We respect your privacy. You can browse our site and access our patterns without sharing personal information. You only provide limited details when you choose to interact with us.

What we collect and how it’s used

Comments on patterns, yarns, videos, lessons, CAL clues

  • What we collect: Name, country and any other voluntary details. Email only if you want reply notifications.
  • How it’s used: Your name and comment appear publicly. Emails used for notifications are never shown and are deleted automatically after the notification is sent. If you don’t want your name to be visible, consider writing a nickname in the form.

#dropsfan gallery submissions

  • What we collect: Name, country, email and any voluntary details you include.
  • How it’s used: We publish your submitted content with the name or link you provide. If you don’t want your name to be visible, consider writing a nickname in the form.

Voting on new collections

  • What we collect: Name, country, age group, comment and IP address (to ensure each person can only vote once).
  • How it’s used: Your feedback is stored internally for our designers and is never displayed publicly. All other voting information is deleted once the vote is reset.

Comments on individual collection designs

  • What we collect: Name, country and comment.
  • How it’s used: While voting is open, your comment appears publicly in that design’s comment section. Starting in 2025, these comments are deleted once voting closes.

Additionally, IP addresses are collected for every comment left on our site and stored in a moderation table that allows us to block spammers. This table is cleared every 3 months.

Banned IPs remain stored on our servers for spam control, but without any other identifying information.

Favourites system

  • What we collect: Email address. A cookie is also stored in your browser.
  • How it’s used: Your email links your favourite patterns. We do not contact you using this email. Your favourites and email are stored for up to one year after your last use.

We will never sell your information to third parties. We do not use any email you provide to send newsletters or promotional messages unless you explicitly sign up for them (such as through our Newsletter page or the question reply notification option).

Traffic/user measurement

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website so we can improve our content and services. These tools collect general information such as which pages are visited, how long visitors stay and what type of device or browser is used. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally. We do not use analytics to track individual users or to collect sensitive personal information. Bot and abuse protection

We use automated security tools to protect our website from spam, fraud, and other abusive activity. These tools may look at things like your device, browser, IP address, and how you interact with the page to check that the activity is legitimate. We use third‑party providers for these security checks, they process this information on our behalf only for the purpose of providing the protection service.

Email newsletter

We use Mailchimp to manage and send our email newsletters. When you sign up, the information you provide (such as your name and email address) is stored and processed by Mailchimp on our behalf. This information is used only to send you the emails you subscribed to and to help us understand how our newsletters are performing. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time by clicking the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our newsletters.
