How to work knit 2, purl 2 (back and forth) – UK / US knitting style
In this DROPS video we show you how to work knit 2, purl 2, back and forth using the UK / US knitting style. This textured pattern is called rib/ribbing and is one of many varieties.
BEFORE THE VIDEO STARTS:
The ribbed pattern is divisible by 4. So that the pattern is symmetrical on both sides, we have cast on a stitch count which is divisible by 4 + 2 and, in addition, we have worked 1 edge stitch on each side (the edge stitches are worked in garter stitch = knitted on all rows). We have already worked a few centimeters of the ribbed pattern.
THE VIDEO SHOWS:
ROW 1: Knit 2, purl 2, repeated along the row with 1 edge stitch on each side.
ROW 2: The stitches are worked in the same way as those below = knit above knit and purl above purl, with 1 edge stitch on each side.
Repeat ROW 2 onward.
