 3 *, repeat *-* and finish with purl 2, knit 3 (ridge/garter stitch). Row 2: Knit 3, now knit above knit, purl above purl, finish with knit 3. Row 3: Knit like row 1. Row 4: Knit like row 2. Row 5: Knit 3, * purl 2, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over stitches worked, yarn over *, repeat *-* until 5 stitches left, purl 2, knit 3. How to knit a cable pattern

How to knit a braided edge

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit a braided edge. A braided edge is worked best in the round. We first cast on an even number of stitches with 2 different colors. And then we remove the loop from the beginning of the needle and place a marker before we knit the first round. We knit the colors alternately. The next two rounds are purled and remember to work the stitches in the same color as the round below. When you purl the first round put your working yarn to the right up and over the needle, and when you purl the second round put the working yarn down to the left.

How to knit a Latvian braid

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a Latvian braid. We have already knitted 1 latvian braid in the video. You knit a Latvian braid as follows: Braid consists of 3 rounds , worked as follows (color 1 = green, color 2 = old pink ): ROUND 1: * K 1 with color 1, K 1 with color 2 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. ROUND 2: Place both strands in the front of piece (towards you). Then move color 1 strand to the back, P 1 and move the strand to the front again. Pull color 2 strand underneath color 1 strand and then move color 2 to the back, P 1 and move the strand to the front again. Continue like this with P alternately with color 1 and color 2 but always place the strand underneath the strand from the last st worked. ROUND 3: Work as 2nd round but now place strand always OVER strand from the last st worked. You must read the pattern to be able to follow this video properly. How to knit a horizontal solid coloured braid

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a horizontal solid coloured braid (aka Lateral braid or Estonian Vikkel braid). Knitting a horizontal braid creates a line of horizontally-aligned knit stitches. You can do single or multicolored Vikkel braid. Start by casting on a new stitch before the first stitch. *Knit into the back of the 2nd stitch. Then knit into the 1st stitch. Drop both stitches off the left needle. Slip the first stitch on right needle back onto the left needle*. Repeat *-* until last st on row. K last st, and pass next to last st over.
