In this DROPS video we show how to crochet a double crochet (US) / treble crochet (UK). You crochet a double crochet / treble crochet as follows: Wrap the yarn round the crochet hook and insert the hook in next stitch. Wrap the yarn round the hook and pull the yarn through the stitch only, leaving 3 loops on your hook. Wrap the yarn round the hook again and pull through the first 2 loops only. Wrap the yarn round the hook again and pull through the last 2 loops. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. How to crochet squares together with chain stitches and double crochet

In this DROPS video we show how you can crochet squares together with chain stitches and double crochet. Lay 2 squares together, wrong side to wrong side, and work through both layers like this: 1 double crochet around the chain stitches in the corner, * 4 chain stitches, skip 3 treble crochets (= treble crochet groups) and crochet 1 double crochet between 2 treble crochets groups, *, work from *-* up to and including the next corner, work 1 chain stitch (transition to the next 2 squares), work 1 double crochet around the corner on the next square. Work from *-* until the row has been worked together. Cut the strand, then work the squares together in width in the same way. We use the yarn DROPS Paris in the video. How to knit up stitches for the neck to a jumper with European shoulder

In this DROPS video we show how to knit up stitches around the neck to a jumper with a European shoulder, using a knitting needle or a crochet hook. Then follow the description in the pattern. There are many different ways to work a rib (e.g knit 1 / purl 1, knit 2 / purl 2, knit 1 twisted / 1 purl etc.). And you can work a single neck, double neck or a high neck. In this video we work a double neck with a rib worked like this: knit 2, purl 2, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl and then fold the neck double to the inside and fasten down. In this video we work with 2 yarn qualities: DROPS Lima colour no. 9029 sage green and DROPS Kid-Silk colour no. 45 soft mint, needle size 5 mm. How to work German Short Rows – with a double stitch back and forth on the needle

German short rows = The work is turned in the middle of a row. When working short rows, there will be a small hole - this can be closed by tightening the thread or using the German short row technique. Row 1 (= right side): Knit until where the piece is to be turned, turn, when it is knitted further there will be a small hole at the turn - this hole can be closed like this: Row 2 (= wrong side): Slip the 1st stitch from the left needle as if to purl, have the thread at the front towards you, place the thread over the right needle and tighten the thread well before purling the next stitch = the first stitch on the right needle has now become a double stitch (with a stitch and a thread). Purl until where the work is to be turned. Turn the work. Row 3 (= right side): Slip the 1st stitch from the left needle as if to purl, have the thread at the front towards you, place the thread over the right needle and tighten the thread well before knitting the next stitch = the first stitch on the right needle has now become a double stitch. Knit until the double stitch from the previous row and knit the double stitch so that the thread that was placed over the needle and the stitch is knitted together = 1 stitch. Knit until where the work is to be turned. Turn the work. Row 4 (= wrong side): Slip the 1st stitch from the left needle as if to purl, have the thread at the front towards you, place the thread over the right needle and tighten the thread well before purling the next stitch = the first stitch on the right needle has now become a double stitch. Purl until the double stitch from the previous row and purl the double stitch so that the thread that was placed over the needle and the stitch is purled together = 1 stitch. How to work an I-cord edge, back and forth

In this DROPS video we show how to work an I-cord edge both from the right side and from the wrong side. In this video the 6 first / 6 last stitches after the I-cord edge are worked in garter stitches (= the stitches are knitted on every row). At the beginning of the row from the right side, work like this: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1, work 6 garter stitches. Work stockinette stitch. How to cast on with the continental method

There are different methods to cast on. In this DROPS video we show one of the most common methods that gives a firm but still elastic edge. It’s called the continental method. The cast on should be firm but not too hard. If you feel it becomes too tight you can use larger needles or cast on around two needles and then pull one needle out afterwards. How to knit Fair Isle (2 color knitting) continental

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit Fair Isle (2 colour knitting) using the continental method. In this video we are following a chart back and forth on needles, knitting with two colors. The color that not is knitted is following behind the work when knitting RS rows. Make sure it's not too tight or too loose. If more than 3 sts in a row of one of the colors, then twist the yarns for every 3 sts, by picking up the working yarn alternately above and under the yarn following on the back. When working WS rows have the yarn following in front of work, again make sure you have the right tension on the thread. Note - if a color not is used all the way at the end of the row, you can drop it, but if it will be used at the beginning of the next row, then keep carry it a long by twisting around the working yarn. Don't worry if it's a bit uneven, it will even out a lot when blocking. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. How to bind off from the right side (RS)

In this DROPS video we show how you can bind off your work from the right side. You bind off to lock stitches that no longer will be worked to stop them from running. You also bind off stitches to shape arm holes, neck and shoulders. The bind off should neither be too firm or too hard, e.g. you need to be able to get the sweater over your head. To prevent binding off to firm you can use a larger needle then what you have used during your knitting. Binding off with knit stitches, you knit the stitches and then keep passing the next to last knitted stitch over the last knitted stitch. When 1 stitch remains, cut the thread, and pull yarn through last stitch. You must read the pattern to be able to follow.
