How to work an I-cord edge, back and forth

In this DROPS video we show how to work an I-cord edge both from the right side and from the wrong side. In this video the 6 first / 6 last stitches after the I-cord edge are worked in garter stitches (= the stitches are knitted on every row). At the beginning of the row from the right side, work like this: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1, work 6 garter stitches. Work stockinette stitch. At the end of the row from the right side, work like this: Work 6 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1. At the beginning of the row from the wrong side, work like this: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1, work 6 garter stitches. Work stockinette stitch. At the end of the row from the wrong side, work like this: Work 6 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. How to cast off with a picot edge

In this DROPS video we show you have to cast off with a picot edge. In the video we knit like this: K 1, (* insert right needle in between the first 2 sts on left needle (i.e. between sts on needle, not through sts), make 1 YO on right needle, pull YO forwards between sts and slip YO on left needle *, repeat from *-* 2 more times (= 3 new sts on left needle). ** K first st on left needle, pass first st on right needle over last st worked **), repeat from **-** 5 times in total and repeat from (-) along the entire row until 1 st remains. How to cast off with a picot edge on a rib

In this DROPS video we show how to cast off with a picot on a rib. Knit 1, * insert right needle between the next 2 stitches (not through the stitches), make 1 yarn over, pull the yarn over between the stitches and place on left needle *, work from *-* 2 more times (= 3 yarn overs on left needle), knit and cast off 7 stitches (= 1 stitch + 3 yarn overs + 3 stitches). Work from *-* and cast off 7 stitches in the same way along the whole edge. When there are not enough stitches to work another picot, cast off the remaining stitches as usual. How to knit a braided edge

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit a braided edge. A braided edge is worked best in the round. We first cast on an even number of stitches with 2 different colors. And then we remove the loop from the beginning of the needle and place a marker before we knit the first round. We knit the colors alternately. The next two rounds are purled and remember to work the stitches in the same color as the round below. When you purl the first round put your working yarn to the right up and over the needle, and when you purl the second round put the working yarn down to the left.

How to cast off with i-cord casting off.

In this DROPS video we show how to cast off with i-cord casting off that is for example, used in the shawl in DROPS 190-15. Work and cast off as follows: * Knit 2 stitches, the next 2 stitches are knitted twisted together. Push the 3 stitches from the right needle back onto the left needle (in the same order) *, repeat from *-* until all stitches on the left needle have been cast off and there are 3 stitches left on the right needle. Push the stitches onto the left needle and cast them off with knit. This shawl is crocheted in DROPS Flora, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. How to work an i-cord edging

In this DROPS video we show how we work an i-cord edging in a piece in garter stitch, an i-cord is a knitted tube. We have chosen to have 3 edge stitches on each side that will form the i-cord edge. On each row, lift the 3 first stitches over to the right needle as if they should have been purl and purl the 3 last stitches on each row. Work like this: * Lift 3 stitches to the right needle as if they should have been purl, tighten the thread a little, knit the row until 3 stitches remain, purl these stitches, turn piece * repeat from * - *. You have to work a few cm and pull a little in the edge before you see the best result. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.

How to work an I-cord edge while casting off.

In this DROPS video we show how we work an I-cord edge while we're casting off. Cast on 4 new stiches on right needle from WS, turn piece. Use another knitting needle if you wish. * Knit 3 stitches, the next 2 stitches are knitted twisted together. Put these 4 stitches back to the left needle *. Repeat from *-* the entire round and cast off. Sew together cast on and cast off edge. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.

How to work an I-cord edge with 2 stitches

In this DROPS video we show how to work 2 I-cord edge stitches in each side, and at the same time increase in one of the sides. The same 2 edge stitches can be used in garments without increases. For example edges to a jacket. EDGE STITCHES: At the beginning of each row work 2 edge stitches as follows: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. At the end of each row work 2 edge stitches as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left on the row, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. How to knit a lace picot edge

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a pretty lace picot edge. We knit this back and forth on needles. Row 1: knit all sts Row 2: knit all sts Row 3: knit to last 4 sts, K 2 tog, yo, K 2 sts in each of the last 2 sts (2 new sts). Row 4: bind off first 2 sts and K across remaining sts on row. How to knit a hem with picots along the edge

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit a pretty and feminine hem (edge) with picots. You knit an eyelet row and this row is then where we do the fold and from where all length measures in pattern are measured. So knit a couple of cm/ an inch in stockinette st then work a row from RS like this; *K2 tog, 1 yo*, repeat *-* to end of row. Continue in stockinette or what patterns tells. Afterward fold the bottom edge to inside and sew with neat sts. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. How to work an easy picot edge

In this DROPS video we show how to work an easy picot edge. We work back and forth, but you can also work it in the round. Work like this on row 1: * Knit 7 stitches, slip 2nd stitch on right needle over outermost stitch on right needle (over the last stitch worked), pass next stitch on right needle over outermost stitch on right needle (2 stitches decreased = 1 arch) *, work from *-* the entire row. How to knit picot edge, both on the right and left side

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit the picot edge, both in the right and the left side used in DROPS Children 28-7. How to knit a wave edge

In this DROPS Video we show how to make a beautiful wave edge. When working top down so that your piece ends at the edge, then you can finish off with this romantic ruffled wave edge. It's also a nice addition when knitting shawls from center and out. When you have reached desired measure work like this: * K 1, 1 YO, repeat from * across, end row with K 1. How to knit a fan edge

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit a fan edge with the help of a crochet hook. If you need 20 stitches you have to make 5 fans (1 fan = 4 stitches). * Cast on 10 stitches on both a knitting needle and a crochet hook, (remember to have enough thread to cast on with). Make a yarn over the crochet hook, pull the yarn through the 10 stitches, pick up 1st stitch with the crochet hook and pull it through the loop on the crochet hook, tighten the thread, pick up the 10th stitches with the crochet hook, pull out the knitting needle and put the 2 stitches from crochet hook to the knitting needle * (= 1 fan). Repeat from * - * until you have half the number of stitches you want. Turn and cast on 2 new stitches between the 2 stitches in each fan on the 1st row from WS. Start knitting stockinette stitch. How to work a flounce edge after chart

In this DROPS video we show how to work a flounce edge after chart A.1 used in the “Rosy Ruffles” socks in DROPS 223-47. We have already cast on 36 stitches with 2 threads. We work further with only 1 thread. These socks are worked in DROPS Nord, but in this video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. How to work a folding edge together

In this DROPS video we show how to work a folding edge together, like the one in the “Rosy Ruffles” socks in DROPS 223-47. We have already worked the flounce edge and we place a marker in the first stitch on last round. Work a rib with knit 2/purl 1 to right measurements. Fold the beginning of piece in towards wrong side of piece so that you can pick up stitch in the first round with rib after A.1 (piece is now folded with wrong side towards wrong side and flounce is pointing upwards over the needles). Knit 1 round while at the same time as every knit stitch from the first round with rib is knitted together with next stitch on round (i.e. every 3rd stitch from the first round with rib is fastened to the round being worked now). Turn the piece inside out so that flounce is on the outside of piece, this is now the right side of sock. Knit 1 round (as the round is turned there might be a small hole in the transition but this can be sewn up with a small stitch at the end). These socks are worked in DROPS Nord, but in this video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. You must read the pattern to be able to follow this video properly. How to work a rib with small waves along the cast-on edge

In this DROPS video we show how we work a rib with small waves along the cast-on edge. We have already worked 4 rows with rib (1K and 1P), and with 3K in the beginning and end in each row (both from RS and WS). Then we work as follows: Knit 1, * purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, take the right needle from the front of work and under the cast on edge, use right needle to lift the outermost stitch from left needle to the right needle, then take the right needle back around under the cast on edge (only the outermost stitch on the right needle is wrapped around the cast on edge), place this stitch back on left needle and knit the stitch (make sure the stitch is not twisted) *, work from *-* the whole row. The neck now has small waves along the cast-on edge. Turn, and work rib to finish measurement. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. How to work a flounces edge with increases
