How to knit dropped stitches

In this DROPS video we show how to knit dropped stitches. Cast on and K one row, then repeat row 1-4 below: 1st row (= right side): * K 1, 2 YO (yarn overs) *, repeat from *-* across and finish with K 1. 2nd row (= wrong side): K all sts across while letting the YOs from previous row drop off the needle (= long sts). 3rd + 4th row: K all sts across. How to knit dropped stitches aka elongated sts in different lengths

Patterns with dropped stitches/elongated stitches with different lengths are very popular. In this DROPS video we show how to knit a dropped stitch with 1 yo and then with 2 yo's to get different lengths on the dropped sts. We have already knitted 1 repeat of each to clearly show the difference: row 1 is worked alternately K1, 1 YO across. row 2; K1, slip yo off needle, repeat across. row 3: worked alternately K1, 2 YO's across. row 4: K1, slip both yo's off needle, repeat across. Now it's clearly showing how long the sts will be first with 1 yo, and then with 2 yo's. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. How to knit single loop knitting

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit single loop knitting. Use this fun technique to make a loop scarf, loop cuffs, loop collar or why not a loopy bag? Single loops knitted back and forth on needles: The loops are made on the WS rows of the piece and ends up on the RS. 1st row (RS): Knit all sts 2nd row (WS): K1, * make a loop as follows: Twist the yarn over and around the left index finger as shown in video. Knit the next st by pulling both 2 threads on the left index finger through the st and leave the stitch on the left needle. K 1 st in the back of the same st (= 1 twisted st). There are now 2 loop sts + 1 twisted st on the right needle. Lift the 2 back sts over the first st = 1 loop st *, repeat from *-* and end with a K edge st. Repeat the 2 rows. How to knit a mussel pattern

In this DROPS video we show how to knit the mussel pattern for the jacket in DROPS 129-31. Cast on a number of sts that can be divided by 6+3. K1 edge st each side on every row. ROW 1 (= RS): K all sts. ROW 2 (= WS): * P 1, (P 1, 3 loose YO), repeat from (-) a total of 5 times *, repeat from *-* and finish with P 1. ROW 3: K 1, * (slip 3 YO off needle, slip next st as if to K), repeat from (-) a total of 5 times, slip the 5 slipped sts over to left needle and then work into them as follows (without slipping them off the needle): K 5 tog, 3 loose YO, P 5 tog, 3 loose YO, K 5 tog, 3 loose YO, P 5 tog, 3 loose YO, K 5 tog, 3 loose YO, then K 1 into next stitch *, repeat from *-*. ROW 4: * P 1, (slip 3 YO off needle, K 1), repeat from (-) a total of 5 times *, repeat from *-* and finish with P 1. This jacket is made in DROPS Bomull-Lin, on the video we knit with DROPS Snow. How to knit Indian cross stitches

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit Indian cross stitches. For this sample we cast on 32 sts (divisible by 8). We have already knit 1 rapport (1-12 row) and row 1-4 for the second time. In the video we start at row 5 for the second time. Row 1-4: K all sts. Row 5: K 1, * K next st but wrap yarn 4 times around the needle before pulling through (3 of 4 yo's will be dropped on next row). Continue like this in each st across, K last st on row. Turn *. Row 6: Slip 1st st to right needle. Slip 1 yo and drop 3 yo's in each of the next 7 sts = 8 long sts on right needle, pull and stretch sts to make them evenly long. Slip the first 4 of the 8 sts over the last 4 sts and onto the left needle, then slip the last 4 sts on right needle onto left needle (= 8 loose sts on left needle crossing each other). Make sure they are lined up in the right order. Now K these 8 sts. Continue like this crossing the next 8 sts, and the next 8 and so on across. Row 7-10: K all sts Row 11: As row 5. Row 12: Slip 1st st to right needle. Slip 1 yo and drop 3 yo's in each of the next 3 sts = 4 long sts on right needle, pull and stretch sts to make them evenly long. Slip the first 2 of the 4 sts over the last 2 sts and onto the left needle, then slip the last 2 sts on right needle onto left needle (= 4 loose sts on left needle crossing each other). Make sure they are lined up in the right order. Now K these 4 sts. Slip the next 8 sts over to right needle, pull and stretch sts to make them evenly long. Slip the first 4 of the 8 sts over the last 4 sts and onto the left needle, then slip the last 4 sts on right needle onto left needle (= 8 loose sts on left needle crossing each other). K these 8 sts. Continue like this crossing the next 8 sts, and the next 8 and so on across, until 4 sts remain on row. Slip the next 4 sts over to right needle, pull and stretch sts to make them evenly long. Slip the first 2 of the 4 sts over the last 2 sts and onto the left needle, then slip the last 2 sts on right needle onto left needle (= 4 loose sts on left needle crossing each other). How to knit two-coloured Royal Quilting pattern

In this DROPS video we show you how we knit a two-coloured Royal Quilting pattern. Cast on a number of stitches divisible with 6+3 with colour A. We have casted on 18+3 stitches in colour A with DROPS Snow in this video. Row 1: WRONG SIDE, colour A, purl 2, * make sure the thread is now placed on the right side, slip the next 5 stitches purlwise from the left needle to the right needle, purl 1 * (there will be a loop on the right side over the 5 sliped stitches), repeat *-* until there are 1 stitch left, purl 1 Row 2: RIGHT SIDE, colour B, knit all stitches. Row 3: WRONG SIDE, colour B, purl all stitches. Row 4: RIGHT SIDE, use colour A, knit 1, lift 3 stitches purlwise from the left needle to the right needle, knit the next stitch together with the loop made 3 rows below. *slip 5 stitches purlwise from the left needle to the right needle, knit the next stitch together with the loop made 3 rows below *, repeat *-* until 4 stitches remains. Slip 3 stitches purlwise from the left needle to the right needle, knit 1. Row 5: WRONG SIDE, with colour A, purl 1, place the thread on the right side, slip 3 stitches purlwise from the left needle to the right needle, purl 1, * place the thread on the right side, slip 5 stitches purlwise from the left needle to the right needle, purl 1 *, repeat *-* until 4 stitches remains, slip 3 stitches purlwise from the left needle to the right needle, purl 1. Rows 6-7: Repeat row 2-3. Row 8: RIGHT SIDE, with colour A, knit 1, knit the next stitch together with the loop made 3 rows below, * slip 5 stitches purlwise from the left needle to the right needle, knit the next stitch together with the loop made 3 rows below *, repeat*-* until 1 stitch remains, knit the last stitch. How to knit an exciting texture pattern

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a part of the texture pattern in DROPS 194-5, this technique is also used in other patterns. In the pattern you work in the round, but in this video we work only from the right to the left side and 3 rows of a chart, see the red outline. In 1st row work like this (black triangle that crosses 3 squares): = insert right needle through the middle of the 3 knit stitches 4 rounds below, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn back to right, yarn over must not be too tight, knit 3, insert right needle through same stitch, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn back to right side. In 2nd row work like this (a black line over 5 squares): = slip 1st stitch (= yarn over made on previous round) knitwise, knit 3, slip next stitch (= yarn over made on previous round) purlwise. In 3rd row work like this: 1st, 3rd and 5th black triangle over 2 squares = knit 2 stitches twisted together. 2nd, 4th and 6th black triangle over 2 squares = knit 2 together. This jumper is knitted in DROPS Air, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. How to work an easy butterfly pattern

In this DROPS video, we show how to work an easy butterfly pattern that repeats itself. Knit a butterfly over 7 stitches + stitches between each butterfly and 2 garter stitches in each side (garter stitches = knit on each side). We have cast on 29 stitches and worked 1 row with the main color (green) and 2 garter stitches on each side. We start the video by working like this: Right side: Work 2 garter stitches, * put the second color in front of the work / towards you, knit 7 stitches, put the second color behind the work / from you, knit 2 *, repeat * - * the entire row, turn. Wrong side: Work 2 garter stitches, * put the second color behind the work / from you, purl 7 stitches, put the second color in front of the work / towards you, purl 2 *, repeat * - * entire row, but work the last 2 stitches in garter st, turn. Repeat these two rows until you have 6 loose threads in front. Right side: Now work with the main color. Work 2 garter stitches, knit 3, * insert right needle under all 6 long threads (use thumb for help if needed), knit next stitch, do not lift stitch off left needle, but pull the stitch under the 6 long thread, put the stitch on the right needle, knit these two stitches twisted together, knit 8, repeat * - * 1 more time. Knit under all 6 long threads, knit the next stitch, do not lift the stitch off the left needle, put the stitch on the right needle, knit two stitches twisted together, knit 3, knit 2 garter stitches, turn and purl 1 row with 2 stitches in garter sts on each side. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in this video.

How to knit a long stitch pattern

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit a long stitch pattern. This is a very cute stitch pattern that you can find in some of our designs. Row 1: P4, P2 tog, P2 twisted tog, repeat. Row 2: If in the round you purl next round, if back and forth turn and knit your row back and turn. Row 3: P4, insert needle between the 2 dec 2 rows below, pull yarn through and make a long st and slip it on right needle, P2, make 1 more long st in the same spot as first one. Row 4: As row 2. How to knit 3 stitches together twice – Star pattern

In this DROPS video we show how we work 3 stitches together twice, so that it forms a star pattern. We work after a chart and have already worked 3 times in the height, repeat it 3 times in the width and knit 2 garter stitches in each side. Work like this when 3 stitches should be knitted together: Knit 3 together (right side) without lifting them off the needle, make 1 yarn over, knit 3 together in same 3 stitches and drop them off the needle (= 3 stitches). How to work after charts to make long stitches

In this DROPS video we show how to work after chart A.1 and A.2 to the baby blanket «Terracotta Dreams» in DROPS Baby 39-6 to make long stitches. We have already worked A.1 and A.2 once in the height and we work A.1 2 times in the width, A.2 1 time in the width and 4 garter stitches in each side. This technique is also used in other patterns.
